Abstract: A projector can not only perform power on/off operation in synchronization with open/close action of a shutter but also provide a screen mute function achieved by the shutter. When the shutter is located in an OFF position and the period timed by a timer is longer than or equal to a predetermined period during the operation of the projector, the projector is powered off. In this process, after the timing operation performed by the timer and notification from a notification unit are terminated, a light source is turned off and the projector is caused to enter a standby state.

Abstract: A projection apparatus includes a time-sharing light emitting device, a display device, a projection optical system, an illuminance sensor and a lighting determination unit. The time-sharing light emitting device successively emits color lights one by one. The display device modulates the color lights to form an image. The projection optical system projects the image. The illuminance sensor converts illuminance of the color lights into an electric signal which is an output of the illuminance sensor. The lighting determination unit compares the output with a first threshold value, and operates the time-sharing light emitting device in response to the output being more than the first threshold value, and stops the time-sharing light emitting device in response to the output being equal to or less than the first threshold value.

Abstract: Optical MEMS scanning micro-mirror comprising:—a movable scanning micro-mirror (101) pivotally connected to a MEMS body (102) substantially surrounding the lateral sides of the micro-mirror;—an transparent prism (500, 600) substantially covering the reflection side of the micro-mirror;—wherein said prism has its outer face non-parallel to the micro-mirror neutral plane N-N, thereby providing a dual anti-speckle and anti-reflection effect, namely against parasitic light. The invention also provides the corresponding micro-projection system and method for reducing speckle.

  • Patent number: 8534844
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for dynamic keystone correction. A measurement module measures distances from a projector to each of at least three projected points of a first projected image projected on a first surface with projection angles between each projected point. The at least three projected points are endpoints for at least two vectors with a target ratio of vector lengths. An adjustment module calculates an actual ratio of actual vector lengths of the at least two vectors. The adjustment module further adjusts a first aspect ratio of first projected image until the actual ratio is equivalent to the target ratio.

  • Publication number: 20130235092
Abstract: An image processing apparatus projects and displays an image on a projection surface. The image processing apparatus includes an adjustment image producing section (an adjustment image producing section and an image analysis section) that produces an adjustment image for adjusting a focus of a projected image to be displayed on the projection surface and an imaging section that images the adjustment image projected on the projection surface. The adjustment image producing section changes the adjustment image to be produced, such that a grayscale pattern of a captured adjustment image obtained by imaging is close to a grayscale pattern of the adjustment image.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for providing asymmetrical cooling for projectors. The projector can include two light assemblies, with each light assembly including a light source. The light assemblies are arranged horizontally adjacent to each other having both light assemblies facing in a direction of projected light from the light sources. On an outer side opposite the side adjacent to the other light assembly, each light assembly is accompanied by a pair of fans. One fan provides air to a top of the light assembly, and the other fan provides air to a bottom of the light assembly. More cooling air is provided to a top of the light assembly to cool a part of the light source that is hotter than the bottom part of the light source due to natural convection. The fan speeds can be varied based on a temperature measurement (e.g., using calibration tables) and/or based on other inputs.

Abstract: A projector includes a screen which has color stripes that are periodically arranged and that generate visible light corresponding to incident light. A laser light source section emits a light beam. A laser scanning section scans the light beam on a region of the color stripes arranged on the screen. A light detection section detects feedback light radiated from the screen corresponding to the light beam. A control section adjusts a light emission timing and a light emission period of the laser light source section based on a detection result of the light detection section and causes the laser light source section to emit the light beam such that light pulses enter the individual color stripes.
