  • Patent number: 7234821
Abstract: A projection device having single light valve has a light source, a projection lens, an imaging unit and a beam breaker. Moreover, the imaging unit has a color production device and a valve. When the beam provided by light source propagates to the color production device, the color production device converts the beam into several different color beams in an order. Thereafter, the beams propagate to the beam breaker, and the beam breaker breaks the beam propagating through within a definite time according to the states of imaging unit. Afterwards, the beams that are not broken are converted into images by the light valve in order, and projected on a screen by projection lens. The beam breaker module can enable the projection device having single light to have several situation modes, and maintain the imaging contrast.

  • Patent number: 7128426
Abstract: A method of producing an image display device used for an LCD projector by providing a periodic structure of pixels arranged in a matrix and a substrate supporting the pixels, modulating light entering from an entrance surface in pixel units, and emitting the same from an exit surface. A phase shift structure for randomly changing the phase of the light is formed on a surface of the substrate. The phase shift structure has a relief structure formed, for example, by etching the surface of the substrate through which light passes to random depths. Therefore, occurrence of high-order diffracted light caused by the periodic structure of very fine pixels is prevented, and accordingly the amount of 0th order light inherently required is increased.

Abstract: A technique for providing a desired level of color balance in field sequential color systems with brightness enhancement. In color wheels having a spectrally-broad transmissive segment, the spectrally-broad segment has a transmittance that is selected to provide a desired level of color balance. This can include transmittance characteristics that are inversely related to the spectral characteristics of the light source or optics. In color switches, this can include varying the amplitude and time duration of the contribution from each of the three primary colors.

The light valve processes color bars according to an input image signal and forms a color image. The control circuit synchronizes the scrolling of the color with the electrical scanning of the light valve according to an image signal. The color bars are scrolled on the light valve due to a rotation of the scrolling unit.
