Abstract: An image reading/recording apparatus which can prevent a reading unit from closing abruptly and reduce the force required to open the reading unit is to be provided. The apparatus is equipped with a damper unit which links the apparatus body and the scanner unit and the working direction of whose force is reversed on the way of the turning of the scanner unit, and a metal-made supporting member which is arranged in the apparatus body and supports the damper unit in a state in which the scanner unit is closed relative to the apparatus body.
Abstract: Systems and methods for optically scanning multiple object planes are provided. One embodiment is a system for optically scanning multiple object planes comprising a platen and an optical head for scanning. The optical head comprises an optical delay element, a first optical sensor array positioned relative to a lens array along an optical path for receiving an optical signal corresponding to a first object plane located a first distance from the platen, and a second optical sensor array positioned relative to the lens array along another optical path for an optical signal corresponding to a second object plane located a second distance from the platen. The optical delay element is configured to increase the effective distance between the lens array and the second optical sensor.

In the electrical connection structure, a first conduction module and a second conduction module are pivoted on a shaft with an insulator. The second conduction module is capable of rotating with respect to the first conduction module. The insulator is disposed between the first and second conduction modules, thereby insulating the first conduction module from the second conduction module.
Abstract: An imaging forming device using a platen, an upper peel roller, a lower peel roller movably positioned under and parallel to the upper peel roller, a diverter bar rotatably positioned underneath the platen and near the upper and lower peel rollers and adapted to guide a printable medium backing to move between the platen and the upper peel roller to between the upper and lower peel rollers, a peel bar rotatably positioned over the upper peel roller, a pair of lever cams rotatably positioned respectively at opposite ends of the upper and lower peel rollers, the lever cams are adapted to push the lower peel roller to press the printable medium backing against the upper peel roller during operation for moving the printable medium backing through the imaging forming device and to allow the lower peel roller to separate apart from the upper peel roller when the imaging forming device is open for loading the printable medium backing in between the upper and lower rollers.

Abstract: An improved vacuum exposure frame for use in making exposed aluminum printing or lithographic plates permits the use of unworked glass, preferably tempered glass, rather than polycarbonate plexiglass (which is easily scratched) of the prior art replacement of the transparent image-exposure-window material. The frame is routed on the lower aperture-facing portion of the exposure window, preferably by a 90.degree. routing having a horizontal face and a vertical face surrounding and defining the aperture underside. A preferred embodiment has a reverse depression preferably routed out of the horizontal face and a sealant-adhesive is inserted into the reverse depression and along the vertical face so as to secure the unworked glass to the frame. Separate ID windows with long lasting polycarbonate inserts are also in the frame where the main image exposure window aperture is shaped to contain preferably only the book pages to be exposed onto the aluminum plate.
Abstract: A hinged photoimaging apparatus used in photoimaging processes including a pair of rigid plates joined by upper and lower hinge plates separated by a spacer plate, the upper and lower hinge plates joining a flexible polymeric hinge. The hinge and spacer plates are provided in various shapes to reinforce the rigid plates.
Abstract: A registration system for exposing photosensitive sheets to controlled light through images formed on film includes a thin, relatively stiff, dimensionally stable support board having a relatively flat upper surface for supporting a photosensitive sheet and an image forming film sheet in overlying relation thereon including an upper layer formed of resilient material and having at least one registration opening extending between opposite faces of the board for receiving a registration pin. The pin includes a stop flange adjacent a lower end for limiting upward movement of the pin in the board and includes an upper body normally projecting above the upper surface of the support board to extend into aligned registration openings which are punched in the photosensitive sheet and the image forming film.
Abstract: A mount maintains a linear assembly, for example an LED printhead assembly, in operative relation to a rotary component whose location and orientation is not always precisely determinable. The mount is particularly useful when the rotary component is routinely removable from the apparatus, for example, if the rotary component is a roller about which is trained a web which must be replaced periodically and upon which the printhead assembly acts.The mount contacts the rotary component restricting movement of the printhead assembly relative to the rotary component about x and y axes generally orthogonal to the primary axis of the rotary component but permits movement of the printhead assembly with the rotary component.
Abstract: A registration board capable of dissipating static electricity through a conductive sink for use in a vacuum frame exposure system. The board comprises a bottom layer with channels and slots for registration pin flex plates, a middle layer for spacing and with guide holes for the registration pins, and a top layer of a conductive and resiliently compressible material. The static electricity that builds up from movement of materials in a vacuum frame printing process is bled off the conductive top layer through a conductive element placed between the top and middle layer and extending to the underside of the bottom layer which can either merge the static electricity with the greater field of the blanket or be selectively attached to an external ground connector.
Abstract: A device for maintaining films and panels in close tolerance registration. The device includes an upper leaf and a lower leaf which are selectively joined together by zero-tolerance snap connectors. The upper leaf and lower leaf are adapted to improve device wear characteristics and, as well, to improve the operation of the system which uses the registration device of the instant invention.
