Exhaust, Dust Or Smoke Patents (Class 356/438)
  • Patent number: 4160246
Abstract: A wireless smoke detector apparatus including at least one detector/transmitter unit and a receiver/annunciator unit. The detector/transmitter having a pulsed infrared radiation source, a photodetector having an optical axis angularly intersecting the axis of the radiation source for detecting radiation scattered by smoke particles and a transmitter responsive to the output of the detector for transmitting a unique receiver/annunciator actuating signal which is distinguishable by the receiver/annunciator from other actuating signals.

  • Patent number: 4156816
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical fire-detector in which a radiation-emitting means is arranged to emit a beam of radiation and which has modulator means for the modulation of the beam of radiation in a phase-inverted relationship within a first and a second wavelength band, and a radiation-detecting means is arranged to receive the beam of radiation after it has passed through an intermediate air medium and includes first means for an individual measurement of intensity in the two wavelength bands and second means for the detection of such variations in the measured intensities which are representative for a fire.

  • Patent number: 4126790
Abstract: A pulsed or strobed smoke detector operable periodically in a pulsed mode. A strobe generator having minimum power consumption limits the time of power consumption by other elements of the detector to a fraction of continuously operating time. A storage circuit is also included to limit transient or start-up consumption of power.

  • Patent number: 4126396
Abstract: A method and apparatus for non-dispersive optical determination of gas and smoke components in a mixture by reflection and detection of radiation, of a different wavelength for each component, through the mixture, wherein the radiation is periodically intercepted before it enters the mixture and reflected direct to the photo-receiver and the measurement signals are divided by the stored direct signals.
