  • Patent number: 12044989
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, a transfer unit, a power supply, and a reader. A test chart is formed by transferring test images to a recording material while applying test voltages from the power supply to the transfer unit. A transfer voltage to be applied to the transfer unit during transfer is set based on the read test images. A reference image is formed on the test chart. The reader reads the test chart by scanning the test chart from a first position to a second position that falls within the test images. The first position falls within a boundary of the recording material on which the test chart is formed and falls outside the test images. Based on the reference image, the result of the reader reading the test chart is obtained by scanning the test chart from the first position to the second position.

Abstract: An embedding component is described which embeds information in a scanned document. The embedding component includes a document acquisition component, which acquires a scanned document from an associated scanning device. An information acquisition component acquires variable information associated with the scanned document. An encoding component generates a machine-readable representation of the variable information. A pattern insertion component uses the machine-readable representation to insert at least one machine readable pattern in the scanned document, to generate a modified document. An output component outputs the modified document to an associated output device, such that when the modified document is rendered on print media, the machine-readable pattern is not noticeable to the unaided eye of a person. A processor implements the document acquisition component, information acquisition component, encoding component, pattern insertion component, and output component.

Abstract: Method for acquiring local gonio-reflection characteristics of an image which is aggregation of dots. Sensory glossiness (L) of the image determined by equation (1) is 1.0 or more. The sensory glossiness (L) is determined based on a height of a peak (H), a height of a base (B) and a half width of a peak (W) of a distribution information of lightness with respect to light receiving angle, obtained by measuring reflected light of a measuring light irradiated into the image. The local gonio-reflection characteristics is acquired with a spatial resolution (A) for acquiring the local gonio-reflection characteristics and a resolution (B) which represents a distribution information of the dots within a region where the sensory glossiness (L) being 1.0 or more, satisfying formula (2). Abstract: Exemplary embodiments may provide an approach to converting multidimensional color data for an image encoded in a first color space into an intermediate form that is a single dimensional value. The exemplary embodiments may then decode the intermediate form value to produce an encoding of the color data that is encoded in a second color space that differs from the first color space. In this manner, the data for the image may be efficiently converted from an encoding in the first color space into an encoding in the second color space.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for compressing color information in point cloud data. In some embodiments, point cloud data includes point position information and point color information for each of a plurality of points. The point position information is provided to a neural network, and the neural network generates predicted color information (e.g. predicted luma and chroma values) for respective points in the point cloud. A prediction residual is generated to represent the difference between the predicted color information and the input point color position. The point position information (which may be in compressed form) and the prediction residual are encoded in a bitstream. In some embodiments, color hint data is encoded to improve color prediction.
