Publication number: 20090201578Abstract: In order to obtain an image with high color fidelity in an environment with a bright source in a field of view, flare must be minimized. An image device that reduces flare may include an absorptive UV cut filter positioned in an integrated optical system and a dichroic IR cut filter disposed on a lens in the optical system. The dichroic IR cut filter receives reflected light from one or more surfaces in the optical system at an angle of incidence larger than an angle of incidence of image light entering the dichroic IR cut filter, so that the reflected light is transmitted out of the system. The absorptive UV cut filter may be used to reduce UV-wavelength light reaching an image sensor of the image device. In this manner, the image device avoids processing undesirable wavelengths of light that is beyond the visible spectrum.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 9, 2009Publication date: August 13, 2009Applicant: Google Inc.Inventor: Iain Richard Tyrone McCLATCHIE

To this end, an optical filter is provided that comprises at least one zirconium, niobium, or molybdenum layer interposed between two silicon layers. In order to increase the mechanical stability and the service life of the filter and in order to further restrict the spectral characteristics, another two ruthenium or rhodium layers each can follow the silicon layers. The filters of this kind are especially used in illumination systems and projection illumination systems for highly ultraviolet light that are used in semiconductor lithography.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2002Date of Patent: December 26, 2006Assignee: Carl Zeiss SMT AGInventor: Marco Wedowski

Optical filter having filter layer containing infrared absorbing dye and ultraviolet absorbing agent
Patent number: 7108918Abstract: An optical filter comprises a transparent support and a filter layer. The filter layer contains a dye and a binder polymer. The dye is in an aggregated form exhibiting an absorption maximum in the wavelength region of 750 to 1,100 nm. The support, the filter layer or an optional layer contains an ultraviolet absorbing agent represented by the formula (I), (II), (III) or the like.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2005Date of Patent: September 19, 2006Assignee: Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yoshiharu Yabuki -
Patent number: 7104659Abstract: A method and apparatus for control of optical trap arrays and formation of particle arrays using light that is in the visible portion of the spectrum. The method and apparatus provides a laser and a time variable diffractive optical element to allow dynamic control of optical trap arrays and consequent control of particle arrays and also the ability to manipulate singular objects using a plurality of optical traps. By avoiding wavelengths associated with strong absorption in the underlying material, creating optical traps with a continuous-wave laser, optimizing the efficiency of individual traps, and trapping extended samples at multiple points, the rate of deleterious nonlinear optical processes can be minimized.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2004Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Assignee: University of ChicagoInventors: David G. Patent number: 7088503Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for making an achromatic lens. The invention provides a method for making a lens that makes use of the differences in the index of refraction of ZnSe and ZnS in the mm-wave and IR wavebands to minimize the differences in focal position between the two wavebands. A lens train thus made can be used in conjunction with a dual-band focal plane array to simultaneously focus two wavebands on a common focal plane and thus provide for simultaneous imaging in both wavebands.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2003Date of Patent: August 8, 2006Inventors: Robin J. Patent number: 7064892Abstract: A bandpass filter containing specific combinations of the dyes to yield filters which are adapted to selectively transmit predetermined primary color wavelengths of an electromagnetic spectrum as well as selectively absorb wavelengths other than the predetermined primary color wavelengths. The multiple bandpass filters are employed to improve the images on CRT screens and plasma display panels.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2004Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignee: Asahi Glass Company, LimitedInventors: Chia-Chi Teng, Suk Youn Suh, George Malinoski

Patent number: 7057805Abstract: A solar control film which includes an adhesive layer for adhering the solar control film to a substrate, a metallized layer and a scratch resistant layer containing dispersed carbon black particles wherein the metallized layer is between the adhesive layer for adhering to a substrate and the scratch resistant layer. The solar control film can be prepared by a process which involves mixing a composition comprised of carbon black in particulate form dispersed in a nitrocellulose resin with a polymer forming material to form a coating composition and applying the coating composition to a component of a solar control film whereby the coating composition forms a scratch resistant layer containing dispersed carbon black particles.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2001Date of Patent: June 6, 2006Assignee: Commonwealth Laminating & Coating, Inc.Inventors: Stephen N.
