Off-axis viewing of the projections which has the potential to cause crosstalk and/or loss of energy/brightness in any channel or color, is eliminated (or reduced to only highly oblique viewing angles) via the combined use of any of guard bands between light bands of adjacent channels, curvature of viewing filters, and selection of passband wavelengths that maximize usability of the passband as it “shifts” due to varying or increasing angles of off-axis viewing. • Patent number: 11127210
Abstract: A system for automatically displaying virtual objects within a mixed reality environment is described. In some embodiments, a see-through head-mounted display device (HMD) identifies a real object (e.g., a person or book) within a field of view of the HMD, detects one or more interactions associated with real object, and automatically displays virtual objects associated with the real object if the one or more interactions involve touching or satisfy one or more social rules stored in a social rules database. The one or more social rules may be used to infer a particular social relationship by considering the distance to another person, the type of environment (e.g., at home or work), and particular physical interactions (e.g., handshakes or hugs). The virtual objects displayed on the HMD may depend on the particular social relationship inferred (e.g., a friend or acquaintance).

Abstract: A measurement processing device includes an imaging unit, an image acquisition unit, a display unit, a measurement point display control unit, a corresponding-point calculation unit, a corresponding-point image generation unit, and a corresponding-point image display control unit. The measurement point display control unit causes a measurement point indicating a measurement position designated by a user to be displayed on a first image. The corresponding-point image generation unit generates a corresponding-point image that includes the corresponding point calculated by the corresponding-point calculation unit and a region in the vicinity of the corresponding point in the second image and is constituted of all or a part of the second image. The corresponding-point image display control unit causes the corresponding-point image to be displayed so that a straight line passing through the measurement point and the corresponding point is orthogonal to the parallax direction on a display screen.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing system may receive current eye-tracking data associated with a user of a head-mounted display. The system may dynamically adjust a focal length of the head-mounted display based on the current eye-tracking data. The system may generate an in-focus image of a scene and a corresponding depth map of the scene. The system may generate a circle-of-confusion map for the scene based on the depth map. The circle-of-confusion map encodes a desired focal surface in the scene. The system may generate, using a machine-learning model, an output image with a synthesized defocus-blur effect by processing the in-focus image, the corresponding depth map, and the circle-of-confusion map of the scene. The system may display the output image with the synthesized defocus-blur effect to the user via the head-mounted display having the adjusted focal length.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for presenting virtual objects on a limited number of depth planes using, e.g., an augmented reality display system. A farthest one of the depth planes is within a mismatch tolerance of optical infinity. The display system may switch the depth plane on which content is actively displayed, so that the content is displayed on the depth plane on which a user is fixating. The impact of errors in fixation tracking is addressed using partially overlapping depth planes. A fixation depth at which a user is fixating is determined and the display system determines whether to adjust selection of a selected depth plane at which a virtual object is presented. The determination may be based on whether the fixation depth falls within a depth overlap region of adjacent depth planes. The display system may switch the active depth plane depending upon whether the fixation depth falls outside the overlap region.
