Abstract: A flashlight having a control unit with a push button for activating the flashlight. The control unit connects to a computer via an USB port, whereby user-configurable control information is downloaded. A computer program running on the computer enables operating conditions of the flashlight to be selected by a user according to predetermined types of activation, e.g., of the push button. The operating conditions are collated into operating instructions associated with the predetermined types of activation. The operating instructions are converted into byte code and downloaded to and stored on a memory in the control unit. Upon detecting a predetermined activation type, the control unit accesses the operating conditions and configures the flashlight accordingly.

Abstract: Indicator devices and systems for explosion-proof enclosures are described. The indicator devices include a sleeve coupled to a dome-like transparent member by a connector body, at least one conductive contact positioned in the sleeve, a piston responsive to an increase in pressure and positioned in the sleeve, and an indicator. The indicator can be a light source positioned in the transparent member or an alarm external to the indicator device. Upon an increase in a pressure in an enclosure to which an indicator device is attached, the piston shifts and contacts the at least one conductive contact and permits the completion of an electrical circuit from a power source to the indicator. The indicator systems include an indicator device coupled to an explosion-proof enclosure.

Abstract: A low profile lighting apparatus is characterized by a battery housing, a rail-engaging plate connected to the housing by a pair of arms, and a recessed activating push-button located between the arms and adjacent the rail-engaging plate. A flexible resilient tab, also recessed between the arms, secures the apparatus to a rail. A lock-out switch is built into a plug for closing an end of the housing. The plug has three discrete rotational positions, one for attachment, a second for activation of an illumination source, and a third for preventing accidental activation of the illumination source by requiring simultaneous axial pressure and rotation. Instead of the plug, a hinged door having a sliding latch part can be utilized. The sliding latch part includes a pair of resilient legs that cooperate with surfaces inside the door to urge the latch part toward a latching condition.

  • Patent number: 8210707
Abstract: Provided is an improved flashlight structure applicable to a flashlight for use at special sites. The flashlight structure includes a press switch whose protruding end is constantly received in a recessed area. Therefore, should the flashlight be dropped, with the press switch facing down, the press switch will not be pressed inward (and hence turned on or off) by accident. Also, the flashlight structure includes a partition plate for separating batteries in the flashlight and preventing the batteries from overheating due to close contact. A lighting unit connected to the open end of the flashlight structure is peripherally provided with ribs of different widths for engaging with the corresponding slots and thus positioning the lighting unit properly. An annular isolation portion in the middle section of the press switch is tightly engaged with the inner periphery of an end hole of the flashlight structure to prevent entry of external moisture.

Abstract: An LED underwater light, which can be hand-held or mounted on an underwater camera housing, is switchable between two light modes. A first embodiment of the dive light is a focus light, used for initial focusing with a still underwater camera. Incorporated in the focus light is a red light source to which the focus light can be switched from initially projected white light. The switch is used to switch off a series of white LEDs while switching on a series of red LEDs. In a second embodiment, the dive light is a flood/spot light, and enables a diver to quickly switch between flood and spot beams, via separate LED arrays.
