Abstract: A light signal transmitter and a light receiver for an optical sensor may be used for an industrial automation system. The light signal transmitter has a semiconductor-based light source for generating light. The semiconductor-based light source is disposed in an installation space between outer layers of a multi-layer circuit board. The light emission direction of the semiconductor-based light source is oriented substantially parallel to the layers of the printed circuit board. A deflection unit deflects the light emitted by the semiconductor-based light source in a direction substantially perpendicular to the layers of the printed circuit board. In the case of the light receiver, a light sensor is provided in place of the light source. Such optical sensors can be designed in a particularly flat and installation-friendly manner.

Abstract: A light flux control member has a back face provided with a recess and a ring-like-recess-portion surrounding the recess. Output light of a point-like-light-source (light emission element) is incident to the recess and the ring-like-recess-portion. Incident light to the recess is emitted from a light control emission face after inner-propagation. Incident light to the ring-like-recess-portion is refracted as to hardly generate inner-propagation light deflected to directions near to a direction of reference optical axis L, resulting in outgoing from any part of the light control emission face, or, if some outgoing occurs from the light control emission face, such outgoing occurs only at an outer periphery portion of the light control emission face. As a result, illumination light quality is avoided from being reduced by appearance of conspicuous ring-like bright part. In addition, uniform illumination light can be supplied to a broad angle range.

Abstract: An LED waterproof diffuser has an LED substrate housing, a diffusing portion and an embedded locating portion. The housing is of a 3D holding space formed by an end wall and a periphery. An LED inlet is formed at the other end of the periphery. The hollow diffusing portion is protruded from the center of the end wall of the LED substrate housing in a reducing pattern. The embedded locating portion is formed externally onto the diffusing portion, and can also be embedded securely into the hole of an existing shell plate. The diffuser allows one to assemble a single or several LED units, thus reducing the manufacturing cost and realizing excellent waterproofing effects, while enabling partial replacement or maintenance of LED elements. Moreover, since the outer diameter of the diffusing portion is smaller than that of the LED substrate housing, a smaller hole area for assembly can be obtained.

Abstract: An LED display with a reduced thickness is described. In one embodiment, the LED display includes a second support plate between a front support plate and a back support plate. The second support plate enables the front support plate to be thinner than if the second support plate was not included. The second support plate increases the distance between an LED chip and a light exit surface thereby allowing the front support plate thickness to be reduced by about the thickness of the second support plate. In one embodiment, the second support plate allows the thickness of an LED display to be thinner. The second support plate adds structural integrity to a back support plate. Therefore, the back support plate can be thinner, and thickness of the LED display can be reduced.

The lens member is configured such that, when the angle of a light beam emitted from the lens member with respect to a principal light axis is ?1, a light beam with the maximum emission angle ?1 from the lens member is emitted from the refracting surface in the vicinity of a point where the refracting surface and the principal light axis cross each other. With this configuration, even when the light-emitting surface of a light source is large, it is possible to suppress the spread of emergent light from the lens member, obtaining a light intensity distribution with high uniformity.
