Patent number: 7478931Abstract: Apparatus includes a mounting plate having a hole in a center portion thereof, a recessed light support member having laterally-extending flanges on each of two essentially parallel sides, and a guide disposed on the top surface of the plate, the guide having a longitudinal section offset from the top surface by a distance greater than the thickness of the flanges, where the flanges of the recessed light support member are slidable laterally between the top surface of the plate and the longitudinal section of the guide. A method of servicing a lighting fixture having a can includes sliding the can laterally from a position where the can is centered over the hole to a position where a servicing space is effected between a perimeter of the hole and the can.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2006Date of Patent: January 20, 2009Assignee: Ruud Lighting, Inc.Inventors: Don Miletich, Brian L. Publication number: 20090016071Abstract: A bracket for controlling the gap between a light housing and bumper on a vehicle, the bracket is provided that includes a first generally flat surface defined by a first bracket leg, a series of second surfaces defined by the first bracket leg and raised above the first surface. The bracket also provides one or more first dual engagement clips supported on the first surface of the first bracket leg to clip a vehicle bumper to the bracket and one or more hooks each supported on a second surface of the first bracket leg allowing engagement of the light housing and bracket. The bracket allows a small uniform gap to be provided between the light housing and bumper and allows the light housing to be removed without removal of the bumper.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2008Publication date: January 15, 2009Applicant: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Chris Stoffel, Nick Massaro, Patrick Shafer

Patent number: 7473005Abstract: A light assembly is provided for installation in one of an insulation capable (IC) environment and a non-insulation capable (non-IC) environment. The light assembly comprises a light fixture and a label. The light fixture includes a housing having an open end and a wall visible through the open end, the wall defining an aperture having a size sufficient for determining whether insulation is within a predetermined distance of the light fixture. The label includes an indicia signaling a user to use the aperture to make a determination whether insulation is within the predetermined distance of the light fixture and to make a lamp selection based on the determination.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2006Date of Patent: January 6, 2009Inventor: Aaron O'Brien

Patent number: 7470048Abstract: The fire-rated recessed downlight includes a mantle, and a light fixture which is fixed in the mantle, said mantle having at least one radiating hole, in which a dilatable fireproof piece is fixed. The radiating hole is connected with outside of the mantle through a radiating aperture. The radiating hole of the mantle and the dilatable fireproof piece could help to radiate the heat in ordinary situations and the dilatable fireproof piece will expand rapidly to close the radiating hole when on fire, therefore the fire inside the mantle will not spread to the outside.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2005Date of Patent: December 30, 2008Inventor: Liangju Wu

Publication number: 20080304269Abstract: A lighting fixture comprises a mounting assembly and two rails. At least one of the rails is slidable relative to the mounting assembly. The rails are each extruded, and have profiles which are substantially similar to each other. Each rail has a male component which fits within a female component of the other. Also, a fixture comprising a mounting assembly comprising an opening through which a light engine housing can be inserted, and (1) a spring clip and/or (2) a clip engagement structure. Also, a fixture comprising a mounting assembly, a first set of rails, and a supplemental rail. The supplemental rail is slidable relative to the light emitting element mounting assembly. Also, a fixture comprising a mounting assembly, a set of rails, and an engagement element having a first portion being in contact with a first rail and a second portion in contact with the second rail.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 5, 2008Publication date: December 11, 2008Applicant: Cree LED Lighting Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Paul Kenneth PICKARD, James Michael Lay, Gary David Trott

Publication number: 20080278953Abstract: In an embodiment of an assembly for recessed mounting of a body, the body includes proximal and distal end and further includes as least one mounting point. The assembly includes a threaded shaft connected to body through the mounting point and capable of rotatable movement relative to the mounting point. A toggle having a first end including a threaded interior and a second end that is a free end is screwed onto the threaded shaft and rotatable around it. A spring is mounted around the threaded shaft between the mounting point of the body and the first end of the toggle, whereby the spring biases the toggle toward the distal end of the body.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 7, 2007Publication date: November 13, 2008Applicant: RUUD LIGHTING, INC.Inventor: Eric Haugaard

Publication number: 20080266883Abstract: A recessed lamp structure comprises: a lamp bulb, a lamp holder, a rotatory carrier and an outer mounting base. The rotatory carrier is securely screwed onto a track frame, which has a hollow sliding slot on the center of the bended body thereof. The track frame is securely positioned on the axially connecting base of the rotatory carrier via two axial plates that locate on the rearward of the track frame. The lamp holder is rotatably coupled with the rotatory carrier by two bolts. The bolts are mounted in the limited connection space between the lamp holder and the rotatory carrier. Besides, the lamp holder is shiftable along the sliding slot for adjusting the lighting angle within approximate 70 degrees. Consequently, the recessed lamp structure of the present invention has simplified components and is easy to practice.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2007Publication date: October 30, 2008Inventor: Yen-Chang Chen
