Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for the production of gypsum board using starch pellets. In accordance with the present disclosure, the starch necessary for board formation is provided in the form of starch pellets. These pellets are mixed with a gypsum slurry in a mixer. The pellets are initially insoluble and do not dissolve. However, during subsequent drying stages, the pellets become soluble and dissolve into the gypsum phase. This both provides the desired starch component and also results in the formation of voids within the set gypsum.

A fluid path is provided from the chamber through the ports, around the inner magnet motor, and through the inner magnet rotor, which fluid path is sealed from the environment by the canister.

Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for applying liquid feed additives to a feed composition. In one embodiment, the system has a spray housing defining a spray chamber located adjacent a mix housing carrying a material composition. The mix housing defines a mix chamber, which contains an actuating device, such as an auger, that moves the material stream through the mix chamber. The mix chamber and spray chamber are in fluid communication. A spray nozzle is coupled to the spray housing and in fluid communication with an air source and liquid additive tank. The spray nozzle sprays a fog of air and liquid additive through the spray chamber and into the mix chamber, which gets deposited on the passing feed stream.

  • Patent number: 6637926
Abstract: A fluid mixing device, for the continuous mixing of two or more fluids, having a mixing chamber which has fluid contact surfaces defining an internal chamber region, a fluid inlet, for feeding fluid into the chamber region, a fluid outlet, for feeding fluid out of the chamber region, and a fluid mixer within the chamber region which is capable of inducing mixing of two or more fluids within a mixing region. The mixing chamber is configured so that the dead volume within the chamber region is filled in such a way that the mixing region corresponds to the chamber region. A fluid inlet valve for use in the fluid mixing device has entrance and exit aperture sealing means which are adapted to allow passage of fluid respectively into and out of a body portion of the valve, according to a specified pressure differential between the pressure externally of the entrance aperture and the pressure externally of the exit aperture.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for mixing at least two reactants is taught wherein a first reactant is delivered to a reaction zone through a first annular flow path and a second reactant is delivered to the reaction zone through a second annular flow path. The first and second annular flow paths are concentric with one another and the two reactants intermix with one another in the reaction zone. There is a rotating disc having a surface, defining one boundary of the reaction zone. The flow of the first and second reactants across the rotating disc and through the reaction zone is generally radial and has a residence time in the reaction zone of not more than about 100 msec, and preferably not more than about 50 msec. The reaction zone resides in a main reactor vessel and there is a driven agitator residing in the main reactor vessel to stir the contents thereof.

  • Publication number: 20010024400
Abstract: A device for mixing of particulate material comprises a conical mixing vessel having a vertical axis, which vessel narrows in a downward direction and in which vessel at least one vertical mixing shaft is rotatable. A number of radial elements project from the mixing shaft, and carry paddles at their distal ends, adjacent the sidewall of the vessel. The radial elements are long and thin, while the mixing paddles are relatively short and are symmetrical round the axis of the elements. Due to the rotating paddles and the conical shape of the vessel, the contents move spirally upwardly. The layers of material closest the wall end to have less spiral and more upwards movement, so that the intermediate layer is subjected to strong shearing forces that promotes mixing.
