  • Patent number: 6681837
Abstract: An air releasing check structure of a metal injecting machine has a seat rod installed between a rear seat of a feeding screw rod and the extruding head at a front end of the front section. A periphery of the seat rod is enclosed by a check toggle. If the material to be ejected has bubbles so that it is not extruded effectively, the bubbles will flow to the exhausting grooves of the check toggle. Then the bubbles are drained out. Thereby, the bubbles in the material are vented out so that the material becomes dense. When the material becomes dense with high tension, the pressure of material will be greater than the force for buckling the elastic toggles so that the elastic toggles expand. As a result, the elastic toggle will further isolate the exhausting groove. Thereby, the material moves forwards to be ejected from the extruding head.

  • Patent number: 6406174
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for controlling a degree of attrition or wear of a sealing screw conveying plasticized material are provided. The apparatus includes an opening which intersects the wall of a housing of the screw in the region of the screw threads or in the region immediately neighboring the screw threads. Another opening intersects the wall of the housing. The two openings are spaced apart axially from each other and the pressure sensors connected to both openings. The process involved conveys a plasticized material against a resistance, the resistance being a sealing screw bearing supported within the screw housing. The pressure of the conveyed material is measured at two locations spaced apart from each other in the direction of conveyance. The two locations are disposed on both sides of a resistance body towards which the sealing screw conveys the material. The difference between the two measured values is used to indicate the degree of wear of the screw or its housing, respectively.

The rings comprise a plurality of spaced driven rotor rings spaced apart from each other and a plurality of non-driven but rotatable floating rings interleaved between each pair of driven rotor rings. Both rings have parallel upstream and downstream faces between which polymer flow passageways extend so that the polymer melt moves downstream first through one type of ring followed by movement through the other type of ring and the viscosity of the melt causes the rotatable floating rings to be rotated by the driven rings at a slower speed than the driven rings so that shearing force on the melt effects mixing of the melt.

Projected portions and recessed portions extending radially and alternately arranged in a circumferential direction are formed on opposing side faces of the rotatable disc and fixed doughnut members in such a manner that the depths thereof are increased in proportion to the distance from a center of the screw shaft. Accordingly, the kneading apparatus is allowed to have a small construction and yet capable of efficiently kneading the material. In addition, material is prevented from remaining locally in the apparatus, and thereby a proper shear force is applied to the entire material.

  • Patent number: 5348388
Abstract: An extrusion apparatus or extruder for mixing and extruding of thermo-plastic and rubber like process materials has a rotor member rotatable within the bore of a barrel member. Interposed between the feed end and the discharge end, the rotor and barrel members are provided with one or more mixing stages, consisting of process material transfers, rotor to barrel, barrel to enlarged rotor, enlarged rotor to enlarged barrel, enlarged barrel to enlarged rotor, enlarged rotor to barrel and barrel to rotor. Each process material transfer has the rotor or barrel member provided with multiple grooves which communicate with co-acting receiving rotor or barrel member multiple grooves. Each revolution of the rotor transfers process material from each sending groove to all of the co-acting receiving grooves, an action which reduces the thickness of the transferred material in the ratio of one to ten.

  • Patent number: 5332314
Abstract: An extrusion apparatus having a rotor member rotatable within a barrel member longitudinal and cross-sectionally mixes and extrudes thermo-plastic and thermo-setting materials. The apparatus is articulated into sections including a barrel entrance and forcing section, a blending section, and an end discharge section. The barrel entrance and forcing section consists of helical extrusion grooves which terminate at an abrupt rotor to barrel and barrel to rotor material transfers. The blending section recognizes that blending is volumetric i.e. three-dimensional and therefore longitudinal displacement of the material in relation to itself is one of the dimensions. Longitudinal displacement is accomplished in the blending section by providing a double extrusion capacity main extrusion rotor and a single capacity backfeed rotor arranged to recirculate half of the material processed by the main stream rotor.

  • Patent number: 5320796
Abstract: A method for producing powder mixtures capable of inducing an even more intimate, microhomogeneous intermixing in a heterogeneous powder composed of at least two types of powders. The method is effective even for the mixing of an aggregable powder and a nonaggregable powder. According to the method, a heterogeneous powder composed of at least two type of powders that have been preliminarily mixed by stirring is introduced into an inlet while a rotating axle is turning and is axially transported within a cylinder by a screw. As the heterogeneous powder passes between rotating disks and fixed disks, it is subjected to a highly efficient mixing by compression and shear forces due to a sliding-shear action exerted between depressions and elevations installed on the opposing surfaces of the rotating disks and fixed disks. The mixture passes in sequence through multiple stages of the rotating and fixed disks. A powder mixture, which has been microhomogeneously interdispersed, is discharged from the outlet.

Abstract: The mass which is made flowable (rendered plastic) must be degassed on its way to the outlet. In order to make the degassing section free of pressure a diaphragm, through which the mass flows, is provided further upstream. The extruding helix is provided with at least one helical flute, the free flow passage of which is blocked, and the diaphragm is provided with an adjustable throughput area. The diaphragm can simply consist of two perforated disks, which are rotatable with respect to each other around their axes. Each perforated disk has a fixed throughput area. The holes of both perforated disks overlap more or less, or not at all. The throughput rate of the mass through the extruding device can therefore, according to the state or the kind of mass, be regulated independently of the rotation speed of the extruding helix. Different masses can be extruded with one and the same helix, in a way hitherto not possible. One can also use an extruding helix which is shorter than was hitherto possible.
