Controlled By A Disparate Device Patents (Class 368/1)
  • Patent number: 4908806
Abstract: A directional starting spring which ensures that an AC synchronous motor is rotating in the proper direction is disclosed. The AC synchronous motor includes a circular magnet rotating in "synch" with the frequency of the alternating current. The magnet rotates a worm gear attached to the center on its axial face. This worm gear drives a second worm gear positioned perpendicular to the first worm gear. The second worm gear drives a series of gears which display the elapsed time. Attached to this second worm gear is the directional starting spring. If the motor is rotating in the proper direction the spring contacts the housing of the meter and slides on the second worm gear. If the motor is rotating in the wrong direction the spring contacts the axial face of the magnet stopping the rotating magnet and pushing it in the proper direction.

  • Patent number: 4725996
Abstract: The circuit comprises an elapsed time indicating meter and a silicon-controlled rectifier, used to supply power to the meter, connected in series across the circuit's first and third terminals. Additionally, the circuit includes a small resistor connected between the second and third input terminals, that is, connected in series with the a.c. device. This small resistor receives the current through the a.c. device and the voltage across the small resistor is indicative of the operational state of the a.c. device. A variable potentiometer is connected full scale across the small resistor and the variable voltage is amplified by a common-base transistor. This amplified voltage is both rectified and filtered, serving as the SCR's gate terminal input for triggering the SCR.The potentiometer is adjustable to allow the SCR to trigger in either one of two conditions.

  • Patent number: 4615624
Abstract: A suspended-line-and-clock trail monitor improved (1) by anchoring the monitor-end of the trip-line in such a manner that when a crossing animal increases line tension beyond a predetermined threshold, stored line pays out to and is carried by the animal, thereby recording its precise path and direction of travel across a line of almost any length and (2) by introducing a resettable, lightly triggered actuator between the line and the clock thereby providing reliable operation from a mass-produced, low-cost, general-purpose digital clock in place of the usual stop watch, even with a line of light sewing thread. Such thread cost effectively combines sufficient line length for long runs with good portability.

  • Patent number: 4604621
Abstract: The electromagnetic transmission in an interference-laden environment of events defined by the time of their occurrence is accomplished by repeatedly generating, at equal intervals after occurrence of the event, signals representing the occurrence of the event. An event which must be defined by the time t.sub.e at which it occurs triggers a switch which in turn triggers a time base whose signal is sent to a counter. The counter produces at its output a sequence of pulses which are coded in a coder. The code indicates for each pulse the deviation in time .DELTA.T.sub.i which separates it from the time at which the event occurred. The sequence of pulses is sent electromagnetically to a receiver via a transmitter. The first interference-free pulse received is processed by a decoder which provides the value .DELTA.T.sub.i to an arithmetic unit. The arithmetic unit subtracts the value .DELTA.T.sub.i from the time of day t.sub.h to obtain the time of day t.sub.e of the event.

  • Patent number: 4394090
Abstract: An indicating electronic timer useful for timing processing events and for controlling a process measures the elapsed time from a moment at which a process variable attains a predetermined value and produces a signal which varies in accordance with the elapsed time. During a timing operation, the signal is displayed on a display device which normally displays the process variable, and may be such that the display device indicates the percentage of a predetermined time interval which has elapsed. The timer may be conveniently implemented with relatively inexpensive integrated circuits, such as a variable oscillator, binary counters, and D/A converters.

  • Patent number: 4232382
Abstract: A watch/calculator is disclosed which employs a hold circuit to hold clock incrementing pulses when data from the clock is transferred to calculator circuitry or an arithmetic operation is performed on the data. When the time data is returned from the calculator circuitry to the clock circuitry or the arithmetic operation is completed, the hold circuit releases any held incrementing signal so that an increment signal is not lost, even when the time data is momentarily out of the clock circuitry in the calculator circuitry or other operations are being performed on the time data. Thus, when the time data is returned to the clock circuitry or the operation is completed, the data is incremented or updated as it would have been normally.
