  • Patent number: 4233680
Abstract: An electric clock with a quartz oscillator, a frequency divider connected following the latter and an output stage driven by the latter, in the output of the output stage there being disposed a single phase stepping motor which acts on a clockwork gear train driving the hour indicator and the minute indicator, as well as a storage battery supplying the operating voltage and a charging circuit for the battery. The single phase stepping motor and the clockwork gear train form a self-contained construction assembly. The quartz oscillator, the frequency divider, the output stage and the charging circuit are arranged on a single printed circuit board. The printed circuit board and the construction assembly are connected with one another via two electrically conducting pins secured on the excitation coil. The printed circuit board and the construction assembly are secured in common on a carrier plate, the latter having an opening for the hour tube and the minute tube, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4228648
Abstract: A dual display timepiece employs a stepping motor capable of rotation in sense for driving hour and minute hands in an analogue display and an electronic digital display for displaying other information (second, date, chronograph, etc.). In order to facilitate hour hand corrections a logic circuit is provided which permits the user to enter the nature (positive or negative) and the amount of correction desired into the digital display. Following such entry the hour hand is corrected automatically by application of N.times.Y higher than normal frequency signals to the analogue display, where N corresponds to the number of signals required to effect a one hour or half hour correction and Y corresponds to the correction entered by the user.

  • Patent number: 4223528
Abstract: A unidirectional gear transmission of reduced axial thickness advantageou employed in timepieces is adapted to be driven by a stepping motor. The driving gear is provided with an alternating pattern of teeth having a first thickness and spacing and sets of two teeth having greater thickness and spacing. The driven gear is provided with an alternating pattern of teeth corresponding to the first thickness teeth of the driving gear and two spaces corresponding to the greater thickness teeth of the driving gear separated by a single tooth. Regular stepping rotation in either sense can be transmitted from the driving gear to the driven gear, but transmission of rotation from driven to driving gear is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4218876
Abstract: A combined timekeeper and calculator implemented on an LSI semiconductor chip includes a generator stage for generating basic clock signals and system clock signals which are obtainable by modifying the basic clock signals, and a processor stage responsive to the supply of the system clock signals for performing the operations required for the timekeeper mode and calculator mode. The basic clock signals also are modified to create second signals useful in the timekeeper mode. The generator to supply the processor unit with the system clock signals while the second signal is being generated. Upon completing the operations by the processor unit, a clock control circuit prevents the processor unit from being supplied with the system clock signals.

  • Patent number: 4217751
Abstract: In an electronic timepiece having a stepping motor, a drive pulse is produced for normally driving the motor, a detecting pulse is generated for detecting whether the motor has rotated in response to the last drive pulse and a correction pulse is produced for driving the motor when non-rotation has been detected. A current limiting resistor is disposed in series with the motor for limiting the current thereto and a switching transistor is connected across the current limiting resistor to short circuit same to effect an increase in the current to the motor. During the detecting pulse, the voltage across the current limiting resistor is compared to a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4209970
Abstract: An electronic timepiece in which a higher frequency signal from a frequency standard is divided down to a lower frequency drive signal by a frequency converter. The drive signal is applied through a driver circuit to an electro-mechanical transducer which actuates time-representing members to indicate time. A control means is coupled to intermediate stages of the frequency converter and produces higher frequency drive signals. At least one contact plate made of flexible, electrically conductive material is adapted to be depressed from outside the watch case through a recess formed therein whereby the control means is connected to the driver circuit to apply the higher frequency drive signals to the electro-mechanical transducer thereby rapidly advancing the time-representing members.
