  • Patent number: 10331657
Abstract: An analytics tool of a journal-based multi-data-store database obtains respective rejection cause descriptors for a set of transactions rejected by the journal manager of the database due to read-write conflicts. A particular rejection cause descriptor indicates a query predicate used for a read set of a transaction request which was rejected by a journal manager of the database due to a read-write conflict between the read set and a previously-committed transaction. The analytics tool prepares a database contention analysis using the rejection cause descriptors, and transmits the analysis to a client.

  • Patent number: 10223202
Abstract: In an optical disc apparatus that records and reproduces data onto and from an optical disc in units of predetermined block, an information divider divides the data so as to reduce an amount of the data included in each of blocks when a recording state of the optical disc does not satisfy a predetermined criterion, and reproduces recording data in units of the block by adding sub-information including a value indicating the amount of the data included in each of the blocks. An error-correction encoder circuit encodes the recording data in a first error-correction code format, and a recorder converts encoded recording data into a recording signal, and records the recording signal onto the optical disc. A quality evaluator circuit produces an evaluation value indicating a recording quality based on a result of reproducing the recording signal recorded on the optical disc.

  • Patent number: 8942074
Abstract: In a multilayer optical disc having information layers conforming to a plurality of different optical disc standards, because the type of each information layer is not recorded in the other information layers, in read and write operations by a compatible optical disc device conforming to a plurality of optical disc standards, every time the information layer being accessed changes, it has been necessary to read the type of the information layer and select a method of generating a tracking error signal adapted to the type of information layer, so access has taken time. In order to solve the above problem, in the optical multilayer disc according to the present invention, having information layers conforming to a plurality of different optical disc standards, in an area in one of the information layers, information about the other information layers is recorded. The time required to access the other information layers can be reduced by using this information to select a tracking error signal generating method.

  • Patent number: 8908488
Abstract: The present technology relates to an optical recording medium for realizing an optical recording medium capable of high-capacity recording. A groove and a land are formed, the groove being concave and the land being convex when seen from a side of a laser light incident surface, both of the groove and the land being recording tracks where recording or reproduction of information is performed. According to this recording layer, a pitch between the groove and the land that are adjacent recording tracks is within a range of 250 nm to 200 nm. Moreover, recording or reproduction of information is performed with respect to the recording tracks by irradiation of laser light whose wavelength is 400 nm to 415 nm by an optical system whose NA is 0.85±0.1.

  • Patent number: 8891343
Abstract: The present techniques present methods and systems for increasing a data reading rate on optical data disks using a single reading head. The methods take advantage of the difference between a mean focal distance (MFD), or minimum spacing that the detector can distinguish between bits, and the minimum separation of bits in a single track to increase the reading speed. As the bits may be more closely spaced across adjacent tracks or layers, these techniques may be used to increase the reading speed of the disk. Specifically, the data symbols that make up a single bit-stream may be stored in a pattern horizontally across adjacent tracks, or vertically across adjacent layers. Accordingly, the focal point of the detector is scanned across the disk in the same pattern to read the individual data symbols.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention, to provide a recording method and a storage medium for BCA data with high reliability for a storage medium and a method for reproducing BCA data from the storage medium, and an information recording apparatus and an information reproducing apparatus. In a conventional optical disk, low reliability data is recorded in a data area of BCA. Thus, the thickness of a film material for use in a recording layer oriented to BCA data or close to the inner periphery of the storage medium in the vicinity thereof is formed in uniform thickness by using a substrate of the storage medium, the substrate being formed by being suctioned by means of adsorbing mechanisms formed in an arc shape so as to integrated two of the adsorbing mechanisms to be adjacent to each other.

  • Patent number: RE45292
Abstract: An optical disk structure and optical disk recorder which enables data to be rewritten onto the recording layer of the optical disk. A clock reference structure is permanently formed along servo tracks of the optical disk. An optical transducer is coupled to the clock reference structure and generates a clock reference signal simultaneously with writing new data onto the recording layer of the optical disk. The data is written as data marks along the servo tracks. Each of the data marks includes edges. The edges of the data marks are recorded in synchronization with a write clock. The write clock is phase-locked with the clock reference signal. Therefore, the edges of the data marks are aligned with the clock reference structure with sub-bit accuracy. Standard DVD-ROM disk readers are not able to detect the high spatial frequency of the clock reference structure.
