  • Patent number: 11481323
Abstract: In one embodiment, one or more control units may store a position tracker associated with a first window of memory blocks and allow a first processing unit to write data within the first window. The control units may receive, from a second processing unit, a request for reading data with a memory-reading address, compare the memory-reading address to a first starting address of the first window, and prevent the second processing unit from reading the data when the memory-reading address is greater than or equal to the first starting address of the first window. The control units may store, when the data writing process is complete, an updated position tracker of a second window of memory blocks and allow the second processing unit to read the data based on a determination that the memory-reading address is less than a second starting address of the second window.

Abstract: A flash memory controller includes a read-only memory, a microprocessor and a buffer memory, wherein the buffer memory includes a data temporary storage area having continuous addresses. When the flash memory controller receives data from a host device, the microprocessor determines whether there is enough space between the last stored data in the data temporary storage area and an end address of the data temporary storage area to store the entire content of the data. If there is not enough space between the last stored data in the data temporary storage area and the end address to store the entire content of the data, the microprocessor directly stores the data from a starting address in the data temporary storage area, without writing any part of the data to the area before the end address of the data temporary storage area.

  • Patent number: 7961571
Abstract: A recording method, particularly suitable for use in a digital video-camera, is described according to which a digital signal (10), deriving from the encoding of an audio-video signal is temporarily stored in a buffer (11) and from there recorded in a dual layer DVD (12) in successive recording intervals (22) or packets. The start/stop of a recording interval is normally controlled according to the level (15) of filling of the buffer. The digital signal is partitioned in portions that need to be entirely recorded on one single layer, and this triggers the need for a layer jump independently from the level of filling of the buffer. In order to avoid starting a layer jump with the buffer already partly filled, and therefore having a short non-recording interval (23) when time is mostly needed for calibrations, it is proposed to adjust the resolution in the encoding of the audio-video signal so as to have the buffer close to empty when the layer jump occurs.

The device has a real-time information buffer and an interface for transfer of real-time information and commands between a source and the recording means. Abstract: Disclosed herein is an information recording/reproducing apparatus that includes a first and a second recording/reproducing modules, a buffer memory to store information temporally, and a control module that switches between a first mode and a second mode when the information is dubbed from the first recording/reproducing module to the second recording/reproducing module. In the first mode, information in the first recording/reproducing module is reproduced and stored in the buffer memory. In the second mode, the information stored in the buffer memory is recorded in the second recording/reproducing module. The apparatus further includes a temperature detecting module. Depending on the temperature detected by this module, the apparatus changes the movement of the second recording/reproducing module in the first mode and the movement of the first recording/reproducing module in the second mode.

Abstract: A data recording method for an optical disk drive is implemented by the following steps. First, one or more data blocks are encoded and recorded sequentially, and it detects if a buffer under run occurs. If a buffer under run occurs, the recording does not stop immediately until at least the main data of the data block being currently recorded have been recorded completely. Afterwards, it restarts to encode and record from the data block next to the data block where the recording stops. Moreover, the recording also can stops if a servo error is detected, and the data restart to encode and record from the data block where the recording stops or at least one data block preceding the data block where the recording stops.

Abstract: In a conventional method for preventing a collision between a lens and an optical disc which uses a control system similar to the servo control of the optical disc, it is feared that, when there is no need to apply the servo, the collision prevention method may not perform its function satisfactorily. In an optical disc device that operates with a part of its functions suspended for reduced power consumption, the conventional method is not enough to avoid the collision between the lens and the optical disc. By arranging the lens/disc collision prevention mechanism independently operable, it is possible to prevent the collision between the lens and the disc even during the operation with limited functions.

Abstract: A coder codes an information signal. A rate controller controls a coding rate of the coder in accordance with complexity of the information signal. The rate controller controls a coding amount per unit time in the coding process so that an average value of the coding amount can be approximate to an average rate. The coded data is temporarily memorized in a temporary memory unit and processed by an information processing unit such as a recorder and a transmitter. The information processing unit measures an information processing rate in processing the information. The rate controller adjusts the average rate so that the average rate is lower than the information processing rate measured by the information processing unit, or the rate controller compares a threshold value of a used amount of the temporary memory unit which is previously set and an actually used amount of the temporary memory unit and reduces the average rate when the used amount exceeds the threshold value.

Abstract: When “buffer under run” (BUR) occurs during recording of a visible image on an optical disk, recording operation is interrupted. As in the case of type A, when BUR1 occurs after data have been transferred through an integral multiple of one revolution, data are recorded continuously from a reference angle position without host device discarding data. As in the case of type B, when BUR2 occurs after data have been transferred in a value which is other than the integral multiple of one revolution, data corresponding to a duration from the position where BUR occurs to the start of the next revolution are discarded, data are continuously recorded from the reference angle position. Thereby, rendering can be spliced in a visually-smooth manner.

Abstract: An optical disk apparatus which records data on the basis of a predetermined minimum amount of recording data. Recording data supplied from an external device is stored in a buffer memory and then encoded and recorded on an optical disk. The data is recorded in units of one ECC block (sixteen sectors). When the buffer memory has a free space corresponding to data amount of less than one ECC block, a system controller supplies a request for data in a data amount of the free space to the host device to store data corresponding to one ECC block in the buffer memory, as a result of which data filling by means of access to the optical disk is prevented.

Abstract: High-rate writing of data recorded on a CD into a hard disk drive (HDD) is performed while reproducing data read out of the CD at the standard bit rate prescribed for the CD. PCM data corresponding to a playback time of 10 seconds, for example, is read out of a CD and stored in a memory. The data is read out of the memory at appropriate timing and outputted after being converted into an analog audio signal by a D/A converter. In parallel, data for writing is read out of the CD in succession to reading of the data for playback and stored in the memory. The data read out of the memory is coded and compressed by an encoder and then stored in the memory. The compressed data is read out of the memory in units of a certain amount suitable for writing in an HDD and then written in the HDD.
