  • Patent number: 6788359
Abstract: A method for illuminating a liquid crystal display device, a back-light assembly for performing the same and a liquid crystal display device using the same can improve the front luminance and production yield. Lights from a lamp is incident to a LCD panel side, which are then primarily diffused for a uniformity of the luminous flux of the incident lights. The luminous flux of the primarily diffused lights is condensed with respect to a first orientation component on a plane in parallel with the LCD panel, and then partially and secondarily diffused for extending a view angle of pixels of the LCD panel. After the luminous flux of the secondarily diffused lights is condensed with respect to a second orientation component perpendicular to the first orientation on the parallel plane, the condensed lights are illuminated onto the LCD panel.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for obtaining optimum parameter values for a read channel employed in a disc drive storage system are provided in which data having a known pattern is written on a disc surface of the disc drive storage system. The data written on the disc surface is then read to obtain a readback signal. The readback signal is passed through the read channel. A readback signal response is obtained at an output test point of the read channel. The readback signal response at the output test point is compared with a target response of the read channel at the output test point. The comparison is carried out using frequency spectral analysis. At least one parameter of the read channel is adjusted if the readback signal response substantially differs from the target response.

  • Patent number: 6183337
Abstract: A toy figure has a movable mouth coupled to an actuator in the belly area. A speech generator stores sound elements for an entire song, verse, or nursery rhyme. The speech generator is provided with a first track of sequenced sound elements (singing version) that form a song when sequentially generated, and a related second track of a like number of sequenced sound elements (humming version). Sound elements from the first and second tracks are interchangeable at any given point during sequential output thereof A switch located in the mouth is connected to the speech generator to provide input as to the mouth position, i.e. open or closed. Squeezing the belly of the figure opens the mouth, changing the state of the switch and initiating an output sequence from the speech generator. When the mouth is open, the child is able to easily control the mouth position by varying the pressure on the belly actuator. The speech generator checks the state of the mouth switch at given intervals.

  • Patent number: 5103442
Abstract: A simplified acoustic disk record playback apparatus is disclosed having a battery-powered motor driving a turn table through a belt and pulley system. The turn table is centrally mounted on a rotating shaft. Overlying the turn table is a disk record which may have a plurality of grooves starting on its periphery. The turn table is spring biased towards a tone arm and associated record pickup stylus. The tone arm pivots horizontally, parallel to the plane of the disk record, but is held vertically by an overlying speaker cone, and is spring biased to a beginning playback position. The tone arm carries a center gear locking member on that side proximal to the turn table rotating shaft. A center gear is mounted on the turntable rotating shaft coplanar with the tone arm. • Patent number: 4547873
Abstract: A simplified sound reproducing device having a record disc 5 having a plurality of record grooves is driven by a constant torque spring motor 2. A turntable 3 and the record disc 5 are frictionally assembled so that relative slippage occurs between them in the direction of their rotation when an extra force is applied to the system. A sound reproducing member 10, applying a stylus pressure to a pickup 6, has a holding piece attached thereto which contacts the reverse face of the record disc 5 and stops its rotation when the sound transmitting member 10 is lifted up by tension exerted by a stretched pull string 14, when the string 14 is pulled to wind the constant torque spring motor. By virtue of this construction, the angle of rotation of the turntable 3 and the record disc 5, are shifted from each other so that the introductory part of the record groove, next to the one just completed, can be placed under the pickup 6 now returned to the starting point of sound reproduction, and played.
