Abstract: Systems and methods for providing an efficient mechanism for transmitting interference vectors to communications terminals, such as user equipments (UEs), in an over the air radio telecommunications network with spatially multiplexed multiple user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) capability. A new pre-coding information downlink channel is defined. Messages containing semi-persistent interference vector information for MU-MIMO user equipment are defined and transmitted over the new channel in a manner that allows infrequent transmission and efficient use of resources. Using the interference vectors and applying inter-user interference adaptation to received messages, the UEs may receive spatially multiplexed MIMO transmissions and actively remove inter-user interference after reception of the messages. Compression of the pre-coding vector information transmitted over the pre-coding information channel may result in additional increases in efficiency in the system.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for canceling cross-talk in a frequency-division multiplexed communication system. The disclosed frequency-division multiplexed communication system employs multiple carriers having overlapping channels and provides an improved cross-talk cancellation mechanism to address the resulting interference. Bandwidth compression is achieved using n level amplitude modulation in each frequency band. An FDM receiver is also disclosed that decomposes the received broadband signal into each of its respective frequency bands and returns the signal to baseband in the analog domain. Analog requirements are relaxed by removing cross-talk from adjacent RF channels, from image bands, and minimizing the performance degradation caused by In-phase and Quadrature-phase (I/Q) phase and gain mismatches in modulators and demodulators. The disclosed transmitter or receiver (or both) can be fabricated on a single integrated circuit.

The method mainly include: determining a transmit PSD mask according to a crosstalk status of a line; performing IWF operation using the transmit PSD mask; and dynamically managing line spectrum according to the result of the IWF operation. Therefore, various embodiments of the present invention allow the DSLAM performance to approximate the OSM performance without the need for a center controller and with a rather simple algorithm in a severe crosstalk scenario. Moreover, the embodiments of the present invention may help to simply the design of DSLAM optimization system and achieve a proper balance between the DSLAM performance and the complexity.

Abstract: System and method for processing communication signals in a communication system having a detector for detecting a parameter of a communication signal. A communication signal is provided to a non-linear processor (NLP) adapted to examine the signal and to decide whether or not to enter an active state based upon a parameter of the signal. If the NLP enters an active state, the NLP performs non-linear processing on the signal. The NLP communicates to the detector whether the NLP is active or inactive. If the NLP is active, a processing step of the detector is disabled.

Abstract: Signals in a multi-channel, impaired communication system are post-processed at the receiver. A triangular matrix Decision Feedback Demodulator (DFD) at the receiver extracts channels without requiring delivery of receiver parameters to the transmitter. Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) processing matrices and DFD parameters are computed by first applying matrix transformations to diagonalize the noise covariance matrix of the multiple channels received at the receiver. QR decompositions (i.e., decompositions into orthogonal and triangular matrices) are then applied to the main channels to obtain triangular channel matrices. The noise-diagonalizing transformations and QR decompositions are then combined to form the MIMO postprocessing matrices and DFD parameters. MIMO postprocessing matrices and DFD parameters are computed from training data and then adapted during live data transmission.

Abstract: A remote radio head unit (RRU) system for multiple operating frequency bands, multi-channels, driven by a single or more wide band power amplifiers. More specifically, the present invention enables multiple-bands RRU to use fewer power amplifers in order to reduce size and cost of the multi-band RRU. The present invention is based on the method of using duplexers and/or interference cancellation system technique to increase the isolation between the transmitter signal and receiver signal of the RRU.

Abstract: Combined echo and crosstalk cancellation is provided. Frequency domain adaptive filters are used to remove or reduce the effects of echo and crosstalk for a multi-channel and full-duplex communications system. Data from each transmit channel is buffered and converted to the frequency domain. The frequency domain data is multiplied by crosstalk coefficients to obtain a frequency domain correction signal for each channel. Adaptation of the crosstalk coefficients is based on correlations between the error signals and the data from each of the transmit channels. A single frequency domain transform engine, such as a Fast Fourier Transform engine, is employed for all calculations to save power and area.

  • Patent number: 7948862
Abstract: A crosstalk cancellation system and method is disclosed for use in a multi-channel communication system. Crosstalk which couples between channels is cancelled through use of an in-line FFE filter and in-line delay. A cross-connect system associated with each channel includes a cross-connect delay and cross-connect filter. The cross-connect system generates a cancellation signal for each of the channels, which is routed into a junction. The junction subtracts the cancellation signal from the received signal, which has also been delayed and filtered, to remove unwanted cross-talk. During training, cancellation magnitude is monitored at various delay offsets to determine which offset and corresponding filter coefficients, for each delay, maximizes cancellation. The filters are set with filter coefficients that maximize cancellation. The cross-connect delay with the maximum offset is set to zero and its calculated offset amount is established as the in-line delay offset.
