Abstract: A data processing apparatus maps input symbols to be communicated onto a predetermined number of sub-carrier signals of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) symbol. The data processor includes an interleaver memory which reads-in the predetermined number of data symbols for mapping onto the OFDM sub-carrier signals. The interleaver memory reads-out the data symbols on to the OFDM sub-carriers to effect the mapping, the read-out being in a different order than the read-in, the order being determined from a set of addresses, with the effect that the data symbols are interleaved on to the sub-carrier signals. The set of addresses are generated from an address generator which comprises a linear feedback shift register and a permutation circuit.

The apparatus includes first, second, third and fourth correlators, an average unit, and a length detector. The first, second, third and fourth correlators respectively correlate first, second, third and fourth CP parts within a frame boundary. The average unit averages the correlation values of the first, second, third and fourth correlators. The length detector determines the CP as an extended CP if the average value minus the correlation value of the fourth correlator is greater than a first threshold value. Accordingly, less memory may be required to determine a CP length as compared to the conventional art.

The transmission from the secondary to primary node in a wireless network is obtained using a first and a second sequence. The fast uplink ranging system calculates a correlation value using the received two pairs of ranging codes. An order in which complex exponential twiddle factors for removing complex exponential terms corresponding to a time delay are searched is determined using the correlation value. Therefore, it is possible to reduce a time required for searching a timing error of a terminal using non-periodic symmetry of complex exponential twiddle factors corresponding to the timing error, compared with a known method of searching a complex exponential twiddle factor.

Abstract: Interference management is provided through use of a user-based interference control and/or a network-based interference control. For user-based interference control, the terminals are informed of the inter-sector interference observed by the neighbor sectors and can adjust their transmit powers accordingly so that the inter-sector interference is maintained within acceptable levels. For network-based interference control, each sector is informed of the inter-sector interference observed by the neighbor sectors and regulates data transmissions for its terminals such that the inter-sector interference is maintained within acceptable levels. Each system may utilize only user-based interference control, or only network-based interference control, or both.

Abstract: It is an object to provide a wireless communication base station device that can prevent the decline of a system throughput due to the degradation of a utilization efficiency of a communication resource of a channel for carrying out a frequency diversity transmission when a frequency scheduling transmission and a frequency diversity transmission are concurrently carried out in multiple carrier communication. In the wireless communication base station device, a modulation unit (12) carries out modulation processing for Dch data after coding to generate a Dch data symbol. A modulation unit (22) carries out modulation processing for Lch data after coding to generate an Lch data symbol. An allocation unit (103) allocates the Dch data symbol and Lch data symbol to each sub-carrier composing an OFDM symbol and outputs the allocated sub-carrier to a multiplex unit (104).

Abstract: A method of fighting interference in a frequency-hopping communication system is disclosed. The system has at least one main sensor and one or more auxiliary sensors. According to at least one embodiment, frequency-hopping signals are received. The frequency-hopping signals are arranged to include useful bands and one or more guard bands inserted between the useful bands, and a ratio of the useful bands to the guard bands being chosen according to a predetermined value of probability of interference interception. Signals of the inserted guard bands having a signal level greater than a predetermined threshold are selected. A set of spatial-filtering weightings are calculated according to a correlation matrix of noise plus jammers alone on the signals selected. Baseband signals of the received frequency-hopping signals are filtered by the set of the calculated spatial-filtering weightings.

Abstract: A wireless receiver detects signals received at two or more antennas, with each antenna coupled to an input receive chain. A switch is employed to couple selected input receive chains to one or more corresponding output receive chains during listening, coarse-detection, and fine-adjustment modes. At least one channel selection filter (CSF) is employed in each output receive chain, and the receiver employs sub-ranging. During idle mode, one antenna's input receive chain is connected to two or more CSFs to detect the packet. When the packet is detected, during a coarse-adjustment mode, the CSFs are reconfigured to couple each antenna's input receive chain to a corresponding output receive chain using low-gain signals. During fine-adjustment mode, the various gains are adjusted to be either high- or low-gain to maintain signals within the dynamic range of the corresponding CSFs.
