  • Patent number: 10721179
Abstract: Various embodiments for adaptively computing and implementing changes in resource allocations using historical data in a distributed computing environment. Historical data on resource consumption levels of an application is maintained. Either of an increase operation or reduction operation is triggered for a resource required by an application instance of the application, where a predicted consumption level for the resource required by the application instance is computed. The increase or reduction operation is computed and implemented for the resource required by the application instance to accommodate the predicted consumption level, thereby optimizing application efficiency and resource utilization in the distributed computing environment.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to routing data through a distributed communications network (DCN) including several communication devices. Each communication device may include or be in communication with a computing device which causes the communication device to perform actions including: calculate a utility score for a subset of the plurality of communication devices, the utility score quantifying transmissibility of a data packet from the transceiver assembly to another communication device. The utility score may be calculated based on: a distance between the transceiver assembly and the communication device, a transmission queue at the transceiver assembly, a remaining life of the power source, a power consumption to transmit the data packet to the communication device, and a data throughput of the communication device. The computing device may generate instructions to transmit the data packet to at least one communication device in the subset, based on the calculated utility score.

  • Patent number: 10721771
Abstract: An access node (100-A) of a wireless communication network receives an indication from a further access node (100-B) of the wireless communication network. The indication indicates a timing of a radio transmission (20A, 20B) performed by the further access node (100-B) on a set of radio resources. Based on the indication, the access node (100-A) determines a time which is not overlapped by the radio transmission (20A, 20B) performed by the further access node (100-B). Further, the access node (100-A) initiates a listen-before-talk procedure at the determined time. The listen-before-talk procedure comprises detecting whether there is an ongoing radio transmission on the set of radio resources and, in response to detecting that there is no ongoing radio transmission on the set of radio resources, performing a further radio (20A) transmission on the set of radio resources.

  • Patent number: 10721172
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method includes, in response to detecting available memory of a destination node of a packet flow of nodes to the destination node being below a particular threshold, marking the destination node as being in a backpressure state. The destination node, in the backpressure state, sends a signal indicating a condition of packet backpressure to the nodes of the packet flow, and initiates a timer for a particular time period. The method further marks, at the end of the particular time period, the destination node as being in a bad actor state if the available memory is below the particular threshold, and as being in a good actor state if the memory is above the particular threshold. The method, in response to marking the destination node as being in a bad actor state, sends a signal to the nodes causing the nodes to drop packets directed to the destination node.

Abstract: In various implementations, provided are systems and methods for an integrated circuit implementing a processor that can include a rate limiting circuit that attempts to fairly distribute processor memory bandwidth between transaction generators in the processor. The rate limiting circuit can maintain a count of tokens for each transaction generator, where a transaction generator can only transmit a transaction when the transaction generator has enough tokens to do so. Each transaction generator can send a request to the rate limiting circuit when the transaction generator wants to transmit a transaction. The rate limiting circuit can then check whether the transaction generator has sufficient tokens to transmit the transaction. When the transaction generator has enough tokens, the rate limiting circuit will allow the transaction to enter the interconnect. When the transaction generator does not have enough tokens, the rate limiting circuit will not allow the transaction to enter the interconnect.

Abstract: An opportunistic throttling approach can be used for customers of shared resources in a multi-tenant environment. Each customer can have a respective token bucket with a guaranteed fill rate. When a request is received for an amount of work to be performed by a resource, the corresponding number of tokens are obtained from, or charged against, a global token bucket. If the global bucket has enough tokens, and if the customer has not exceeded a maximum work rate or other such metric, the customer can charge less than the full number of tokens against the customer's token bucket, in order to reduce the number of tokens that need to be taken from the customer bucket. Such an approach can enable the customer to do more work and enable the customer's bucket to fill more quickly as fewer tokens are charged against the customer bucket for the same amount of work.

Abstract: Methods and terminal devices for making media calls via a network are provided. In some embodiments, a first terminal device includes interface circuitry and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry detects, in response to a success reception of a first data packet of first media that is send by a second terminal device during the media call, whether a packet loss occurs in the first media. When a packet loss is detected, the processing circuitry obtains network status information of the network. Further, the processing circuitry determines a probability threshold in association with a retransmission request to the second terminal device for retransmitting a second data packet. Based on the probability threshold, the processing circuitry determines a network requirement condition for the retransmission request. When the network status information satisfies the network requirement condition, the interface circuitry sends the retransmission request; otherwise the retransmission request is cancelled.
