  • Patent number: 9526069
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for managing a radio connection between a mobile device and a base station of a radio access network. A determination is made that the mobile device is in a standby state. The radio connection transitions to a high power state while the mobile device is in the standby state. A net number of transport layer connections for the mobile device are identified. The transport layer connections are Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) or User Datagram Protocol (UDP) sockets. A net count of transport layer connections opened and closed while the radio connection is in the high power state is calculated. Dormancy of the radio connection is initiated when the mobile device is in the standby state, based at least in part on the calculated net count of transport layer connections.

  • Patent number: 9519328
Abstract: Methods for performing power management of InfiniBand (IB) switches and apparatus and software configured to implement the methods. Power management datagrams (MADs) are used to inform IB switches that host servers connected to the IB switch's ports are to transition to a reduced-power or offline state or have returned to a normal operating state. A subnet management agent (SMA) on the IB switch receives the power MADs from the host servers and tracks each server's operating state. In response to power down MADs, the SMA coordinates power reduction of the switch's ports and other switch circuitry. For switches with multi-port IB interfaces, a multi-port interface is caused to enter a reduced-power state when all of its ports are connected to host servers that are idle or offline. Additionally, when all of a switch's ports are connected to idle or offline servers the SMA may put the switch's core switch logic into a reduced-power state.

Abstract: In a method for managing video conference bandwidth, original video images with a predetermined quantity are acquired from a video sent from a client device. The video sent from the client device is compressed according to a default video compression parameter. The compressed video images corresponding to the original video images are acquired. A current network bandwidth is detected and compared with the data bandwidth of the compressed video. A video quality assessed value of the compressed video is calculated in event the current network bandwidth is larger than the data bandwidth of the compressed video. The default video compression parameter will be regulated and the video will be recompressed until the video quality assessed value of the compressed video is within the scope of predetermined quality requirement while the video quality assessed value of the compressed video is beyond the scope of a predetermined quality requirement.

  • Patent number: 9357386
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for enabling identity verification of messages originating from a radio station, such as a Femto cell, to a gateway, such as a Femto gateway. In an embodiment, a radio station establishes a first connection for authentication with a security gateway, sends authentication information on the first connection, and receives in return an Internet Protocol (IP) address assigned to the radio station. The security gateway updates a Domain Name System (DNS) to map between the IP address and a DNS name for the radio station. The radio station also establishes a second connection for control messages with a second gateway, and sends the IP address and an identity of the radio station on the second connection. The mapping between the IP address and the DNS name enables the second gateway to identify messages on the second connection between the radio station and the second gateway.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a request at a media server from a computing device for a portion of a particular rendition of content that is available for adaptive streaming. The request received while the media server has access to a single rendition of the content. When the portion is part of the single rendition, the media server sends the portion retrieved from the single rendition to the computing device in response to the request. When the portion is not part of the single rendition, the media server generates the portion by transcoding a corresponding portion of the single rendition of the content, stores the generated portion in a cache of the media server, and sends the generated portion to the computing device in response to the request. The method further includes removing portions of one or more outdated renditions from the cache while maintaining the generated portion in the cache.

Abstract: A system and method for latency assignment in a system having shared resources for performing jobs including computing a new resource price at each resource and sending the new resource price to a task controller in a task path that has at least one job running in the task path. A path price is computed for each task path of the task controller, if there is a critical time specified for the task. New deadlines are determined for the resources in a task path based on the resource price and the path price. The new deadlines are sent to the resources where the at least one job is running to improve system performance.

Abstract: Examples of methods, systems, and computer program products relating to supervising data in a wireless network are disclosed. At least part of a system may be located between a packet data network and a base station, and/or may be at least logically separate from the base station. The system may be capable of evaluating the service provided by the base station, and may be capable of determining whether or not any action should consequently be performed. Examples of an action may include an action which may not necessarily affect en-route data packets such as outputting a report, and/or an action which may affect en-route data packets such as delaying packets, not delaying packets, and/or stopping the delaying of packets. An action which affects data packets may or may not affect data packets uniformly. An action may or may not result in an improvement in quality of user experience.

The flood detect nodes (10) determine according to the comparison if the received message is suspected to be a flooding message and if so, performs code generation including hashing. The flood detect nodes (10) save the code to one of a set of database buckets (21), each bucket being associated with a code, and select a bucket according to the generated code, and increment a fill parameter of the selected bucket.
