  • Patent number: 10110448
Abstract: A method of establishing a service operations administration and maintenance (OAM) session between an originator and a reflector in a communication network includes continuously monitoring, by the reflector, any test packets transmitted by the originator. The originator transmits to the reflector, at a time indicated by a first timestamp, a test packet. The reflector receives the test packet at a time indicated by a second timestamp and generates a unique flow identifier that identifies the reflector. The reflector transmits the test packet to the originator. The reflector assigns a sequence number to the test packet. The originator receives the test packet at a time indicated by a fourth timestamp. The reflector stores the unique flow identifier at least for the duration of the OAM session.

  • Patent number: 9477736
Abstract: There is provided an apparatus and method for active and passive data gathering using a stochastic model in a control network. An active and passive synchronizer performs a first gathering operation in which a data request frame is transmitted via the control network and data on the local devices is gathered and a second gathering operation in which data on the local devices is gathered by reading a communication frame among the local devices, and determines a first gathering operation schedule for each data stored in a cache unit based on an expected delay time estimated using a stochastic model for the second gathering operation process when the first gathering operation is not performed on each data that is gathered through the first gathering operation and the second gathering operation and is stored in the cache unit and waiting is performed until the data is updated through the second gathering operation.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for establishing deterministic communication routes in a large computer network, wherein all affected end systems and switches of the computer network have a global time and a deterministic communication route is generated on the basis of an existing communication route between two or more end systems of the computer network in that a time-triggered connection manager (TTCM) of an end system reserves the deterministic communication route in a reservation phase by sending a reservation message to each network switch of the existing communication route up to the reservation commitment time (KZPT), and then confirms this deterministic communication route in an accept phase by sending an accept message to the network switches of the existing communication route before the KZPT.

In one embodiment, a method of thermally testing an active optical cable assembly includes providing electrical signals to an optical transmission module within a first connector that converts the electrical signals into optical signals for transmission over one or more optical fibers of the active optical cable assembly, and applying heat to the first connector as the electrical signals are provided to the optical transmission module. The method further includes detecting electrical signals at a second connector of the active optical cable assembly. The detected electrical signals are converted from the optical signals by an optical receiver module within the second connector. • Patent number: 9414429
Abstract: Techniques for maintaining an always-on data session for an access terminal are described. Messages to keep alive the data session may be sent using non-traffic channels to avoid bringing up traffic channels just to send these messages. In one design, an access network may send a first message (e.g., a RouteUpdateRequest message) on a first non-traffic channel (e.g., a control channel) to the access terminal. The access terminal may return a second message (e.g., a RouteUpdate message) on a second non-traffic channel (e.g., an access channel) to the access network. The access network may then send a third message (e.g., for an Echo-Request) on the first non-traffic channel over a smaller area covering an approximate location of the access terminal, which may be determined based on the second message. The access terminal may return a fourth message (e.g., for an Echo-Reply) on the second non-traffic channel to the access network.
