Abstract: Described herein are technologies that facilitate transfer of data-intensive content between portable telephones. Phones are configured to transmit data indicative of phone location to a proxy server by way of respective cellular network data connections. When a user of a phone wishes to acquire content that is labeled as shareable on another phone, the user of the phone initiates a location-based request, which causes the proxy server to provide a list of phones that are estimated to be in Wi-Fi range of such phone. The user thereafter selects a particular phone, and the proxy server instructs that phone to activate its Wi-Fi radio. Abstract: A method and system are provided to install a loop free alternative (LFA) next hop as a backup for a primary path next hop for an interior gateway protocol (IGP). The method enables testing of the LFA next hop to ensure proper handling of data forwarding on the LFA. The method includes receiving a trigger message from an administrative module indicating a switch to the LFA next hop the message including a prefix and an interface. A check is made whether a set of primary path next hops of the prefix have been exhausted. A next primary path next hop is selected from the set of primary path next hops of the prefix. A check is made whether the next primary path next hop matches the interface. The next primary path next hop is replaced by installing the LFA next hop into a global routing information base.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to managing a logical topology change in a network. The entries of the forwarding database are flushed intelligently without arbitrarily removing the forwarding database resulting in flooding. In one embodiment, a logical topology number (LTN) is maintained by all the interfaces and the forwarding database in the logical topology. In case of any change in the network topology, the LTN of the interfaces affected by the topology change is changed. Further, while sending a frame, LTN of the forwarding database entry for a destination address is compared with LTN of the logical topology. In case of mismatch, the entry is invalidated and the frame is flooded to all other ports for entering new entries into the database. LTN of the forwarding database entry for a source address is compared with the LTN of the logical topology.

Abstract: System, method, and apparatus for improving the performance of collective operations in High Performance Computing (HPC). Compute nodes in a networked HPC environment form collective groups to perform collective operations. A spanning tree is formed including the compute nodes and switches and links used to interconnect the compute nodes, wherein the spanning tree is configured such that there is only a single route between any pair of nodes in the tree. The compute nodes implement processes for performing the collective operations, which includes exchanging messages between processes executing on other compute nodes, wherein the messages contain indicia identifying collective operations they belong to. Each switch is configured to implement message forwarding operations for its portion of the spanning tree. Each of the nodes in the spanning tree implements a ratcheted cyclical state machine that is used for synchronizing collective operations, along with status messages that are exchanged between nodes.
