Abstract: A network switch may include ports at which network packets are received from a network. The switch may maintain a packet forwarding database having forwarding database entries that are each associated with a corresponding port. The switch may perform flushing operations to delete forwarding database entries that are associated with a selected port or a selected group of ports. The flushing operations may be performed by modifying an aging table that is maintained by the switch. Abstract: An algorithm for the promotion of terminal nodes to switch nodes in a PLC network reduces overall network overhead and collisions, while ensuring the appropriate selection of a switch node and minimizing the number of levels in a PLC network. It also ensures that the terminal nodes with appropriate signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) are promoted. It is desirable to have a network with fewer levels. The disclosed approach favors the nodes that are closer to the DC to promote them as switch nodes. This is achieved by waiting for a smaller number of PNPDUs for a node that is closer to the DC in comparison to a node that is farther away from the DC.

Abstract: The present invention is applicable to a gateway device, which is configured with an icon list storing a plurality of icons each corresponding to a specific network device type and is able to search for all active or passive network devices currently connected thereto, read basic data of each network device thus found, read the icon corresponding to each network device from the icon list, and then convert the icons thus read and the basic data of each network device found into a web page message for creating a network device map web page. Thus, when the gateway device sends the web page message to the active network device, a user of the active network device can see each icon on the network device map web page by using a browser and instantly know the network devices currently connected to the gateway device and their basic data.

Abstract: Exemplary traffic engineering solutions are described herein. According to exemplary embodiments, multiple tiered thresholds representing allocatable capacities of links in the network may be provided. The tiered thresholds may effectively limit the amount of data that a traffic engineering system is permitted to allocate on links in the network. The traffic engineering system may attempt to allocate data flows in the network according to the smallest threshold. If the network cannot accommodate the data flows according to the smallest threshold, then the next-smallest threshold may be attempted. The thresholds may be sequentially tested in increasing order until the largest threshold is attempted. If a workable threshold is found, then the data flow may be allocated to a path in the network. If the traffic engineering system is unable to accommodate the data flows at any of the tiered thresholds, then the traffic engineering system may report a failure.

  • Patent number: RE46001
Abstract: In a centralized radio network consisting of several devices one device acts as master or network coordinator and has a transmission range. Basically, other devices of the network are able to adopt the role of a coordinator. This ability is used to enlarge the area of the network to a size larger than the transmission range of the master. A device asks its parent PNC to become a child PNC when a newly turned on device acts as a temporary PNC and broadcasts an initiation beacon indicating that it looks for a child PNC. The child PNC reports that it is available. The new device determines one of the available child PNCs to be its new master. The acknowledgment for the selected child PNC may be broadcasted to inform all the devices in the transmission range of the new device. The new device quits the role of the temporary PNC and associates to the existing network.
