Abstract: In a machine to machine (M2M) communication network comprising M2M application servers and M2M nodes such as M2M devices and gateways, applications that are specific to different M2M Service Providers (SPs) may be hosted. Different services are provided by different M2M Service Providers, while being hosted on a single Home Gateway, by the use of sensing and actuation equipment for different services. The home gateway may typically be owned by a home owner while some equipment may be services-specific and not owned by the home owner. Interfaces are provided enabling individual services providers to independently control resources allocated to their services hosted on the M2M node.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate communicating PSC split information regarding neighboring cells. The PSC split information can be transmitted in one or more overhead messages selected based on network deployment. Where macro cells and femto cells provide PSC split information, which can be a PSC range for related cells, PSC list, etc., the information can be transmitted in a low priority overhead message since it can be obtained at a source cell. Where only femto cells or closed subscriber group (CSG) cells provide PSC split information, the information can be transmitted in a higher priority more frequently transmitted message. In this regard, the information is available at target cells since not all devices can access CSG cells. Thus, by providing the PSC split information in a more frequently transmitted message, devices can retrieve the PSC split information early on in communications to lower power consumption.

For example, a policy and charging rules function can be leveraged to avoid repeated transfers of a same section of over-the-top video. A method can include detecting, for a link, a link traffic condition above a predetermined threshold. The method can also include estimating link speed to obtain an initial link speed value. When the detected link traffic condition is above a predetermined threshold, the method can further include limiting fluctuation of the link speed to within a threshold amount of the initial link speed value. Abstract: An improved technique for detecting the presence or absence of one or more predetermined signals in a shared spectrum. In accordance with the disclosed embodiments, a received RF signal may be down-converted to a baseband signal, which is subsequently processed by a spectrum sensor to detect the presence or absence of a predetermined signal, such as a predetermined radar signal. The spectrum sensor multiplies the frequency components of the baseband signal with the frequency response of a matched filter having a set of coefficients corresponding to the predetermined signal. Abstract: Resource mapping and coding schemes to handle bursty interference are disclosed that provide for spreading the modulated symbols for one or more transmission code words over more symbols in the time-frequency transmission stream. Certain aspects allow for the modulated symbols to be based on bits from more than one code word. Other aspects also provide for re-mapping code word transmission sequences for re-transmissions based on the number of re-transmissions requested by the receiver. Additional aspects provide for layered coding that uses a lower fixed-size constellation to encode/decode transmissions in a layered manner in order to achieve a larger-size constellation encoding. The layered encoding process allows the transmitter and receiver to use different coding rates for each coding layer. The layered encoding process also allows interference from neighboring cells to be canceled without knowledge of the actual constellation used to code the interfering neighboring signal.

The voice information is transmitted in one direction of a subject vehicle via a transmission unit, and voice information from another vehicle is received via a reception unit. The vehicle-to-vehicle communication device plays the voice message of the voice information received by the reception unit based on the added information of the voice information. In such manner, information regarding a travel situation is appropriately transmitted by the vehicle-to-vehicle communication device.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting a burst signal. The apparatus includes circuitry that concatenates a predetermined number of samples and transmits the samples to a first programmable memory tap of a predetermined number of programmable memory taps. For each memory tap, a corresponding partial correlation is computed. A normalized sum of all the partial correlations is multiplexed and transmitted to a predetermined number of multipliers. A peak of the burst signal is determined by computing a summation of the complex multiplications of each multiplier, wherein the determined peak corresponds to a start of the burst signal.

Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for user equipment (UE) selection in a mobile communication system. The method may include: selecting the n?1th UE in multiple cells (n: constant ?2); and selecting a UE with the maximum weighted sum rate (WSR) as the nth UE from among UEs belonging to the remaining cells excluding those cells containing the 1st to n?1th UEs. Hence, the scheduling function enabling suitable user equipment selection may further increase overall system throughput by providing additional gains in addition to beamforming, i.e. further reducing inter-cell interference and increasing signal strength toward a desired user equipment.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for simultaneously receiving on two carriers and performing discontinuous transmission (DTX) and discontinuous reception (DRX) in dual cell high speed downlink packet access (DC-HSDPA) are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receives a message for activating DRX for at least one of an anchor carrier and a supplementary carrier and applies the same DRX pattern to the anchor carrier and the supplementary carrier upon reception of the message. The message may be received via a high speed shared control channel (HS-SCCH) order. The WTRU may activate or de-activate the supplementary carrier based on the physical layer signal. Upon activation of the supplementary carrier, the WTRU may apply the same DRX pattern on both the anchor carrier and the supplementary carrier. The WTRU may flush a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) buffer associated with the supplementary carrier upon de-activation of the supplementary carrier.

  • Patent number: 9596053
Abstract: According to the present disclosure, a base station may be configured to serve a user equipment device (UE) over two or more beams using different modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) in response to determining that another base station is concurrently serving another UE at nearly the same location. For instance, a first base station may initially serve a first UE over two beams using the same MCS on both beams. The first base station may then determine that a second base station is serving a second UE at nearly the same location. And in response, the first base station may then change the MCS on at least one of the two beams so that the first base station then serves the first UE using different MCSs on the two beams. Serving the first UE with different MCSs concurrently on multiple beams may help to improve the first UE's reception.

Abstract: A method includes estimating the position of the moving object on the basis of the reception of navigation signals emitted by a constellation of satellites, the navigation signals being modulated by a code and the receiver comprising a local replica of the code. The determination of the confidence indicator consists in estimating a speed of displacement of the receiver over an identified trajectory segment, deducing therefrom a Doppler delay function corresponding to the motion of the receiver, in correcting the auto-correlation function of the GNSS navigation signal received from each satellite of the constellation by means of the delay function, in comparing the corrected auto-correlation function with a theoretical auto-correlation function by applying a quadratic criterion corresponding to the confidence indicator.

Abstract: A mobile station receives a neighbor list from a base station in an area of a public wireless network that borders a private wireless network. The neighbor list includes encrypted channel identifiers corresponding to private network channels transmitted by the private wireless network and unencrypted channel identifiers corresponding to public network channels transmitted by the public wireless network. If the mobile station does not subscribe to the private wireless network, the mobile station does not recognize the encrypted channel identifiers and simply ignores them. However, if the mobile station subscribes to the private wireless network, the mobile station decrypts the encrypted channel identifiers and determines whether it is able to initiate a handoff to any of the corresponding private network channels.
