Abstract: A monitoring system that receives messages that are exchanged with the application server. Relationships between users are posited in response to the times at which the messages are received. A relationship between two users may be posited in response to receiving, at approximately the same time, two messages from the application server that are destined, respectively, for the two users. The near-simultaneous receipt of the two messages indicates that the two messages were sent from the server at approximately the same time, which, in turn, indicates that the two messages may correlate with one another. Further indication of a correlation between the messages, which may increase the level of confidence with which the relationship between the two users is posited, may be found by examining the respective sizes of the messages, which indicate the message types.

Abstract: Systems and methods for a VRF-aware socket are provided. According to one embodiment, a user-space application of a network device, maintaining a virtual routing table for each of multiple VRF domains, creates a VRF-aware listening socket. The socket includes information regarding: (i) which of the virtual routing tables is to be used to look up routing or forwarding information for outgoing traffic; (ii) the VRF domain(s) from which the socket is able to receive incoming traffic; and/or (iii) the last VRF domain from which the socket read data. The socket is configured to be a super-VRF listening socket capable of receiving incoming traffic from all VRF domains by setting its VRF domain(s) to a wildcard value. The super-VRF listening socket then receives from a client device associated with a first VRF domain of the multiple VRF domains a request on behalf of the user-space application.

Abstract: Techniques are described for vetting unwanted calls. At an inbound customer call handling apparatus, a SIP INVITE is received from a destination carrier servicing the inbound customer intended for a destination user agent (UA) device of the inbound customer. The SIP INVITE includes a current origination identifier (ORIG ID) comprised of a fixed length character string. The call handling apparatus accesses a database of stored ORIG ID character strings, each stored ORIG ID character string in the database having been included with a previous SIP INVITE that has been previously associated with an unwanted inbound call. The call handling apparatus analyzes the current ORIG ID character string to determine if it matches any stored ORIG ID character strings in the database. When there is a match to a stored ORIG ID character string, the SIP INVITE is not forwarded to the destination UA device. Otherwise, it is forwarded to the destination UA device.

A domain name system (DNS) query is generated in response to detecting the at least one of a change in state of network connection and change in operational state of a user migration computing device. Further, the DNS query is sent to at least one of a plurality of DNS servers. If an expected DNS response is received, it is determined that the user migration computing device is in the enterprise network. If expected DNS response is not received, that the user migration computing device is outside the enterprise network.

Abstract: Techniques for modifying data packet transmission characteristics by an intermediate node in a network are disclosed. An intermediate node in a data transmission network determines a current estimated transmission time for packets being transmitted from the source node to the intermediate node. The node analyzes a data packet to determine a Quality of Service (QoS) requirement for transmission of the first data packet. Based on the current estimated transmission time for packets being transmitted from the source node to the intermediate node and the QoS requirement for transmission of the first data packet, the intermediate node selects one or more transmission characteristics for forwarding the first data packet toward the destination node. The intermediate node transmits the packet toward the destination node in accordance with the one or more transmission characteristics.

The method includes receiving, by the gateway, a call initiated by the terminal device; negotiating, by the gateway, with the terminal device, to establish a first call between the gateway and the terminal device and determine a media type of the first call; and adding the negotiated media type of the first call to a call established between the gateway and the MCU, where the media type of the first call is different from that of the established call. In this way, the negotiated media type of the call is added to the call established between the gateway and the MCU.

Abstract: A packet transmission method includes: receiving packets on a plurality of subflow connections of a multipath transmission control protocol (MPTCP) connection, and determining, based on the received packets, that packets at an MPTCP layer are out of order; determining that a blocking packet causing out-of-order is not received within a tolerance time, where the tolerance time is less than a largest RTO in RTOs of the plurality of subflow connections; and sending, by the network component, a retransmission instruction packet of the blocking packet on a target subflow connection in the plurality of subflow connections, where the retransmission instruction packet is used to instruct a sending device of the blocking packet to retransmit the blocking packet. Thus, there is no need to trigger retransmission after a subflow RTO expires, thereby shortening a delay.

Abstract: Devices residing in different networks communicate with one another using inter-network communication. A host may transmit a first packet to a gateway and the gateway may transform it into a second packet. When creating the second packet, the gateway may transmit a request to an address mapper for a mapped address. The mapped address includes a native address or a system address. The system address includes another native address as well as a reference value. The reference value is associated with the host, includes an opaque binary value of an arbitrary size, and is subdivided into multiple fields associated with the host. In response to the mapped address being the system address, the address mapping engine obtains the system address. In response to the mapped address being the native address, the address mapping engine obtains the native address. The native address is determined in view of an existing network protocol.

A link of that router may exhibit an increased bit error rate which can be used by the label switching router to artificially deflate available bandwidth, thereby reducing the number of label switching paths including the router are selected by the headend.

  • Patent number: 11265304
Abstract: Various embodiments concern mechanisms for facilitating communication between network-accessible platforms for developing, hosting, or running hybrid applications that utilize resources hosted across multiple platforms. Hybrid applications cause messages or “calls” to be passed between the platforms that must be authenticated. For example, when a call is placed by a Heroku platform to a Force.com platform, the call must be authenticated for security purposes. If Heroku has not already been authenticated when the call is submitted, an authentication process is invoked. An event listener can be used to register details regarding the initial callout task, and then register or “fire” an event when the authentication process is successfully completed. Registration of the initial callout task completely separates the authentication process from the resource being invoked. Requests can be completed without requiring further user input using at least some of the details registered by the event listener.

Abstract: A method and system for improving the security and control of internet/network web application processes, such as web applications. The invention enables validation of requests from web clients before the request reaches a web application server. Incoming web client requests are compared to an application model that may include an allowed navigation path within an underlying web application. Requests inconsistent with the application model are blocked before reaching the application server. The invention may also verify that application state data sent to application servers has not been inappropriately modified. Furthermore, the invention enables application models to be automatically generated by employing, for example, a web crawler to probe target applications. Once a preliminary application model is generated it can be operated in a training mode. An administrator may tune the application model by adding a request that was incorrectly marked as non-compliant to the application model.
