Employing Logical Addressing For Routing (e.g., Vp Or Vc) Patents (Class 370/399)
  • Patent number: 8332513
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and device for detecting connectivity termination in an IPv6 access network based on a DHCP service model. The method for detecting connectivity termination according to the invention comprises the steps of: creating an entry of the subscriber connectivity cache list corresponding to the subscriber terminal in the access node when the IPv6 connectivity between the subscriber terminal and the access node is established successfully; querying the entry of the neighbor cache list corresponding to the subscriber terminal based on the polling time set in the entry of the subscriber connectivity cache list; deciding whether the connectivity of the subscriber terminal is normal based on the entry information corresponding to the subscriber terminal of the subscriber connectivity cache list and neighbor cache list; and performing termination processing on the connectivity of the subscriber terminal logging off abnormally.

  • Patent number: 8296459
Abstract: With the advent of virtualization technologies, networks and routing for those networks can now be simulated using commodity hardware rather than actual routers. For example, virtualization technologies such as those provided by VMWare, XEN, or User-Mode Linux can be adapted to allow a single physical computing machine to be shared among multiple virtual networks by providing each virtual network user with one or more virtual machines hosted by the single physical computing machine, with each such virtual machine being a software simulation acting as a distinct logical computing system that provides users with the illusion that they are the sole operators and administrators of a given hardware computing resource. In addition, routing can be accomplished through software, providing additional routing flexibility to the virtual network in comparison with traditional routing. As a result, in some implementations, supplemental information other than packet information can be used to determine network routing.

  • Patent number: 8218569
Abstract: System and method for providing a termination point for service emulation instances in an access network is provided. In an embodiment, the service emulation instances are implemented utilizing, for example, pseudowires. Communications to and from the access network are aggregated and transmitted via one or more pseudowires to a service emulation instance terminator. The service emulation instance terminator converts the traffic to its native form and, if necessary, converts the traffic to a different type of format or service. The service emulation instance terminator then frames the traffic for the appropriate type of service and transmits the traffic to the service edge. Traffic received from the service is removed prepended with a pseudowire label and aggregated with other traffic. The aggregated traffic is transmitted to the customer via the access network. If necessary, an interworking function may convert the traffic from one type of service to another type of service.

Abstract: A method for formatting a signal in a mobile communication system by appending a plurality of medium access control headers to a plurality of medium access control-service data units for data transfer between a mobile station and network in the mobile communication system. If the service data units have the same characteristics, a medium access control-protocol data unit is formed by successively coupling the service data units to any one of the medium access control headers. If the service data units have different characteristics, the protocol data unit is formed by sequentially coupling each of the service data units and each of the medium access control headers. The formed protocol data unit is then transformed into a transport block with a predetermined size.

Abstract: An Ethernet Metropolitan Area Network provides connectivity to one or more customer premises to packet-based services, such as ATM, Frame Relay, or IP, while advantageously providing a mechanism for assuring security and regulation of customer traffic. Upon receipt of each customer-generated information frame, an ingress Multi-Service Platform (MSP) “tags” the frame with a customer descriptor that specifically identifies the recipient customer. In practice, the MSP tags each frame by overwriting the Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) identifier with the customer descriptor. Using the customer descriptor in each frame, a recipient Provider Edge Router (PER) or ATM switch can map the information as appropriate to direct the information to the specific customer at its receiving site. In addition, the customer descriptor may also include Quality of Service (QoS) information, allowing the recipient Provider Edge Router (PER) or ATM switch to afford the appropriate QoS level accordingly.

  • Patent number: 7869451
Abstract: The invention relates to a method in particular enabling the computer terminal (T_L) of a local network (RES_L), connected to a gateway (PASS_D) of a remote network (RES_D) by an IPsec tunnel in blocking mode, to launch a print job on a printer (E_L) belonging to the local network. To do this, the gateway (PASS_D) stores the correspondence between the public address (AD_1) of the local router (ROUT_L) providing the connection of the terminal to the Internet, and the private address (ad_3) assigned to the terminal (T_L) in the addressing plan of the remote network (RES_D) during the establishment of the tunnel, and sends the print flow to the local router (ROUT_L), which directs it to the local printer (E_L) by a port translation technique.

Abstract: An asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) connection band control system, in an ATM network, may include a first memory, a second, different memory, and a connection-setting control portion. The first memory may store, in a buffer control memory, band acquiring data of a connection, the first memory preliminarily acquiring a connection band for the connection, irrespective of the connection being a switched virtual connection (SVC) or a permanent virtual connection (PVC). The second, different memory may store acquired band data of a currently established connection, irrespective of the currently established connection being a PVC or an SVC. The connection-setting control portion may control a setting of the currently established connection, where a band for the currently established connection, irrespective of the currently established connection being a PVC or an SVC, is preliminarily set as the band acquiring data.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of supporting a multi-port virtual local area network (VLAN) with a multi-protocol Label switch (MPLS), comprising steps of: establishing a label switching path (LSP) by the label distribution protocol (LDP), and obtaining information binding a forwarding equivalence class (FEC) and a label or information binding an ingress label and an egress label, and an address of a LDP peer entity at an opposite end, which is a next-hop IP address; the MPLS table item managing module creating a forwarding-relation table, and adding a forwarding-relation table item based upon the obtained information; obtaining an egress port corresponding to the forwarding-relation table item based upon the next-hop IP address; and accomplishing the MPLS via the egress port. With the present invention, it is possible to support the multi-port VLAN in a three-layer switch with the function of the MPLS and implement the MPLS in the VLAN.

  • Patent number: 7822001
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for forwarding and/or addressing a packet in a wireless network, wherein an address information of a protocol layer lower than a network layer is added to the packet, which address information indicates the geographical location of a destination node and which can be changed during forwarding of the packet through said wireless network. The packet is then forwarded within the wireless network based on a difference between the geographical location of a present node and the destination node. This location based addressing makes packet forwarding easier in dynamic mesh networks, because each node (10) can decide into which direction to forward incoming packets based only on the information in the packet header and its own location.
