Bridge Or Gateway Between Networks Patents (Class 370/401)
  • Publication number: 20090257439
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method and device for advertising routing information and a method and system for implementing packet routing. The method for advertising routing information includes a routing information advertising device that obtains its address information; the routing information advertising device adds the address information to routing information to advertise; and the routing information advertising device advertises the routing information that carries the address information. With the technical solution of the present disclosure, the number of routing tables in a backbone network may be greatly reduced. This minimizes the rise of router costs and effectively avoids slower route convergence. In addition, a router in the backbone network can dynamically obtain address information of a core router that advertises an aggregate prefix, such that it may be easier to implement registration, update and query the mapping between a more detailed address prefix and a border router.

Abstract: A communication control system capable of reducing the traffic amount, CPU's processing load and channel bands related to a location registering process. In this system, a paging part (303) of a base station apparatus (300) receives a call request message transmitted from an access gateway apparatus (200) and addressed to a wireless terminal apparatus, and generates a call response message indicative of accommodating the wireless terminal apparatus. An MIP location registering part (304) registers an IP address established at the transmitting source of the call request message, and generates a location registration request message that requests a registration of an IP address established at the local base station. A packet combining part (305) generates and transmits a combined packet, which is obtained by combining the call request message with the location registration request message, to the access gateway apparatus (200).

  • Patent number: 7602795
Abstract: A gateway receives network presence information regarding a mobile station. The network presence information is based, at least in part, on status messages that a network access server, such as a packet data serving node (PDSN), sends, for example, to an accounting server. The network presence information identifies the mobile station, such as by Internet Protocol (IP) address, network access identifier (NAI), and/or mobile directory number (MDN). When the gateway receives a request from a mobile station to access a content server, e.g., an HTTP GET request, the gateway inserts identifying information, such as NAI and/or MDN, into the request to identify the mobile station to the content server.

Abstract: The present invention is related to synchronizing status information of an IMPS client in a wireless communication system. A server, which manages status information using version information, compares status information of contacts stored in association with version information received from a client to current status information. The server transmits changed status information to the corresponding client. Preferably, the server stores the current status information in association with new version information and informs the client about the new version information. The server stores at least two of the latest version information and respective status information. Accordingly, when a status information response message is lost in its transmission and the server receives a request for the status information from the client, the changed status information can be obtained.

Abstract: Example embodiments allow a local network client to access information about a shared gateway to determine its actual amount of bandwidth consumption. The client can also obtain the total capacity of such shared gateway. Using its knowledge of its own bandwidth consumption, it can determine the other local network clients' usage of the shared gateway. With all of this information, i.e., total capacity of the shared gateway, the actual usage of the shared gateway, and the usage by other clients within the local network, the client can adjust or throttle background file transfers in order to keep the actual data transfers across the shared gateway within a reasonable percentage of the total capacity available. That is, a client will give priority to other local network computing machines' usage of the shared gateway by adjusting data transfers for its own background transfer system based on usage across a shared gateway.

The first transmission repeater monitors auto-negotiation configuration codes among data transmitted from the opposed switch, and when detecting more than a predetermined number of configuration codes of auto-negotiation having been transmitted during a given period of time, determines that the auto-negotiation sequence between the switches is at a deadlock, and reports it to the second transmission repeater, which then disconnects optical signals from the sending end of the second transmission repeater to the switch for more than twice the propagation time of signals between the switches, thus resolving the deadlock between the switches.

Abstract: A system and method for improving network performance when communicating between a first site network and a second site network via an IP-based transport network. The site networks include a LAN, a plurality of host/media gateways (MGWs) connected to the LAN, and pairs of first and second Site Edge Routers (SERs) connected to the LAN for handling traffic from different host/MGWs. The SERs are configured as redundant backup pairs in which each SER in a given pair backs up the other SER in the pair. Each SER is connected to a different Provider Edge (PE) router in the transport network via a dedicated link that has sufficient spare capacity to carry traffic coming from both of the SERs in a given pair of SERs in case one of the SERs fails. The SERs provide preferred routing prefixes to the PE routers, thereby guaranteeing symmetric paths for bidirectional traffic.

Abstract: A method for updating at a bridge node a virtual local area network (VLAN) status of a first node in a mesh network as provided enables improved network connectivity. The method includes processing a first VLAN status message that associates a first VLAN identifier with the first node, wherein the first VLAN status message was generated in response to a first bind request (BREQ) message (step 805). A second VLAN status message is then transmitted, wherein the second VLAN status message associates the first VLAN identifier with the first node (step 810). A third VLAN status message that associates a second VLAN identifier with the first node is then processed, wherein the third VLAN status message was generated in response to a second bind request (BREQ) message that associated the second VLAN identifier with the first node, and whereby the VLAN status of the first node is updated (step 815).

Abstract: A method and a core router for implementing forward delay for bursts are disclosed. The core router configured with an FDL performs proactive delay processing for the burst to be overlapped after predicting that the burst will be overlapped on the link to be protected, thus reducing the probability of burst conflict on the downstream link to be protected. After finding that burst conflict will occur on the output port of the core router at a future moment, the core router sends a burst delay request to the upstream core router, requesting the upstream core router that has an FDL and the delay capability to delay the burst. Therefore, the FDL configured in the network is brought into full play, and the probability of burst conflict is reduced.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for remotely controlled gateway (135) management. The method and apparatus receive a request (120-1, 120-2) for content (164), the request (120-1, 120-2) comprising global addressing information (125-2, 126-2) of a gateway (135) and corresponding to a network appliance 105 on a local network (165) accessible by the gateway (135). The method and apparatus determine gateway configuration information (139, 145, 134) suitable for configuring the gateway (135) to pass one or more content streams 190 comprising portions of the content (164) to the network appliance 105. The method and apparatus communicate the gateway configuration information (139, 145, 134) to the gateway (135).

Abstract: A method to determine the maximum number of VPNs assignable to plurality of routers in a VPN network. The first step in the method can be specifying a tolerance which is a probability that consumed router memory will exceed available router memory for each router in a plurality of routers. The second step can be computing the consumed router memory on each router in a plurality of routers by summing a route memory, an interface memory, a VPN memory, and a constant memory. The third step can be computing a number [V] of VPNs assigned to the router to insure that, with the specified probability tolerance, the consumed router memory will not exceed the available router memory for each router in a plurality of routers.
