Patent number: 9213660Abstract: A data processing apparatus is provided with a master device and a slave device which communicate via communication circuitry. The slave device is associated with a predetermined number of permission tokens that is equal to a maximum number of currently pending messages that can be accepted for processing from the communication circuitry by that slave device. The slave device transmits these permission tokens to the master device. The master device takes exclusive temporary possession of the permission tokens that it receives such that the permission tokens are then no longer available to any other master device. A master device initiates a message to a slave device when the master device has exclusive temporary possession of a permission token for that slave device. When the master device has initiated its message, then it relinquishes the exclusive temporary possession of the permission token such that it is then available for other devices.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2013Date of Patent: December 15, 2015Assignee: ARM LimitedInventors: Sean James Salisbury, Andrew David Tune, Alistair Crone Bruce

Patent number: 8885558Abstract: A method enables a radio receiver to distinguish sensor probes supplying data to the receiver over a long period of time. The method includes each probe generating a random number sent to the receiver to identify the probe. Each probe and the receiver also uses a pseudo-random process to identify a time of transmission for each probe. The pseudo-random process helps keep the transmission times for the probes separate in the presence of oscillator drift. If a transmission collision occurs, the receiver ignores all probes in the collision and waits until the pseudo-random process separates the probe transmissions.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2011Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Scott William Jacobs, Karl William Kleimenhagen, Roger Dwight Watkins, Dexter Grant Travis

For example, the POC values could be from the following: Platform Input Clock to Core Clock Ratio, Enable/disable LT, Configurable Restart, Burn In Initialization Mode, Disable Hyper Threading, System BSP Socket Indication, and Platform Topology Index.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2004Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Mani Ayyar, Srinivas Chennupaty, Akhilesh Kumar, Doddaballapur N. Patent number: 7586976Abstract: An initial ranging detection for an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) wireless communication system entails removing data sub-carriers from samples of an OFDMA signal in order to suppress inter-carrier interference (ICI) between the data sub-carriers and initial ranging sub-carriers, coherently summing the resulting samples to boost signal energy, and applying a sliding window FFT to the coherently summed samples for correlating each result of the sliding window FFT with each one of a set of predetermined codes. The suppression of ICI is done by removing the cyclic prefix, performing an FFT to transform to the frequency domain whereupon the initial ranging sub-carriers are zeroed. An IFFT is then performed to return to the time domain. The cyclic prefix is then added and the new samples are subtracted from the originally received samples. The resulting samples are free of ICI and can then be coherently summed to boost signal energy.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2006Date of Patent: September 8, 2009Assignee: Nortel Networks LimitedInventor: Jason Duggan

Patent number: 7400574Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing a loop network, the loop network (200) including at least one loop (206, 208), a plurality of devices (210) connected to the at least one loop (206, 208) via ports (211, 212), wherein at least two of the devices are initiators (207, 209). The method includes each initiator (207, 209) sending a frame to all other initiators (207, 209) in the loop network (200) identifying any ports (211, 212) which should not be used. Each initiator (207, 209) merges the information from all other initiators (207, 209) with its own information identifying any ports (211, 212) which should not be used resulting in all the initiators (207, 209) generating a single list of ports (211, 212) to be used which is consistent across all the initiators (207, 209). Each initiator (207, 209) applies an algorithm (300) to determine a common set of ports (211, 212) to be used by all the initiators (207, 209) and to balance port accesses across the loop network (200).Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2007Date of Patent: July 15, 2008Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Paul Nicholas Cashman, Carlos Francisco Fuente
