  • Patent number: 7257205
Abstract: A system for (and a method of) selectively establishing communication with one of plural devices associated with a single telephone number during a disaster or disaster recovery period. In a preferred embodiment, the system includes two wireless connection units, each connected between a respective private branch exchange (PBX) network and a public switched telephone network. Each wireless connection unit preferably serves as a gateway between its respective PBX network and one or more remote communication devices. The wireless connection units replicate each others databases. In the event of a disaster that destroys or renders one of the wireless connect/PBX networks inoperable, telephone calls destined for the inoperable network are seamlessly routed to the operable wireless connect/PBX network. Since the operable wireless connection unit contains information for both networks, inbound, outbound and extension to extension calls for each network can be handled despite the disaster.

  • Patent number: 7050549
Abstract: A system for testing and monitoring the operation of telephone systems uses a call trace method for capturing messages associated with a phone call. The system can provide an indication as to the time a particular triggering signaling message (e.g., IAM or RLC message) was detected on a link. The present system assembles SS7 signaling messages in real-time. Time stamps are employed in triggers to identify past messages stored in a buffer that are related to the phone call.

  • Patent number: 7012992
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for automating network testing to determine device interoperability and standards compliance in a network setting are described. The invention provides for maintaining clock error information for multiple network clocks and for adjusting test results obtained from taking measurements at different network locations using time information obtained from different clocks. After correction of detected event, e.g., result, time stamps, the detected events are compared to a list of expected events. The results of the comparison are categorized and processed to form a report. The report includes undetected events as well as detected events which were not expected. To simplify the report, the first undetected expected event in each chain of expected events is listed in the report with related undetected expected events in the same chain of expected events being omitted from the report.

  • Patent number: 6768787
Abstract: An SS7 Network Preventative Maintenance System for detecting potential SS7 and switched network troubles, automatically analyzing the troubles, providing alarm and corrective action to avoid major network events. Real time monitors on SS7 links at the STP provide information on exceeded link load, exceeded Message Signaling Unit (MSU) frequency and network management status/error conditions in a Stage 1 Process. The Stage 1 Process provides alarm information to a Stage 2 Process which controls all Stage 1 associated monitors for an STP pair. Stage 2 reacts to Stage 1 signals to generate alarm and corrective action information which is passed on to a Stage 3 Process. The Stage 3 Process controls all Stage 2 Processes in the operating company. Stage 3 reacts to Stage 2 output to detect potential or real accompanying network trouble and generates alarm and corrective action information and displays in response thereto. Stage 3 also alerts a Stage 4 process which is connected to all Stage 3 Processes in a region.

  • Patent number: 6577710
Abstract: A method for checking a switching center is explained, whereby reference data are checked in the memory of the switching center. On the basis of status data, a processor determines the operational status of programs, which utilize the reference data (step 408). The corresponding reference datum is read for this purpose (steps 410, 416). If the reference datum has a value that is not admissible for the determined operational status, an error treatment is performed (steps 412, 414).

  • Patent number: 6351521
Abstract: The invention is a test system that gives the user a single point of control to generate calls and run tests on a switching system for use in a communications network. The test system is capable of generating calls through a tandem switching system without using a local access switch. The test system is operationally coupled to the switching system by a signaling link and a call connection. The test system receives a first user request to generate a call. The test system transfers signaling to the switching system over the signaling link to cause the switching system to extend the call connection. The test system receives a second user request to run a test, and applies the test to the call connection. In some embodiments, the test system includes a web server that interfaces with a web browser operated by the user. The web server transfers information for screen displays to the web browser. The web server collects user requests from the web browser to generate calls and run tests.

  • Publication number: 20010046278
Abstract: A next generation service node (NGSN) for providing advanced interactive voice response (IVR) services within a telecommunications network. The NGSN includes intelligent peripherals implemented as network audio servers, and application servers which execute customer application files to perform IVR services. The NGSN provides reliability through redundancy of application servers, including automatic application server failover within a node, and automatic node failover between NGSNs. The NGSN features include modular software and hardware architecture with internal function encapsulation. This allows multiple vendors products to be used and provides a common signaling interface to be used to any switch network. Other NGSN features include an open systems architecture with improved scaleability and increased application processing capability.
