Extracting Minutia Such As Ridge Endings And Bifurcations Patents (Class 382/125)
  • Publication number: 20130094724
Abstract: The method of performing fingerprint matching includes a matching algorithm that combines affine moment invariants (AMIs) and translation, rotation and scaling invariants (TRS) based on moments analysis without requiring minutiae detection. Preprocessing normalizes the fingerprint image using the Federal Bureau of Investigation's wavelet scalar quantification (WSQ) compression standard definition. Analysis of the orientation field reliably and accurately determines the reference point. The area within a predetermined range around the detected reference point is used as a region of interest (ROI) for feature extraction. A directional filter bank transform (DFB) obtains directional components of the image. An invariant moment analysis on sub-bands of the filtered images extracts features while limiting the effects of noise and non-linear distortions. Absolute distance is used to match the fingerprints.

Abstract: Systems and methods acquire and/or generate multiple different images of the same biometric identity, identify specific instances of biometric features in each of the different images, and merge the identified specific instances of biometric features into a data record that provides a digital representation of the biometric identity. Examples of biometric identities include fingerprints, handprints, palm prints, and thumbprints. In one embodiment, a counter is associated with each specific instance of a biometric feature found in the multiple images. Specific instances of biometric features found most frequently have high counts and are indicative of true identifications; those with low counts are indicative of false identifications. A threshold distinguishes between true and false identifications. Those specific instances with counts below the threshold are excluded when the digital representation of the biometric identity is generated.

  • Patent number: 8233722
Abstract: An image management method and system provides for storing, indexing, searching, and/or retrieving image data. Keypoints are identified in images, including keypoints in a query image of a query document, and keypoints in potential target document images of a collection of potential target documents. Fingerprint information from the keypoints are generated, and the fingerprint information of a query image is compared with fingerprint information of potential target document images, found in the collection of potential target documents. A best match is determined between the fingerprint information of the query image and the potential target document images. At least one target document image is retrieved based on the determined best match. The retrieved at least one target image may then be displayed, printed or transmitted.

Abstract: In a biometrics system for a building entrance unlocking or a bank account authentication, reference information registered under administration by the system is transmitted to a room or mobile-phone for private storage, with the original reference information deleted from the system. Biologic information gotten upon authentication is transmitted through wireless system to the room or mobile-phone for comparison with the reference, the result being returned to the system. Or, the reference is tentatively sent back to the system for comparison with the gotten biologic information. The biologic information sent to mobile-phone also includes health control information for storage and display. Mobile-phone also can receive blood pressure information at a waiting lounge of medical institution though wireless local communication even if the main power shut down. The communication between the biometrics system and the mobile-phone is encrypted.

Abstract: The present invention provides an image and video indexing scheme for content analysis. According to the invention, a database of images or videos is compressed. By examining patterns in the compression scheme of each image or video, the present invention identifies the content of the data. In one embodiment, an unsupervised learning method is employed where each image or video is sub-divided into smaller blocks (8 pixels×8 pixels, for instance) and each of the smaller blocks is examined for its compression pattern. Then, the patterns associated with each of the smaller blocks is recorded for each of the images in the database and content is retrieved from the database by associating certain patterns or groups of patterns with certain content.
