By immersing the bag in boiling in water with other elements of the meal (e.g. pasta or other starch), multiple dishes may be cooked in the same pot of boiling water. The process includes packaging the frozen sauce in a vacuum-sealed boilable bag to form the packaged sauce. The film used to form the bag is oriented so that the product side layer is not a critical barrier layer. The top most portion of the bag is unsealed forming a tab. Below the top most portion, a peelable upper seal is utilized so that a consumer can destroy the upper seal using the tab and tear open the bag along slits made in the product side layer. This results in an easy open package which when opened can serve as a plate.

The tear initiators are present in a skirt and/or header of the article. The skirt and/or header has a first side and a second side. In one embodiment, some or all of the first side of the skirt and/or header can be heatset in order to reduce the shrink and curling of the skirt and/or header. This improves identification and utilization of the tear initiators by a consumer upon shrinking the packaging article around the product. In another embodiment, the skirt and/or header has a plurality of pairs of tear initiators to allow portions of the package to be torn off to expose a portion of the product that can then be sliced off while the remainder of the packaged product remains covered by a remainder of the film.

Abstract: A flexible, multi-opening, leak-proof packet having a defined volume for storing and dispensing fluids. A first packet area, e.g., at or near an upper edge is configured to include a capped dispensing outlet. A second packet area, e.g., at or near a lower surface, includes at least one inlet for receiving transfers of fluids for storage. The inlet is selectively closed and opened by a zipper mechanism tab, and sized to facilitate rapid transfers from larger containers. Additional openings may be included along with zipper closures. The packet may be individual or attached in multiples for vending purposes, and are especially useful in an airport setting where carry-on baggage inspectors demand disposal of non-compliant containers if contents are not quickly transferred to compliant containers. These packets can be quickly deployed and collectively stored within a larger, compliant carry-on container. This unique packet is useful in a great variety of fields.

Abstract: A first container bag according to the present invention has top and bottom seals that are considered a lockup seal and an internal peel seal that will hold the gas and product in, but will also allow for ease of opening after removal of the top seal. This bag is such as that conventionally formed by use of VFFS technology, and includes the top and bottom end seals. However, the present invention provides additional features including a peel-away or otherwise separable seal, and a perforated segment. By tearing the bag at the perforated segment, the end seal may be bypassed, thus providing access to the internal separable “peel-away” seal. This configuration allows for a bag configuration which allows for the transportation of materials via the bag from a first, loading, location to a second, unloading, location, at which the items within the bag may be removed from the bag without the use of tools, and without tear-off discharge during the bag opening process.

A diverting is means predisposed in such a manner and has a dimension sufficient to cover the reclosable opening to direct airflow away from the reclosable opening when there is an increase in internal air pressure. A weakened sealing is formed at a part of the edge-to-edge sealing wherein the weakened sealing ruptures when the increase in internal air pressure has build up to a critical point. When increased internal air pressure has build up to a critical point, the weakened sealing ruptures to allow air to vent through. The critical point is reached when the internal pressure is greater than external pressure to a sufficient extent to rupture the weakened sealing.

The removable portion may be defined by a first perforation and a second perforation, wherein pulling upon the grip portion results in the tearing along of the perforations so as to open the package.
