Patent number: 11020932Abstract: Tip bonded formed laminates, and methods for making tip bonded formed laminates, are made from multiple layers of formed substrates made from films which are bonded together at the tips of their formed protrusions. Tip bonded laminates can be designed with greater resistance to bending, improved resilience to compression, and can be patterned for directionally oriented responses to tensile loads. Also, tip bonded formed laminates made from multiple layers of formed substrates can use their layered structure to provide better aesthetics as well as better physical properties such as improved puncture resistance. Tip bonded formed laminates can be configured with thicker portions and designed patterns, which are appealing to consumers. A tip bonded formed laminate can be made from two or more formed substrates and can be used instead of a single, thick, unformed, substrate, so the laminate can use about the same amount of material, while still providing surprising functional benefits.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2018Date of Patent: June 1, 2021Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Daniel Charles Peck, John Brian Strube, Matthew William Waldron

Patent number: 8702308Abstract: The present invention is directed toward an improved construction of an elastic drawstring trash bag. The elastic drawstring trash bag described herein is comprised of a plastic bag made from two panels. An elastic drawstring is provided within hems running along the top of the two panels. The upper opening of the elastic drawstring bag is reduced (when the bag is in a relaxed state) by decreasing the distance between the interior edges of the short seals used to weld the drawstrings and bag together. Like an ordinary non-elastic drawstring bag, the elastic drawstring is pulled through access cutouts centrally located along the upper edge of the bag. When the bag of the present invention is in a relaxed state, the reduced upper opening width of the elastic drawstring bag is therefore less than bag proper width, allowing a consumer to pull the elastic drawstring bag over the lip of a trash receptacle and allowing the elastic drawstrings to snugly fit around the trash can.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2008Date of Patent: April 22, 2014Assignee: Poly-America, L.P.Inventor: Michael A. Patent number: 8602649Abstract: An improved liner having an elastic securing mechanism that may be placed in a vessel to form and maintain a barrier between the vessel and objects contained therein. The liner includes an elastic securing band secured around the perimeter of the open top end of the liner using a plurality of spaced-apart tack welds or rivets. In one embodiment, the liner material is folded over the elastic and ultrasonic sealing is used to burn through the elastic and seal the folded liner material to itself thereby securing the elastic to the liner. In use, the liner is placed within a receptacle of the vessel and the open top end is folded outward and downward over a rim of the vessel such that the elastic engages an outside of the vessel to form a secure and snug fit of the liner to the vessel. Advantageously, a failure to a portion of the elastic is limited to that portion of the elastic only and propagation of the failure is limited by the rivets.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2010Date of Patent: December 10, 2013Assignee: M&Q IP Leasing, Inc.Inventors: Michael D. Publication number: 20130315509Abstract: The present invention is a lawn care and collection system that includes a disposable plastic air gill bag that receives leaves and yard debris preferably air blown or manually raked to be collected, contained and disposed of. It includes gill columns disposed on the air gill bag that provide controlled air flow and ventilation, tie string ports and vertical strength columns. A pair of air curtains is removably attached to a pair of single rod vertical supports via a sewn sleeve to one rod of double rod vertical supports that are removably and adjustably secured to an air curtain. The air gill bag is removably and adjustably connected to a second rod of the double rod vertical supports through the incorporated tie string ports on both sides of the air gill bag.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 2012Publication date: November 28, 2013Inventor: Darrell Lee Cheney

Publication number: 20130301958Abstract: The present invention relates to polymeric bags, particularly polymeric drawstring trash bags. The present invention comprises a trash bag having an elastic drawstring. The elastic drawstring trash bag features a short seal and an inner seal at each upper corner of the drawstring trash bag. The short seal and inner seal are separated by a small unsealed area. The inner seal serves to reduce the upper opening of the drawstring trash bag, while the elastic drawstring utilized with the bag provides a bag that allows the bag to fit snugly on many common trash receptacles.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2013Publication date: November 14, 2013Inventor: Michael A. Patent number: 8556508Abstract: The bag (1) includes an elastic band (16) joined to the face (1a) of the bag by two joining areas (17; 2a) in such a manner that the useful length, when the elastic band is at rest (L2), corresponds to the space between the two joining areas on the bag or is less than the length (L1) of the longitudinal edge of the face. The elastic band extends over the entire width of the bag, from one lateral edge to the other, the elastic band being welded to two faces of the bag along these lateral edges, one of the at least two joining areas forming an intermediate joining area (17) located at a distance from the lateral edges.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2004Date of Patent: October 15, 2013Assignee: SphereInventor: John Persenda

Patent number: 8550713Abstract: A bag for enclosing a handheld electronic device (HED) comprises a flexible sheet material such as a flexible or stretchy fabric. The material is formed into a bag having a main body and a mouth. The mouth has a periphery smaller than the periphery of the main body. The mouth can elastically stretch to allow passage of the HED. First and second loops are attached to and project from the bag adjacent to the mouth to allow a user to support the bag with thumb and forefinger while inserting the HED. In one embodiment, an elastic structure comprises the periphery of the mouth. The unstretched length of such an elastic structure may be adjusted to compensate for the size of the HED.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2009Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Inventor: Edward L. Schwarz

Publication number: 20130202229Abstract: One or more implementations of a multi-layered bag with reinforced seals include an outer layer or bag and an inner layer or bag positioned within the outer layer or bag. The multi-layered bag further includes a draw tape positioned near the opening of the multi-layered bag. The draw tape can allow a user to at least partially close the multi-layered bag by drawing the layers of the bag together. The multi-layered bag further includes one or more tape seals that bond the draw tape to layers of the bag. The tape seals can be reinforced and include at least seven plies bonded together. One or more implementations further include methods of forming multi-layered bags with reinforced seals.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2013Publication date: August 8, 2013Applicant: The Glad Products CompanyInventor: The Glad Products Company

Publication number: 20130188891Abstract: Trash bags may be formed to include first and second sidewalls joined along a first side edge, an opposite second side edge, and a closed bottom edge to form an outer bag. A second inner bag may be inserted within the first bag to form a “bag-in-a-bag” type configuration in which the inner bag is bonded to the outer bag along side seals by a continuous process. The bags may also be bonded together along the hem and the draw tape. When the side seals of the inner bag and the outer bag are sealed together by a continuous rather than a reciprocating process, the inventors have surprisingly found that such seals require carefully controlled process conditions to prevent inadequate seals.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2012Publication date: July 25, 2013Applicant: The Glad Products CompanyInventors: Jason R.
