Patent number: 5743652Abstract: An improved resealable bag, typically used for snacks such as potato chips, cookies, and other types of chips. A set of snaps are fixed directly onto the bag, and are spaced along each side of the bag, closer to the top than the bottom, with the space between a snap and the top of the bag sufficient so that the top edge and a portion of the bag can be folded over, and then the top portion of the bag being rolled in the opposite direction until the snaps are again oriented similarly as they were prior to the rolling. The snaps are grasped, which causes the sides of the bag adjacent to the snaps to move inward, providing an open space through which the snaps are urged together and attached to each other, so that the rolled portion is formed into a U-shape. This causes the folded top edge and layers of the rolled portion to press together, so as to prevent any air from moving from the outside of the bag to the contents, or from the contents to outside the bag.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1996Date of Patent: April 28, 1998Inventor: Daniel A. Patent number: 5078509Abstract: A resealable package for snack food items and a method of making the same from a sheet of flexible material. Two side edges of the sheet are joined together in a seam, with a flap extending longitudinally from an exterior surface of the package. A resealable adhesive is disposed beneath the flap, whereby the flap serves as a release strip to protect the adhesive until use. The consumer re-closes the package by removing the release strip to expose the adhesive. The package then is folded downward a number of times until the exterior surface of the package is secured to the adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1990Date of Patent: January 7, 1992Assignee: Recot, Inc.Inventors: John L. Patent number: 5056934Abstract: A reusable bag for storing items. The bag has a band located over at least part of the bag's outer surface. The band is detachably secured to the bag with an adhesive. To reseal the bag after opening, the band is partially lifted away from the bag. A space is thus created between the band and the bag into which the twisted end of the bag may be inserted and secured. The band contains adhesive on only a center region of the band to permit the band to be easily separated from the bag and so that user contact with the band does leave adhesive on the user's fingers or wear adhesive from the band.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1991Date of Patent: October 15, 1991Assignee: Del Puerto Marketing CompanyInventors: Angelo Ielmini, Leslie Duck, John V. Patent number: 5044776Abstract: The invention disclosed provides a resealable closure system for a non-rigid product bag. The resealable closure system is generally an adhesive strip affixed to a non-rigid product bag which allows the bag to be reclosed a multiple number of times. The resealable closure system has a permanent adhesive on the first surface such that the system can be affixed to a non-rigid product bag and positioned between the top and the bottom of the bag. The second surface of the bag has a controlled peel adhesive disposed thereon. A release liner containing perforations cut essentially perpendicular to the system's length cover the controlled peel adhesive until use. These perforations permit defined segments of the release liner to be removed to expose new areas of adhesive thereby providing fresh securing sites for subsequent closure and sealing of the bag.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1990Date of Patent: September 3, 1991Assignee: Morgan Adhesives CompanyInventors: Kurt M. Patent number: 4911563Abstract: An attachment for a flexible package is disclosed to enable the user to fasten a re-closable package. A bifurcated adhesive member is secured to the body portion of the package at a distance from the opening thereof. The member has a jaw-like construction with hingeline about which one of the jaws may pivot. When the jaws are opened by the user, the re-closed, folded end of the package may be inserted therebetween, and the jaws subsequently closed to retain the package in re-closed condition. It is particularly useful for flexible packages of corn flakes, potato chips, cheese, etc., where portions of the contents are removed over a period of time, gradually decreasing the volume of the contents and forming a sequentially smaller package which should be re-sealed to preserve the freshness of the contents.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1988Date of Patent: March 27, 1990Assignee: Anchor Continental, Inc.Inventor: Faust A.
