Patent number: 5286115Abstract: A stud type track roller bearing includes a shaft provided with a flange, an annular side plate located in an opposed relationship and fixedly attached to the shaft, a ring fitted onto the flange, a plurality of rollers interposed between the ring and the shaft, a sliding member interposed between the ring and the flange and also between the ring and the side plate, a retainer for retaining the rollers in position. The ring has a pair of opposite flat end surfaces, all of which provide a sliding contact surface. The rollers mainly serve to support the load in the radial direction and the sliding members mainly serve to support the load in the axial direction.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1992Date of Patent: February 15, 1994Assignee: Nippon Thompson Co., Ltc.Inventors: Tosio Toji, Juichi Amano

Patent number: 4988218Abstract: A thrust bearing or thrust bearings are adapted to be used in pressurized lubricating systems to maintain lubricant under pressure in these systems. The pressure assures improved lubrication and particularly with a grease lubricant improves lubrication and system life, and maintains the system free of voids and contaminants. Seals within the system maintain pressure and prevent lubricant outflow while functioning with static and/or moving parts. Round or square cross-sectioned O-rings preferably act as seals. A special O-ring having separable end segments may be used in the systems with the thrust bearings to seal against pressure and lubricant outflow.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1988Date of Patent: January 29, 1991Inventor: Lawrence D. Quaglia

Patent number: 4938610Abstract: A rolling contact device having a shaft adapted to be secured to an element of an apparatus, an outer ring adapted to be in rolling contact with another element of the apparatus, and rolling elements disposed between the shaft and the outer ring, includes an abutting portion provided on each shaft and the outer ring, the abutting portions on the shaft and the outer ring being opposed to each other with a small gap defined therebetween. These abutting portions are arranged such that, when an excessive radial load is applied to the outer ring, the abutting portions are brought into contact with each other to prevent permanent deformation of rolling contact portions of the device.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1989Date of Patent: July 3, 1990Assignee: Sankyo Manufacturing Company, Ltd.Inventor: Heizaburo Kato

Patent number: 4915511Abstract: A roller chain having plural bearing rollers located around the outer-periphery of a bushing, rollers surrounding the plural bearing rollers and thrust rings located at the gaps between rollers and inner link plate. The running resistance, abrasion and durability against the lateral force of the chain are improved.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1986Date of Patent: April 10, 1990Assignee: Tsubakimoto Chain Co.Inventors: Katsumi Kotegawa, Makoto Kanehira, Kiyofumi Suzuki, Shinichi Hayashi, Hidekazu Adachi

Patent number: 4881828Abstract: A rolling contact device having a shaft adapted to be secured to an element of an apparatus, an outer ring adapted to be in contact with another element of the apparatus, and rolling elements disposed between the shaft and the outer ring. The contact device has a projection mounted on or integrated with the shaft. The projection is so arranged that, when an excessive radial load is applied to the outer ring from the above-mentioned another element, the projection is brought into contact with the another element and reduces the load acting on contact portions among the rolling elements, the outer ring and the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1989Date of Patent: November 21, 1989Assignee: Sankyo Manufacturing Company, Ltd.Inventor: Heizaburo Kato

Patent number: 4875787Abstract: In a bearing bushing for universal joint pins, a thrust washer on the bottom of the bearing bushing has a contact surface for a plurality of cylindrical rollers and for a universal joint pin. The thrust washer has a number of recesses on the side facing away from the cylindrical rollers which are distributed around the periphery and which extend from the lateral surface in a radial direction approximately over the length of the contact surface for the cylindrical rollers. Two adjacent recesses form a projection between them in each case.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1988Date of Patent: October 24, 1989Inventors: Bernhard Bauer, Herbert Dobhan

Patent number: 4854738Abstract: A drawn cup needle bearing with an open end and a covered end contains multiple roller elements in a retainer or cage. The bearing is installed on a trunnion of a universal joint and has a protuberance projecting inwardly from the covered end so as to provide a bearing surface between the protuberance and the end of the trunnion. The protuberance is surrounded by an annular region which has been spring-tempered to allow the covered end to flex without cracking during installation of the bearing onto the trunnion and during normal operation.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1988Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Assignee: The Torrington CompanyInventor: Elmer H.
