Abstract: A variable vane assembly for a gas turbine engine having a casing, including: a variable vane including a platform and a vane stem extending outwardly from the platform; a bushing surrounding the vane stem; a lever for moving the vane between a closed position and an open position; and, a mechanism for incrementally rotating the bushing to a new circumferential position with respect to the vane stem as the vane is cycled each time between the closed and open positions.
Abstract: A turboalternator system includes a turboalternator having a rotatable member operatively engaged to a bearing set, a radial support element, and a contact structure engaged with the radial support element. The rotatable member defines a first end, a second end and an axis of rotation. The turboalternator system is configured to be thermally adjustable such that in a first thermal condition the contact structure is at a first radial position with respect to the axis of rotation and contacts the rotatable member to provide support, and in a second thermal condition the contact structure is at a second radial position with respect to the axis of rotation that is spaced further from the axis of rotation than the first radial position. The contact structure includes a ring having a groove formed in an outer diameter surface thereof, and the radial support element engages the groove in the contact structure.
Abstract: A wheel guide control arm (1) is provided for an axle of a motor vehicle. The wheel guide control arm (1) has two end areas (2, 5) with at least one bearing arrangement (3, 4, 6, 7) each. The bearing arrangement of at least one end area is designed as an elastomer bearing. The wheel guide control arm (1) has a wheel-side bearing arrangement (6, 7) with an elastomer bearing (7). The wheel guide control arm is especially suitable for the active chassis and for managing the conflict of goals between comfort mounting and precision of wheel guiding. The wheel guide control arm makes it, furthermore, possible to introduce actuator forces or torques into the wheel suspension without induction of appreciable elastic deformations.

Abstract: The invention provides a bearing device of a compressor for a refrigerator which can widen a clearance between a sliding surface of a bearing and a surface of a crank shaft at a time of starting, while narrowing the clearance between the sliding surface of the bearing and the surface of the crank shaft at a time of a regular operation of the compressor for the refrigerator. A thickness of a resin sliding layer is set in such a manner that a bearing clearance at a starting time becomes relatively larger than a bearing clearance at a regular operating time within a range which is equal to or more than 2.5% and is equal to or less than 20%. Accordingly, since the bearing clearance becomes larger within the range which is equal to or more than 2.
Abstract: A centrifugal force bearing having a means for providing a steady pitching moment is disclosed. The centrifugal force bearing may optionally comprise a coning means. A rotor system having the centrifugal force bearing is disclosed. A rotary-wing aircraft having the centrifugal force bearing is disclosed.

Abstract: A track-type work machine is provided, including a roller frame and a track extending about the roller frame. A track roller is mounted along the roller frame and rotatable against the track. The track roller is rotatably supported by a bearing that includes a shaft extending in the track roller and at least one sleeve rotatable about the shaft. At least one of the sleeve and the track roller include a load transmitting crown. A method is further provided of reducing edge loading of a track roller bearing, by transmitting selected loads on the bearing toward a center thereof at least in part by crowning a rotatable sleeve of the bearing.
Abstract: A porous bronze 1b and a resin 1c impregnated in pores of the porous bronze 1b formed on a backing metal 1a constitute a bearing 1. At a surface to be brought into contact with a crank shaft 5, porous bronze 1b and resin 1c are sparsely exposed. Ratio of area of exposure of porous bronze 1b at the contact surface 1d is at least 5% and at most 60%. Thus a bearing for a refrigerating compressor having high seizure resistance at the time of boundary lubrication and having small amount of wear caused by sliding as well as a refrigerating compressor employing the same can be obtained.
Abstract: A bearing includes a bearing component, such as a bearing race, having a bearing contact surface. A region at the bearing contact surface is made of titanium aluminide, preferably an alpha-2 or gamma titanium aluminide. A case-hardened layer present at the surface of the titanium aluminide region increases the hardness and wear resistance of the titanium aluminide at elevated temperature. The case-hardened layer is preferably formed by diffusing carbon into the surface of the titanium aluminide from a gaseous medium, at elevated temperature land at ambient or reduced pressure.

Abstract: An electric motor has a rotor shaft which is journalled in an axial bearing located within a bearing tube of a stator. To control relative axial movement of the rotor shaft and bearing, a butting ring is fixed, by supporting arms, in the butt end of the rotor shaft. An abutment surface of the butting ring abuts an end face of the bearing. Lubricant pockets are formed in the abutment surface to hold a lubricant. A further supply of lubricant is received within a lubricant storage pocket formed in a surface of said butting ring opposed to said abutment surface. The lubricant storage pocket is connected to the lubricant pockets by way of connecting channels.
Abstract: A hydrodynamic gas journal bearing system using rotating bushes which are able to radially move relative to a shaft, the movement being controlled by a spring support system, and in which a degree of dynaMic imbalance of the rotating system is incorporated, these features and the design of the system being together such as to suppress the onset of self-excited instability (half-speed whirl) of the rotating system.
Abstract: A video head drum for a helical scan type video tape recorder, in which a rotary head drum is fixed to a rotary shaft by use of a ring member placed over a cylindrical member which is fitted into the central portion of the rotary head drum and substantially fixed thereto and in which the rotary shaft is inserted, and a pair of ring-shaped fastening plates. The cross section of the ring member in the rotating axial direction indicates an outward bulge at the center and the ring-shaped fastening plates are disposed so as to sandwich the bulge. By fastening the ring-shaped plates, the ring member is forced to be compressed in the radius direction thereof, fixing tightly the cylindrical member to the rotary shaft and consequently fixing the rotary head drum to the rotary shaft, whereby correct attachment of the rotary head drum to the rotary shaft, without causing any eccentric rotation of the rotary head drum or vibrations thereof, can be attained.
