Abstract: An eccentric bearing for driving pump poppets, wherein the motor shaft is non-eccentric and no U-shaped follower is used. The eccentric bearing has an inner bearing cylinder, an outer bearing ring and a roller or ball bearing interfacing between the inner bearing cylinder and the outer bearing ring. A shaft bore is provided in the inner bearing cylinder at a location off-set from the axial center of the inner bearing cylinder. A non-eccentric shaft (that is, the shaft rotates symmetrically about its axis of rotation) is affixed to the shaft bore, and the mass is centrifugally balanced in the inner bearing cylinder. A pair of poppet head clips are attached to an outer bearing surface of the outer bearing ring for clipping onto diametrically disposed poppet heads.

Abstract: A cam mechanism incorporating a highly precise bearing structure that improves the dynamic stability of the cam mechanism's rotating output component. Relevant structures consist of a worm gear driven rotating shaft driving a rotating output shaft supported by a cross roller bearing assembly incorporating V-shaped inner and outer bearing races that sandwich and ride over a set of rollers. Of particular note is that the outer or inner bearing race may be formed as a groove machined directly into the circumferential surface of the output shaft. Because the outer bearing race is a ring-shaped structure that concentrically surrounds the rotating output shaft, the output shaft and bearing races can be machined simultaneously as a single workpiece to assure a high degree of concentricity between the shaft and bearing races.

  • Patent number: 4974972
Abstract: A cross roller bearing includes a slotted cage structure that separates and controls tapered rollers as they roll on the bearing races. The cage is a load-bearing structure that is in sliding contact with the larger diameter axial end surface of the rollers, thereby preventing any sliding contact between the bearing races and the axial ends of the rollers. The point of sliding contact between the cage and the rollers may be selected for minimizing friction.

  • Patent number: 4961653
Abstract: A crossed roller bearing assembly includes an outer ring provided with an outer V-shaped guide groove, an inner ring provided with an inner V-shaped guide groove and a plurality of rollers arranged in a guide space defined between the outer and inner V-shaped guide grooves in a rolling contact fashion. An insertion hole is formed in one of the outer and inner rings and the insertion hole preferably has a diameter which is larger than the diameter of the rollers, but smaller than a diagonal length in cross section of the rollers. A plug having a shape which substantially corresponds to the shape of the insertion hole is fitted into the insertion hole after insertion of the rollers. No gap or clearance is defined between the insertion hole and the plug so that the rollers can roll along the guide space smoothly.

  • Patent number: 4915513
Abstract: Rollers (9a) having a frustoconical lateral wall interposed between two raceways (4, 6) of two rings (1, 2) alternate with rollers (9b) interposed between two other raceways (3, 7) of the rings (1, 2). A crown region (11) of the large base of each roller slides against the confronting raceway (7) or (6) on the outer ring (2). Crown regions (11) of the rollers (9a, 9b) of each series of rollers substantially pertain to a common ideal sphere (Sx,Sy) centered on a common apex (X, Y) toward which converges the lateral walls of the rollers of the same series and the associated raceways. The angle made between the two raceways of the outer ring is less than 90.degree.. By this arrangement is achieved, between the crown region of each roller and the raceway against which the crown region bears, a contact (T) distributed along a segment of a circle centered on the axis of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4909641
Abstract: The bearing has an expanded load zone for better distribution of the load among the rollers, if used, or balls, if used, and allows the bearing to perform better under conditions of misalignment. As an example, the bearing may include a non-rotating ring which has an elastomer of non-uniform thickness bonded to it. The non-uniform thickness of the elastomer will cause a bearing race to go out of round when under load to the point that each roller or ball in approximately 180.degree. of the load zone has the same load, thus reducing maximum rolling element stress. Plastic, lead, alloys, or babbitt materials may be used as an alternative to elastomeric material.

Abstract: A crossed roller rolling contact bearing assembly includes a pair of first and second members which move relative to each other, a guide channel defined between the first and second members and a plurality of rollers provided in the guide channel in a crossed arrangement with a spacer interposed between any two adjacent rollers. The spacer has a generally spherical outer peripheral surface and a pair of recessed, arc-shaped guide surfaces which have generatrix lines extending perpendicular to each other. Becuase of the spherical outer shape of the spacer, a generally wedge-shaped space is defined between the roller and the spacer so that a quantity of lubricant may be reserved therein to keep the guide channel sufficiently lubricated at all times.

The adapter assembly includes a first disc member mountable on the front surface of the forward wall of the principal housing. The first disc comprises a rearwardly extending bearing housing in the plane of the forward wall replacing the original forward bearing for the transfer shaft. A replacement bearing is mounted within the bearing housing on a new axis parallel to and displaced from the original axis of the transfer shaft, permitting continued usage of the chain after the chain would have to have been replaced according to prior practice.

Abstract: A ball bearing comprising a substantially circular inner race having a first center, a substantially circular outer race having a second center substantially surrounding the inner race. The outer race is made up of a base and a pair of radially inwardly extending flanges which are spaced apart axially from one another. The flanges extend further inwardly at or adjacent the top of the bearing than they do from the bottom of the bearing. Rollable balls are held by the races in the usual manner. The provision of the extended upper flange permits greater wear of the balls before the bearing fails. This increases the times between the need for bearing changes.

  • Patent number: 4854750
Abstract: A bearing assembly supporting a shaft for rotation about its longitudinal axis comprising, a support, at least three outer races, a plurality of rolling elements, and at least three inner races. Each of the outer races comprises a circular inner surface of a respective ring member. The inner races comprise respective circular outer surfaces in the shaft which are concentric and disposed laterally of one another along the longitudinal axis. The ring members are disposed opposite to respective ones of the inner races to form laterally disposed annular spaces in which plural rolling elements are located. One ring member is arranged to be adjustably moved by a spring inward radially with respect to the axis from a first point on the circumference thereof to take up the clearances at that point.
