  • Patent number: 9316259
Abstract: Construction of a rolling bearing with seal ring can be achieved in which, while securing the required seal performance, the rotation support portion can be made more compact by shortening the dimension in the axial direction of the installation space for an inner ring 3a, and torque can be lowered. A sliding contact edge 23 of a seal lip 12a that is provided around the inner-circumferential edge portion of a seal ring 5a on one end side in the axial direction comes in sliding contact with one end surface 24 of the inner ring 3a. The tip-end edge of a protruding portion 20 closely faces the surface of the inner ring 3a, forming a labyrinth seal 19 in this portion. With this construction, a stopper ring 17 for regulating the position in the axial direction of the inner ring 3a with respect to a shaft 15 is located so as not to protrude from the end surface in the axial direction of the rolling bearing 1a with seal ring.

Abstract: A double-row angular contact ball bearing is provided with inner and outer rings, balls in two rows, a cage for holding the balls, and non-contact sealing devices made of a substantially disc-like member. Radial outer end portions of a metallic sealing device are respectively fit and swaged into grooves arranged at both axial end portions of the outer ring's inner circumferential surface. The ratio Ts/Tr is equal to or lower than 0.07, where Ts is the sealing device thickness and Tr is the outer ring thickness at the bottom portion of the groove. In addition, the ball diameter is equal to or greater than 75% of a half a bearing width to equal to or greater than 83% thereof. Furthermore, an axial width Tc of the radial outer end portion having a substantially U-shape is equal to or smaller than 2.7 mm.

  • Patent number: 6008556
Abstract: This invention is directed to a seal device for an energy conversion device which has a rotating shaft supported by bearing assemblies containing lubrication. The seal device inhibits migration of the lubrication from a first portion of the shaft near the bearing assembly to a second portion of the shaft near electronic circuitry. The seal device includes a seal mounting structure which separates the first portion of the shaft from the second portion of the shaft. The seal mounting structure has a shaft receiving surface through which the shaft is placed. A groove is located in the shaft receiving surface and a seal is secured in the groove by various means and remains stationary with respect to the rotating shaft. The seal has an inner segment that surrounds the periphery of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5221147
Abstract: A bearing case for a multiple-row self-aligning antifriction bearing, preferably a self-aligning roller bearing, supports a roll journal and has a circulating oil lubrication system with oil feed line and outlet channel. The discharge point of the feed line is located on the one side of the antifriction bearing while the entrance to the outlet channel is arranged on the other side of the antifriction bearing. Provided between the discharge point of the feed line and the adjacent end wall of the bearing case is a baffle that interacts with a stop ring surrounding the roll journal as a sealing element. The stop ring is movable in radial direction relative to the baffle.

  • Patent number: 5209499
Abstract: A unitized radial lip seal assembly includes an outer annular case and an inner annular wear sleeve loosely interlocked by flanges or walls formed at the axial ends of the wear sleeve. After initial installation of the unitized assembly within a housing, the wear sleeve can be axially shifted a slight distance to provide a slight axial separation of the wear sleeve from the annular case. Two separate lip seal elements are mounted to the outer annular case and protected from damage during shipping and installation by abutting surfaces of the case and wear sleeve.
