Ball Or Race Composition Or Material Patents (Class 384/492)
  • Publication number: 20100247280
Abstract: A ball bearing having external surfaces coated with ceramic materials is provided. The raceways of the ball bearing may advantageously be formed of metal such as stainless steel. The ceramic coating acts as an insulator increasing the resistance of the ball bearing to heat within the ball bearing environment. The balls within the raceway of the ball bearing may advantageously be coated with a lubricant to decrease friction in the ball bearing because the insulating ceramic coating prevents the environmental heat from causing the degradation of the lubricant.

  • Patent number: 7658547
Abstract: The invention relates to a radial roller bearing, having an outer bearing ring and an inner bearing ring, and rolling bodies located between the rings. Some of the rollers are formed by individual hollow rollers of a shape memory alloy. The cross-section of the shape memory alloy rollers is deformed during the assembly of the radial roller bearing to fit the dimensions of the free space between the rims of the rings. The rollers are introduced into the radial roller bearing through the free space between the rims of the bearing rings. After introduction into the radial roller bearing and once they have reached a specific temperature, the rollers independently regain their original shape.

  • Publication number: 20090304318
Abstract: In order to ensure high levels of insulation performance, and low cost, and have an excellent external appearance, as a ceramic constituting an insulating coating 6 being a ceramic coating layer, one with alumina as its main component, and in which the content of titanium oxide is limited to 0.01 to 0.2 percent by weight is used. Moreover, a particle size of ceramic forming the coating layer is 10 to 50 ?m, and average particle size is 15 to 25 ?m. By limiting the content of titanium oxide, the insulating coating 6 can be made thin, and by limiting the particle size the film thickness accuracy can be improved, thus simplifying finishing. Moreover, by mixing of titanium oxide, deterioration of the external appearance after sealing can be prevented. As a result, the above problem is solved.

Abstract: In a first rolling bearing of this X-ray tube apparatus, an ion nitriding layer is formed on a raceway surface of an inner ring, and an ion nitriding layer is formed on a raceway surface of an outer ring. As the results, surface hardness of the raceway surface of the inner ring and the raceway surface of the outer ring is enhanced, and abrasion resistance can be improved. On the other hand, in a second rolling bearing, an ion nitriding layer and a diamond-like carbon film are successively formed on a raceway surface of an inner ring, and an ion nitriding layer and a diamond-like carbon film are successively formed on a raceway surface of an outer ring. As the results, the second rolling bearing which is positioned closer to the target has a double hardening structure.

Abstract: The invention relates to an antifriction bearing race, particularly for highly stressed antifriction bearings in aircraft power units, which are comprised of a fixed joining of two layers made of different metallic materials, the area of the raceway for the roller bodies being made of a steel with a very high degree of hardness and resistance to wear, and the core area of the antifriction bearing race being made of a high-strength steel. According to the invention, a powder-metallurgical high-speed steel having a high content of carbide-forming alloying elements and a high carbon content is provided as the material for the raceway of the roller bodies, whereas the material for the core area of the antifriction bearing race is made of a hot-work steel with, in comparison to the raceway material, a lower content of carbide-forming alloying elements and with a low carbon content, both materials being joined to one another with material fit by diffusion welding.

  • Patent number: 7275319
Abstract: A rolling element bearing comprises an inner ring and an outer ring which are each provided with a raceway, and a series of rolling elements which are in contact with the raceways of each ring. A lubricant film is provided in the contacts between the rolling elements and the raceways, which film forms a lubricant meniscus at the inlet side of each contact. In the bearing starved lubrication conditions prevail. The surface of each rolling element has minute recesses filled with a lubricant quantity, said recesses being flattened in the contact area defined by the contact between the rolling elements and the rings and thereby releasing lubricant at the inlet side of each contact resulting in a displacement of the meniscus further away from said contact. This meniscus displacement results in an increased lubricant film thickness in each contact area, thus improving the lubricating conditions in the bearing.
