  • Publication number: 20100220949
Abstract: The invention relates to a bearing arrangement (1) comprising an at least partially planar bearing support (2) that has a supporting bore (5), and at least one bearing (6) which is connected to said bearing support (2). An external ring (7) of the bearing (6) is provided with a recess (14) for accommodating the bearing support (2). According to the invention, the axially internal end of the recess (14) has an undercut (15), the diameter (D1) of which in relation to a bearing axis (11) is smaller than a diameter (D2) formed by an axially extending section of the recess (14). A slotted ring-type holding element (16) which positively covers the bearing support (2) in a radial direction in at least one circumferential point is inserted into the undercut (15).

  • Patent number: 6138948
Abstract: A bearing arrangement is provided in which bearings (60) are held captive between opposing bearing surfaces of laces (24, 62). A closeable delivery hole (64) provides a route through which bearings can be inserted into or removed from the space between the races (24, 62). A ball rake (54) is moveable into engagement with the bearings (60) and is rotatable so as to sweep the bearings towards the delivery hole for removal.

  • Patent number: 5507094
Abstract: A wheel spindle and bearing assembly for either a non-drive or driven wheel of a vehicle includes a unitary spindle of substantially constant diameter along the bearing section which includes dual raceways formed in the outer surface. Dual annular arrays of antifriction elements are seated in the raceways and are held captive by dual outer support rings, thus providing relative rotation between the spindle and the rings. The support rings are preferably mounted for telescoping movement relative to each other between a retracted position in the direction of the axis of the spindle to allow loading of the antifriction elements and an axially extended position for applying an opposed, axial preload force to the bearing assembly. In the axially extended position the rings form a gap between opposed faces and a split, annular keeper is positioned in the gap and held in compression to secure the entire assembly. The cross section area of the keeper is slightly larger than the gap to establish the preload force.

  • Patent number: 4913564
Abstract: The rolling bearing comprises a housing (10), rolling elements (20), at least one ring (30) in two ring parts (31, 32) freely mounted one inside the other and defining raceways (231, 232) on which roll the rolling elements, and an elastically yieldable prestressing device (50). This device is adjustable between two states, namely a first state in which an elastically yieldable member (53) exerts relatively no prestress for permitting the assembly and a second state in which the elastically yieldable member (3) exerts the prestress for normal operation of the bearing. Application in the case where the other ring (40) is a shaft carrying another raceway (240) along which the rolling elements roll.

  • Patent number: 4623268
Abstract: A ball bearing has an outer ring and an inner ring with respective rolling tracks for a set of balls, the ball bearing being of the so-called "oblique" type in which the rolling tracks, in section, constitute arcs of a curve the normal to which at the mid point of the curve is inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the axis of the rings. Adjacent the rolling track on the inner ring is a groove the minimum diameter of which is less than that of the rolling track and adjacent the rolling track of the outer ring is a cylindrical surface the diameter of which is less than the maximum diameter of the rolling track. The difference in diameters between the cylindrical surface and the minimum diameter of the groove is such that half this difference is equal to the diameter of a ball.
