  • Patent number: 8939651
Abstract: A bearing assembly includes at least first, second and third raceway elements that are each separable from each other and at least first, second and third rows of truncated-cone-shaped rolling elements. The first and second raceway elements are disposed side-by-side in an axial direction of the bearing assembly and oppoe the third raceway element in a radial direction of the bearing assembly. The first and second rows of rolling elements are disposed between the first raceway element and the third raceway element and the third row of rolling elements is disposed between the second raceway element and the third raceway element. The rolling elements of the first and second rows commonly roll on a first raceway of the third raceway element and the rolling elements of the third row roll on a second raceway of the third raceway element, which is not parallel to the first raceway.

  • Patent number: 8757890
Abstract: A method for assembling a set of bearing assemblies 100 onto a mill roll 10 and for establishing a required bearing setting. The mill roll 10 is configured to receive a set of bearing assemblies 100 at each axial end, with the bearing rolling elements 100A contained within supporting chocks 102 adapted for placement within a mill housing. The chock assembly 102R and bearing assembly 100 at a first end of the roll are positioned first, and coupled to the first end an axial center rod 22 passing through an axial bore 24 of the roll 12. The chock assembly 102L and bearing assembly 100 at the second end of the roll 12 is then positioned onto the opposite end of the roll 12, and a connecting sub-assembly 300, 400, 504A is secured to the second end of the axial center rod 22. The connecting sub-assembly engages the second chock assembly 102L and bearing assembly 100, and is adjusted to achieve a desired bearing setting for both bearing assemblies 100 through the center rod 22.

  • Publication number: 20130283954
Abstract: An inner raceway (3) having a rolling element raceway facing radially outward, for an angular contact bearing arrangement, and particularly an angular ball bearing arrangement, where a cylindrical surface which is situated at the furthest outward position radially is included as a seal seat. Such inner raceways are used in wheel bearing units, for example, which have an orbital rivet bond, which in turn can also form an end-face gearing (7). The orbital rivet bond and the axial extension (8) of the inner raceway form an annular gap (20) which leads to a configuration where a decoupling of loads from the inner raceway (3) prevents an undesired deformation of the same. In addition, advantages result from the sealing of the region of the orbital rivet bond and/or the end-face gearing (7) thereof.

  • Patent number: 8215845
Abstract: A tandem set of angular contact ball bearings each having an inner ring, an outer ring and balls therebetween, wherein each bearing contains balls that are spaced from each other by slug ball separators. A rotary wing aircraft rotor head assembly includes a rotor head member, a plurality of spindles attached to the head member at equal interval around the center of the head member, and a stack of ball bearings mounted on each spindle. Each bearing has an inner ring, an outer ring, and a plurality of balls between the inner ring and the outer ring, and slug ball separators between adjacent balls, and there is a mounting collar on the ball bearings.

  • Publication number: 20090129713
Abstract: It is aimed to increase the rigidity of an angular contact ball bearing of the type in which each ball contacts at least one of the raceways at two points, improve the lubricating environment of the balls, reduce the weight of the bearing while maintaining wear resistance and rigidity of the balls, reduce the weight of the bearing while maintaining wear resistance of the balls, improve the radial rigidity and axial rigidity of the bearing in a balanced manner, or to supply a sufficient amount of lubricating oil into an internal area between the two contact points between each ball and the raceway. A counter portion 7 is formed. With each ball 6 in contact with the raceway at two points, a gap is present between the portion of the bearing ring at the bearing centerline C and each ball 6. The balls 6 may be ceramic balls. A coating for improving wear resistance may be applied to the balls.

  • Patent number: 6113277
Abstract: An improved pivot mechanism for an actuator assembly of a disc drive having an E-block that supports plurality of read/write heads in data reading and writing relationship to an array of spinning data discs. The pivot mechanism has a bearing cartridge that supports the E-block and which pivots about a pivot shaft which supports a pair of ball bearings of the bearing cartridge. Each of the ball bearings contains only three balls that are evenly distributed circumferentially about the pivot shaft. Contact surfaces of the bearing outer race and inner race provide single-point contact between the races and the balls.

  • Patent number: 6003907
Abstract: A rotating joint for pressure hoses has a plug-in part (1) with a hollow pin (4) that projects into and is sealed against a receiving part (2). The rotating joint also has a rolling bearing, in particular a ball bearing, that has an outer race joined to the receiving part (2) and a inner race joined to the plug-in part (1), as well as two coaxially-arranged elastically biased angular ball bearings (K1 and K2). The angular ball bearings are biased by a thrust collar (21) under pressure, which is slipped onto the hollow pin (4) coaxially to the receiving part (2).

  • Patent number: 5800071
Abstract: A journal for a head tube of a bicycle includes a lower race fitted on an upper end of the head tube through which a steerer tube extends, the lower race having a first annular recess defined therein for receiving a plurality of balls. An upper race is securely mounted on the steerer tube and an annular element is securely disposed between the balls and the lower race. The annular element has a skirt portion extending radially outwardly from an outer periphery thereof which extends above the lower race and a track portion formed on an inner periphery thereof for rotatably receiving the balls therein.

  • Patent number: 5048982
Abstract: This invention relates to a rotary structure adapted to be used as a spindle unit for a miniature motor or miniature rotor or as a tape guide roller for a VTR. In the structure of the rotary mechanism, instead of a conventional expensive radial ball bearing, a substantially V-shaped groove is formed on a shaft itself so as to hold balls provided between this groove and the tapered surface or concave spherical ball receiving surface of an outer race provided around the groove.

  • Patent number: 5027023
Abstract: The reduction gear (6) is fastened to the body (1) of an electric motor including a gear, and the motor stator is fastened to the removable electronics part (13) of the body. The motor rotor (7) is connected to the gear with an input shaft (15), the output shaft (20) extending concentrically through the input shaft. The output shaft (20) is carried in bearings (3, 4) essentially near the end faces of the housing (1, 13). One end of the output shaft constitutes a flange-shaped cover (2) of the gear, the flange being carried in a bearing (3) close to the outer periphery of the housing. The gear can be realized as a friction gear with several stages.
