Patent number: 8475053Abstract: A first fit portion and a second fit portion of an inner ring according to the invention have a spring property. Therefore, the first and second fit portions may be flexed radially outward by elasticity thereof and then fitted to a shaft. Thus, the inner ring is tightly fitted to the shaft with a set interference with respect to the shaft. Accordingly, it is easy to fit/remove the inner ring to/from the shaft. Therefore, an outer peripheral face of the shaft is pushed radially inward by elasticity of the first and second fit portions, that is, the inner ring is tightly fitted to the shaft, without reducing the ease of fitting/removing the inner ring to/from the shaft. As a result, it is possible to minimize generation of creep.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2010Date of Patent: July 2, 2013Assignee: JTEKT CorporationInventor: Toshihiko Shiraki

Patent number: 4623268Abstract: A ball bearing has an outer ring and an inner ring with respective rolling tracks for a set of balls, the ball bearing being of the so-called "oblique" type in which the rolling tracks, in section, constitute arcs of a curve the normal to which at the mid point of the curve is inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the axis of the rings. Adjacent the rolling track on the inner ring is a groove the minimum diameter of which is less than that of the rolling track and adjacent the rolling track of the outer ring is a cylindrical surface the diameter of which is less than the maximum diameter of the rolling track. The difference in diameters between the cylindrical surface and the minimum diameter of the groove is such that half this difference is equal to the diameter of a ball.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1985Date of Patent: November 18, 1986Assignee: Riv-Skf Officine Di Villar Perosa S.p.A.Inventor: Giovanni Pollastro

Patent number: 4573809Abstract: A mounting of a shaft in the bore of a housing by two antifriction bearings mounted in a sleeve at a distance from each other, the said sleeve being arranged in the bore of a housing having a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the mounting elements and being provided with a radially outwardly directed flange, the flange being pressed by elastic spring means against a contact surface of the housing traversed by the bore whereby frictional engagement exists between the said surface and the flange characterized in that the sleeve and housing are axially braced with the elastic spring means preferably yielding axially and abutting a housing surface plane parallel to the contact surface and radially supporting the sleeve in relation to the housing, and a method of assembling the said mounting.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1984Date of Patent: March 4, 1986Assignee: INA Walzlager Schaeffler KGInventor: Werner Jacob

Patent number: 4563099Abstract: A rolling bearing unit, in particular a play-adjustable bearing arrangement, comprising a bearing shaft, a housing having a bore, and angular contact ball bearings having outer rings arranged in the housing bore and inner rings arranged on the bearing shaft. The shaft is provided with three annular grooves, a threaded portion, and an axial groove along the threaded portion. A locking ring is arranged in the first annular groove, a first cover is arranged on the shaft and abuts the locking ring, and the inner ring of the first bearing abuts the cover. The adjustment of the bearing play is achieved by adjustably arranging a second cover on the threaded portion of the shaft to abut the inner ring of the other ball bearing. The securing of the second cover against rotation relative to the shaft is achieved by deforming or indenting the boss of the cover to engage the axial groove.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1984Date of Patent: January 7, 1986Assignee: SKF Kugellagerfabriken GmbHInventors: Manfred Brandenstein, Roland Haas, Rudiger Hans

Patent number: 4530609Abstract: The specification discloses a light-duty conveyor roll bearing which is quiet, static conductive, and capable of operating at relatively high speeds. The bearing includes a stamped, cup-shaped outer race; an inner race positioned therein; and an end cap crimped to the rim of the outer race to shield one side of the ball raceway, to provide a thrust bearing surface for the balls, and to provide a seal contacting surface. Opposite the end cap, the outer race extends radially inwardly adjacent to or beyond the inner race to shield the other side of the ball raceway. A graphite-filled, electrically conductive, polymeric hub supports the inner race and includes an annular seal contacting the end cap to seal the one side of the ball raceway.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1983Date of Patent: July 23, 1985Assignee: FROCEMCO, Inc.Inventors: Philip D. Patent number: 4514015Abstract: In both the socket linkage and the ball bearing assembly the formed metal engages the curvature of the ball more than 90.degree. which retains the parts in assembled relationship. The forming is accomplished by cupping metal into a die with clearance between the die and the punch less than the metal thickness to cold extrude the metal past the minimum clearance. In the case of the socket linkage the ball is used as the punch and the forming operation completes the assembly of the ball to the socket. Each race of the ball bearing assembly must be stripped from the curved forming part (die or punch) before final assembly with the balls. If the stripping operation deforms the metal past its elastic limit, the desired shape can be restored by use of a straight walled forming part before or after the races have been assembled with the balls between the races.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1980Date of Patent: April 30, 1985Inventor: Jack W.
