  • Patent number: 7004636

The proposal is made that the bearing housing wall possess at least one ring shaped annular rib (42) which at least partially encompasses the bearing seat in an area (21), the angle (?) of inclination of which, relative to its original unloaded condition, would change itself to the greatest extent under load (11). Further proposed is that a plurality of additional ribs (43) run transverse to the annular rib (42). Thereby, with a relatively small consumption of material, a good shape-retention is achieved. In addition, a tilting of the bearing seat and the bearing is held to a lesser extent than is the case of conventional bearing housing structures.

  • Patent number: 6099165
Abstract: An annular support for supporting radial bearings and accommodating radial expansion and lateral displacement, and damping vibration of the bearing with respect to a static support structure includes an annular casing to support a bearing therein and a cantilevered support which has a first and second rings, axially spaced apart and connected by a plurality of flexible beams. The first ring is connected to the annular casing which is spaced radially, inwardly from the cantilevered support and the second ring is connected to the static support structure so that the flexibility of the beams permits the annular casing to move laterally in small distance while the annular support is supported to the static support structure. The flexibility is adjusted by selection of a combination of number, width and thickness of the beams. A service line is able to have an access between two adjacent beams to the annular casing to provide lubricating fluids.

Abstract: The locus of the displacement of the centers of the balls of a ball bearing is made elliptical and the radial bearing rigidity of the ball bearing in one radial direction is made greater than the radial bearing rigidity in another radial direction orthogonal to the one radial direction, or at least one of the axial length of the portion on the inner diametral surface of the inner race of the ball bearing which is fitted to a shaft and the axial length of the portion on the outer diametral surface of the outer race of the ball bearing which is fitted to a housing is made 1/2 or less of the bearing width of the ball bearing, whereby the radial rigidity of a ball bearing device is made very small as compared with the radial rigidity in the prior art. As a result, the stability of a swing arm system can be enhanced and higher speed and higher accuracy of control become possible.

  • Patent number: 5437209
Abstract: Two support arms of a bearing support member extend in opposite directions, each support arm having an overlying bearing cup engageable with a rocker arm. A bearing sleeve is mounted over each support arm between the respective bearing cup and the bearing support member to provide an inner raceway. Each bearing sleeve has sufficient radial clearance with respect to the respective support arm such that the bearing sleeve precesses with oscillation of the rocker arm. Rolling members within an annulus formed between the bearing support member and each bearing cup allow the rocker arm to freely oscillate rotatably with respect to the bearing support member.

  • Patent number: 5425584
Abstract: A fluid dampened support for a rolling element bearing such as a ball bearing, needle bearing, roller bearing and the like. The fluid dampened support includes a network of closely spaced beams which support the outer race of the roller bearing for movement in any direction. A liquid is provided in the spaces between the beams to dampen such movement. The structure and space between the beams is designed so as to provide virtually any reasonable damping characteristics. By providing such damping characteristics, the bearings are able to limit or damp out the vibrations occurring when the supported member passes through natural frequencies before reaching operating speed. This allows use of the rolling element bearing in high speed equipment such as compressors and turbines.
