Publication number: 20110211785Abstract: The present invention relates to automatic transmissions. In particular, the present invention relates to the GM 700r4 automatic transmission. More particularly, the invention relates to a novel bearing/oil seal designed to replace the OEM input to output oil seal in the GM 700r4 transmission which is known to have oil seal failure history. The OEM input and output shafts of transmissions produce substantial movement relative to each other. Excessive movement between the shafts causes rapid oil seal wear, oil loss, and transmission failures. The new bearing/oil seal design of the present invention serves to couple the shafts together, and provide a vertical sealing face for a more durable seal. The benefits from the new bearing/oil seal are less movement throughout the drive train, longer oil seal life, less binding of the ¾ clutch pack, longer transmission shelf life, and increasing overall durability.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2011Publication date: September 1, 2011Inventor: Luther Preston Deans

Patent number: 5435655Abstract: A tapered roller thrust bearing assembly with an internal seal and slotted closure cup. The seal is affixed to the inner surface of the closure cup and is totally enclosed thereby. A flexible flange portion on the seal prevents entry of debris into the bearing assembly, yet permits grease to exit the assembly. Patent number: 5134863Abstract: There is disclosed an improved circular sliver knitting machine having increased carding capacity for increasing the amount of sliver which can be carded and fed into the knitting machine. A mounting ring is fixed on an upper bed plate fixed to the sliver knitting machine frame. A plurality of sliver feed assemblies are supported on a sliver feed mounting plate secured to the upper bed plate. The sliver feed assemblies interconnect to a ring gear mounted in surrounding spaced relation to the mounting ring. The sliver feed assemblies card and feed sliver yarn to the knitting needles as the ring gear is turned. A bearing assembly for allowing rotation of the ring gear relative to the mounting ring while withstanding radial and tangential loads imparted on the ring gear includes at least one wire race extending along the outer surface of the mounting ring and at least one wire race extending along the inner surface of the ring gear.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1991Date of Patent: August 4, 1992Assignee: Mayer Industries, Inc.Inventor: Joseph C. Patent number: 5115746Abstract: A transverse guide roller for track-guidable buses effectively prevents the access water to the rotational bearing of such rollers housed rotatably in a horizontal plane. To this end, the rotational bearing is accommodated in a bearing bell which covers the rolling bearing arrangement in a protective and sealing manner. The wheel body has essentially the shape of a cup with an upwardly pointing opening and with a bearing journal projecting from the cup bottom. The rolling bearing is fixed on the bearing journal with the inner ring as a rotating rolling bearing ring. The cup bottom has, at its lowest point, several discharge orifices for the unhindered discharge of water which may have penetrated.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1990Date of Patent: May 26, 1992Assignee: Daimler-Benz AGInventor: Diether V. Patent number: 5097565Abstract: A caster bearing assembly attachable to a surface for facilitating the movement of a body along a roller plane located above the surface. The caster bearing assembly (10) includes a base part (16) mounted to the surface, a top part (18), bearings (20), and a roller assembly (22). The bearings fit within a bearing raceway (24) formed by an outer race (42) in the base part and an inner race (56) in the top part, thereby allowing the top part to fully and freely move relative to the base part. The bearings are inserted into the bearing raceway through an opening (58) extending from an exposed surface (54) of the top part to the bearing raceway. The opening is then sealed with a plug (60) having an inner surface (62) substantially matching the inner race at which the opening terminates. The roller assembly is fixedly attached to the top part so that the orientation of its rollers (26) may be varied.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1989Date of Patent: March 24, 1992Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventor: Thomas H. Patent number: 5097920Abstract: Hydraulic steering mechanism is extended through an aperture in an end wall in a housing that has a pressure chamber, the steering mechanism including a slide rotatable with the steering column. An axial bearing is mounted by the end wall for rotatably mounting the steering mechanism while the aperture axially opposite end portion mounts a sealing ring between the housing and the steering mechanism. Axially between the sealing ring and the bearing there is a pressure reduction ring providing an annular gap with the slide for throttling the flow of fluid from the pressure chamber to a fluid collecting chamber that at least in part is defined by the pressure reduction and sealing rings. Fluid can flow from the collecting chamber through a housing outlet. The pressure reduction ring has an enlarged diameter flange for sealingly engaging the end wall and being clamped between the wall and the axial bearing.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1990Date of Patent: March 24, 1992Assignee: Danfoss A/SInventors: Poul H. Patent number: 5048981Abstract: A sealed bearing assembly for downhole drilling motors, which has a modular drop-in type construction. The sealed bearing assembly includes a housing portion which is secured to the drilling shaft and a housing portion which is secured to the casing. A bearing assembly extends between the two housing portions and the housing portions encase the bearing assembly and include a sealed construction which prevents the entry of drilling mud into the sealed assembly. A number of flow passages are provided in the rotating housing portion and/or the stationary housing portion so as to allow fluid to freely pass the sealed bearing assembly such that there is a negligible pressure drop across the sealed bearing assembly. The assembly also includes sealing portions on either side of the bearing assembly which preclude the entry of mud into the sealed bearing assembly.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1990Date of Patent: September 17, 1991Inventor: Russell D. Patent number: 4995737Abstract: An axial anti-friction bearing for mounting of the spring pad in a shock absorber leg of a vehicle wheel. The bearing including two races supporting rolling bodies between them. Each race is supported by a separate annular plastic cap. The two caps are snapped together in a sliding manner with respect to each other by holding noses to form a structural unit. At least one pin and preferably a plurality thereof protrude approximately axially from the cap. The spring plate to which the bearing is supported includes cutouts, in the form of drain holes in the spring plate, placed to each receive one of the pins. The bearing is thereby held in snap like manner on the spring plate via the pins. Each pin is provided with a hook and each extends over an arcuate portion of the circumference of the spring plate, approximately 30.degree..Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1990Date of Patent: February 26, 1991Assignee: FAG Kugelfischer Georg Schafer (KGaA)Inventors: Rainer Moller, Manfred Pretscher, Anton Schmidt
