Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating virtual collaboration between users within virtual environments are disclosed. A plurality of users access a collaborative virtual environment system at various times using interface devices to establish an asynchronous virtual collaboration session in which users collaborate in real-time and/or asynchronously. To enable asynchronous collaboration, data from virtual collaboration session is stored and presented to later users, including user movements and interactions with the environment, user annotation, and audio communications or comments. Other users may then access the data at a later time, and later user interactions, annotations, and audio may likewise be stored for further review by other users.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for a graphical network connection timeline is provided. The method comprises receiving network connection data for a client device and storing the data in a first data repository. Using the data stored in the first data repository, one or more connection time period values for the client device is calculated. Each of the connection time period values represent a time of wireless network connection of the client device to each of one or more access points. The method further comprises generating a network connection timeline that tracks a network connectivity of the client device and storing the timeline in a second data repository. The timeline comprises a frequency band indicator, a time period, and one or more markers based, at least in part, on each of the connection time period values. • Patent number: 9899024
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus are described for inducing a user of a speech recognition system to adjust their own behavior. For example, in one implementation, a speech recognition system that allows children to control electronic devices can improve the child's speech development, by encouraging the child to speak more clearly. To do so, the speech recognition system can generate a phonetic representation of a term spoken by the child, and can determine whether the phonetic representation matches a particular canonical pronunciation of the particular term that is deemed age-appropriate for the child. Upon determining that the particular canonical pronunciation that matches the phonetic representation of the term spoken by the child is not age-appropriate, the speech recognition system can select and implement a variety of remediation strategies for inducing the child to repeat the term using a pronunciation that is considered age-appropriate.

  • Patent number: 8019193
Abstract: A digital broadcast, in which video data and audio data are transmitted in the form of a transport stream, is received in a digital broadcast receiver and is decoded to provide a received transport stream. A first interface of the digital broadcast receiver is connected to a corresponding interface of a recording apparatus. Information corresponding to a transmission rate of the received transport stream is determined. A recording rate setting command is generated on the basis of the information corresponding to the transmission rate. The recording rate setting command is transmitted to the recording apparatus through the first interface and the corresponding interface when the connection between the first interface and the corresponding interface is initiated, when a request command is received from the recording apparatus, or periodically after predetermined intervals.

  • Patent number: 7962001
Abstract: In conventional technology, when a program which operates in synchronization with reproduction of video and audio instructs a trick play of video and audio such as fast-forward and rewind, the trick play of the video and audio continues even after the program is terminated. This makes it impossible to cancel a redundant trick play which continues for an interval of time which is not expected by the program. In the present invention, a program which instructs a trick play of video and audio is retained, and when the program is terminated, it is determined whether or not the program has instructed the trick play, and if that program has instructed the trick play, the trick play of the video and audio is cancelled. As a result, it is possible to cancel such a redundant trick play which would otherwise continue for some interval of time which is not expected by the program.
