Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are described in which is performed not only a shot detection (continuous recording with a camera) and an association of several key-frames to the shots, it then being possible for a subsequent scene recognition to be based on the grouping of shots into scenes. Rather, it is observed that a scene only relates to one event in a setting. Since both can change within a shot, not every scene boundary is at the same time also a shot boundary. In addition, not every shot is short enough, so that a reliable retrieval of different picture contents is not guaranteed. Therefore, exemplary embodiments are shown which are capable of defining sub-shots so that in principle, scene and shot boundaries are also sub-shot boundaries at the same time. Sub-shots furthermore include only video pictures with a small change in picture content.

  • Patent number: 8311384
Abstract: An image processing method receives a sequence of image frames and generates a computer generated object. The method combines the object with the sequence of frames to generate a sequence of augmented reality images. The method divides each received image frame into a respective array of image motion cells, detects inter-image motion in successive image frames for each motion cell, and generates a motion object comprising one or more image motion cells. The image motion cells in the motion object correspond to a set of image motion cells detected as comprising inter-image motion over a threshold number of image frames. The method detects relative distance between the object and the motion object within the augmented reality images, and generates a point of interest within a current image frame so the object may appear to interact with an image region corresponding to an image motion cell at the point of interest.

Abstract: A method for editing recorded images from a digital video camera. which images are projected from a cine lens connected to the digital video camera onto an imaging disk and, from the latter, onto an electronic sensor assembly, which converts the recorded images into recording signals provided as raw or RGB data, is provided. At least one calibration image is recorded, from which correction values are calculated for the grain structure of the imaging disk and/or the vignetting in the edge region of the recorded images. The recorded images are linked to the correction values.

Abstract: A first acquisition unit acquires images from a first image pickup unit for picking up moving images for use in recording. A second acquisition unit acquires images from a second image pickup unit for picking up the image of a person taking the moving images. A decision unit determines whether or not the person taking the moving images is viewing a monitor for displaying the moving images for use in recording, based on the images acquired from the second acquisition unit. A control unit varies the status of an image pickup apparatus according to the decision results of the decision unit.

  • Patent number: 8081859
Abstract: When a recording device is connected to a power source and a main power is supplied, position information of the recording device is obtained by using GPS satellites. A region where the recording device is installed is decided based on the obtained position information. Channel information appropriate for the decided region is read out from a storage medium such as a memory, and a tuner of the recording device is set automatically using the read channel information thus read. Additionally, when the position information is obtained, it is decided whether or not the position where the recording device is installed is within a predetermined distance from a boundary between regions. If it is adjacent to other region, a plurality of region codes are read out, and a request for selecting one to perform the channel setting is displayed using a display panel or an OSD function so that the selection can be received.

Abstract: In order to determine the actual position (A) of a geodetic measuring instrument (1) inside a dead range (T) wherein signals originating from a positioning system are shadowed, two reference structures (5) are detected from at least two known positions and the distances associated with the reference structures (5) are measured. Image information linked to said distance measurements is captured. Said information contains data on the arrangement of the reference structures (5). The actual position (1) can be derived from subsequent capture of the reference structures (5) from a position inside the dead range (T). Image processing methods are used advantageously to identify and measure the reference structures (5).

Abstract: A drop sensor detects a drop of a device. When the drop of the device is detected, a sub CPU allows a counter to count a drop time. When the device drops for a predetermined time or more, the sub CPU controls a regulator so that the regulator forcibly disconnects an electric power to be supplied to a hard disc, and writes a drop occurrence flag into a nonvolatile memory. When the power supply is again turned on, a main CPU allows a display section to display information indicating that the power supply is disconnected due to the drop of the device.

  • Patent number: 8005342
Abstract: A digital camera includes a signal processing circuit. The signal processing circuit makes signal processing on the camera data read from a camera data area of an SDRAM to produce YUV data for record. A thin-out circuit makes a thin-out processing on the recording YUV data to produce YUV data for display. The display YUV data and the recording YUV data thus produced are written respectively to a display data area and a recording data area of the SDRAM and thereafter processed for display on a display and record to a flash memory. The access speed to SDRAM is 48 MHz and the processing speed of the signal processing circuit and thin-out circuit is 12 MHz. Consequently, the YUV data for display and YUV data for record is written concurrently with reading out of the camera data.
