Abstract: Described herein are systems, devices and techniques for generating timecode for use in logging and identifying content in a recorded medium, and for use in synchronizing such content when captured and recorded to separate media via separate recording devices. Consistent with some embodiments of the invention, the timecode is generated based on a radio-based time signal that represents a universally accepted time standard (e.g., Coordinated Universal Time), thereby eliminating the need to configure and maintain a master clock distribution scheme as part of a timing synchronization system. Additionally, consistent with some embodiments, the timecode is generated to support any one of multiple framerates.

  • Patent number: 11068042
Abstract: As a user is being presented with interactive media by a presenting device, a separate monitoring device may be used to monitor the presentation of the interactive media and detect an event that occurs therein. Such a monitoring device may be configured and positioned to access media content from the presentation of the interactive media. For example, the monitoring device may be configured and positioned to record video content with a camera and record audio content with a microphone. Having accessed this media content, the monitoring device may generate an identifier, such as a fingerprint or watermark, of the media content and compare the generated identifier with a reference identifier that is generated from the source of the media content. Based on the generated identifier matching the reference identifier, the monitoring device may detect that an event has occurred within the interactive media presentation and present a corresponding notification.

Abstract: A configuration is realized such that a playback application applied in a receiving device can be determined using a service category identifier recorded in an SLT that can be received in advance. The service category identifier capable of identifying an application applied to a provided service such as a program provided by a transmitting device is transmitted to the receiving device. The receiving device performs a continuation process on an application applied before service transition when the service transition occurs and when applications applied to services before and after the transition are same. The service category identifier is an identifier capable of identifying the service by determining whether to apply a residential playback application or a broadcast playback application for playback of the service.
