Barrel-, Can- Or Round Box-carried Indicia Patents (Class 40/306)
  • Patent number: 6631578
Abstract: A system and method for constructing a rotatable label and attaching the rotatable label to a container. The rotatable label system includes an inner label attached to the container and a rotatable outer label. The inner label may have adhesive on a rear surface of a trailing end alone, or it may have adhesive on a rear surface of both the leading and trailing end for fixedly attaching it to a container. The outer label only has adhesive on a rear surface of a trailing end to secure the outer label to itself. A leading end is temporarily affixed to the container while the outer label is wrapped around the container. Once the trailing end is attached to a front surface of the leading end, the outer label can be rotated about the container over the inner label. Longitudinal movement of the outer label relative to the container may be restricted by disposing the outer label between top and bottom label panels formed on the container.

  • Patent number: 6604307
Abstract: A multi-ply composite container for consumer products is provided having a tubular body ply and a film label ply. The tubular body ply is formed of paperboard material, and the film label ply is peelably adhered to the outer surface of the tubular body ply. The film label ply is comprised of a polymeric film having inner and outer layers formed from polymeric materials. The inner layer is permanently bonded to the outer layer such that the layers provide a film label ply having predictable tear characteristics, yet having the necessary strength to prevent premature rupture of the container. An adhesive is applied on at least a portion of the inner layer of the film label ply. The adhesive is for peelably adhering the label ply to the outer surface of the tubular body ply. A plurality of perforations or a laser score may also be included for directed a tear in the film label ply. Graphical matter can be included on at least a portion of the inner or outer layer of the film label ply.

  • Patent number: 6594927
Abstract: A novel method for the application of collectible or play premiums which are positioned on labels or wrappers for consumer packaging to provide value to the advertising label stock and provide an incentive for the initial and repeat purchase of the consumer product. The premiums may be in the form of stickers, transferable tattoos, painting or other activity members, glow-in-the-dark or scented inks, etc., which are integral with the labeling material such that the label has an essentially uniform thickness which will not create problems in the use of high-speed automated machinery that is utilized in the application of the label stock to the consumer product. The flexible label comprises a first layer having advertising thereon and a second layer coextensive with the first layer providing a uniform thickness and includes a removable premium which is separated from the label for play or collection by the user.

  • Patent number: 6578303
Abstract: A precisely measured removable cover for reusable beverage containers. A covering of independently resilient material is precisely cut to fit a given size and shape of pot, and the material has imprinted on it a desired promotional or advertising message and/or graphics. The covering material is removably fastened with releasable closures to the outside of the pot in such a way as not to impair significantly the natural independent resiliency of the material. Thus, dents in the pot do not generally show in the covering surface because it retains its independent resiliency, even if the blow was delivered through the covering surface. Messages may be changed as often as suits the promotional and decorative needs of the owner of the pot, so the display surface is always timely and in top condition. An optional “window” permits display of interchangeable labels on the inside of the covering.

The label holder preferably has a box frame and a slot therein. A slot entrance aperture allows the insertion of the label or labels into the slot. A window in an exterior wall of the label holder provides visual access to at least a portion of the information on the label. Each of the labels has a tab extending outwardly from the slot entrance aperture as well as printed information on at least one side of the label concerning the age of, the nature of, and the approximate amount of the contents of the storage container. In its preferred mode, the identification device also includes an indicator. The indicator preferably is attached to the box frame by an oval shaft that fits into a hole with a plurality of detents.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for constructing a rotatable label device and attaching it to a container. The rotatable label device includes an inner shell and an outer shell concentrically and rotatably mounted to the inner shell. Either the container, the inner shell or the outer shell may include a set of rims for limiting the movement of the outer shell along the axis of the container. These rims may be created by gluing panels, folding, embossing or by detaching perforated sections of an outer label. The rotatable label device may be attached to the container in one-step by first tacking the inner label to the outer label, mounting the combined unit and then separating the inner label from the outer label.

Abstract: A container has attached to its surface information fields containing information about the container's contents. A shell partially covered with an additional set of information fields and including a window is movably attached to the container so that when the shell is moved with respect to the container, the window reveals at least one of the information fields attached to the container surface. A method for manufacturing comprises the steps of affixing a first set of information fields to a container, defining a transparent window in a shell, and then disposing the shell around the container so that, in response to movement of the shell, the window reveals a variable subset of the information fields.

  • Patent number: 5658015
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a sleeve for placement around a container utilizes a single continuous sheet of plastic which is folded into an enclosed shape having a front side, a back side and an overlapping section extending over the front side to form a sleeve body. This enclosed shape is held together by welding through adjacent edges of the front and back sides and the overlapping section to form parallel welds. In the final method step at least one precut is formed in the overlapping section. This precut extends parallel to the welds to allow for detachment of a portion of the overlapping section such that the front side is visible. Information can be printed both on the overlapping section and on the front and back sides, so that the sleeve of the invention has a larger surface area for printing than conventional sleeves which include only front and back portions.
