  • Patent number: 5413665
Abstract: A web of cardstock divided by transverse score lines includes card segments having apertures oriented with respect to an optical center point of each card segment. The web is continuously fed from a supply of cardstock by engagement of a tractor feed device with tracks of holes extending along the longitudinal edges of the web. A selected one of the holes serves to locate the optical center point of each card segment as the web is fed to a film mounting station. Film negatives cut from a strip of developed film are sequentially positioned in registry with the optical centers in the apertures of the card segments as the web advances through the film mounting station. An adhesive releasably secures the negatives in overlying relation with the apertures on one side of the cards to expose through the apertures a selected composition of the negatives.

  • Patent number: 5409753
Abstract: A removable and reusable publication marker for use in placing an emphasis on significant segments of text, most particularly, specific chapters and verses of the bible. The markers are of nominal thickness and are fabricated from transparent plastic materials of varying colors so as to not impede with the legibility of the bible text. The markers have a light adhesive backing which permits the same to be applied to a page adjacent a desired segment of text and which permits the same to be easily removed from the page and reused if desired. Each color may correspond with a particular area or topic of study. The markers are removably attachable to one or more release sheets. When not in use, the release sheets are retained in an storage pocket which, in turn, is inconspicuously attachable to a the printed publication. The pocket may be provided with a color chart associating the various colored markers with corresponding topics.

  • Patent number: 5227209
Abstract: An array of separable decals are provided to address the difficult problem of working with very tiny or narrow decals with the fingers of the human hand. The decal array is comprised of a longitudinally extending printed laminar paper strip having an upper exposed surface and an opposite surface coated with pressure sensitive adhesive. A laminar backing sheet coated with a release agent is disposed in contact throughout with the adhesive coated side of the printed strip. Transversely extending indicia, such as identification information, are printed on the exposed surface of the printed strip at longitudinal intervals therealong. The printed strip is transversely scored above each of the transversely extended indicia. Both the printed strip and the backing sheet beneath are transversely scored below each of the transversely extending indicia. The scoring is such that the printed strip separates more readily at the scoring above the transverse indicia than at the scoring below it.

Abstract: Identification and inventorying of logs, particularly those to be made into paper pulp, is provided utilizing a cellulosic fiber (paper) based identification tag. The tag is printed, as by ion deposition, with variable information, such as bar coding and human recognizable indicia corresponding to the bar coding. By perforations, the tag is separated into a number of different sections, each section having the variable imaging on it. A water soluble acrylic varnish is applied to the web to cover the bar coding. The tags are attached to the cut ends of logs by metal staples, and during processing or inventorying sections of the tag may be removed along the perforations.

  • Patent number: 5167739
Abstract: A multi page mailer type business form is constructed by applying a first adhesive pattern to the top sheet bottom face perimeter areas, a second adhesive pattern to the bottom sheet top face perimeter areas, and applying third and fourth adhesive patterns to the middle sheet top and bottom face perimeter areas respectively. Variable information is printed on the top, bottom and middle sheets including machine readable identification information (bar code) which is common to the sheets that are to be assembled into a final multi page mailer. The set is accumulated, and verified by scanning the identification information, and then the perimeter adhesive patterns are sealed. The adhesive is preferably pressure sensitive adhesive, and the final mailer produced has a book-like construction. The adhesive patterns are such that the top and bottom sheets can be provided in a stack without the perimeter adhesive patterns aligning, and the middle sheets can be provided in a separate stack.

  • Patent number: 5076490
Abstract: Combination mailer comprising postcard-weight stock having therein at least two areas, a first right hand area for an address and postage and a left hand area which includes a partially perfed (die cut) index card which may be removed from the combination mailer. The index cards may be standard small size or a larger size depending on the size of the mailable card used. The index card may be oriented horizontally or vertically. A vertical boundary between the left and right side areas is defined by a scoring, perf line, printed line or dashes in order to assist in removing the index cards from the mailer. Only partial perforations are used to define the index card margins to prevent the mailer from being folded, mutilated, lost or delayed in the mailing. Microperfs are preferred. Preferably, the index card is oriented vertically with only the T-shaped notches along the bottom margin being perfed out, leaving the bottom margin or top margin to be cut with scissors.
