Abstract: A case for a lighter including a removable cap and elongated body sleeve is described herein. Placing the cap on the elongated body sleeve creates a waterproof seal that protects the components of the lighter inside of the case and prevents exposure of the lighter to moisture that may damage components or prevent proper functioning of the lighter. The case can prevent inadvertent activation of the gas button and can also provide a gas lock strap for selectively activating and maintaining activation of the gas button. The case and cap can include features for increasing grip on the lighter as well as removably coupling the case to a lanyard, key ring, or other means of retention.

Abstract: A toy having: an action figurine; an accessory configured to be removably secured to the action figurine; and a housing into which the action figurine and the accessory can be inserted, wherein the housing is configured to releasably retain the accessory and the action figurine therein after they have been inserted into the housing, the housing further comprising: a first actuation mechanism for releasing the action figurine from the housing when the first actuation mechanism is actuated, wherein the action figurine becomes dislodged from the accessory, and the accessory remains within the housing; and a second actuation mechanism for releasing both the action figurine and the accessory from the housing when the second actuation mechanism is actuated.

Abstract: A portable advertising system well suited for outdoor advertising at night includes a body adapted to be secured to a transportation vehicle and may include a universal attachment system for that purpose. An advertisement may be displayed on an advertising surface mounted on the body. An illumination source is directed towards the advertising surface and may be integrated into an electronic display unit or may be directed at an advertising sheet such as a vinyl sheet. When the advertising sheet is used, a sheet tension system typically maintains tension on the sheet, and an openable protective cover may protect the sheet when not in use. The illumination source may be controlled based on environmental light conditions, sheet tension and/or position of the protective cover. The body may be part of a cargo container such as an ISO container suited for securing to a railroad car or other vehicle.

Abstract: An optionally extending or retracting display panel assembly, comprising a horizontally elongated support bracket configured for support at an upper portion of a relatively large first container, or the like, primary magnetic apparatus carried to magnetically attract the bracket toward the container, for removable bracket attachment to the container, and the display panel assembly and associated connections configured for horizontal displacement guiding by the bracket during panel extension and retraction relative to the container, while the panel remains generally vertically proximate a vertical side of the container. A counter-weight system assists panel leveling as well as extension and retraction.

Abstract: An apparatus that can selectively display prearranged messages that may be erasable and rewritable or spaces for posting messages, and at the same time, function as a clip to retain pieces of papers or other suitable objects. The apparatus comprises a platform that again comprises a bottom layer, a message layer, and a covering layer which are configured and integrated to move relative to one another so that the messages on the message layer can be selectively displayed through a window on the covering layer. The apparatus further comprises a plate which are pivotally connected to the bottom of the platform wherein a spring-like member is used to force only part of an platform bottom edge to contact against the plate so as to form a clip between the platform bottom and the plate.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus by which rules and record keeping in games employing miniature figures as game pieces are incorporated onto the base of the miniature figures themselves. Counters or wheels keep track of a character's characteristics and how they change as a game progresses. Values can be customized for each character by providing differently numbered wheels for the bases. Also, a method for providing collectable game pieces with varied features by providing them to the consumer concealed in packaging.

Abstract: A display device includes a frame, a first screen, a second screen, a third screen and a fourth screen. The first and second screens each have a distal end that is movable generally in a first direction between a first limit position and a second limit position. The third and fourth screens each have a first distal end that is movable generally in a second direction between a first limit position and a second limit position. The second direction is at an angle with respect to the first direction. Tension is applied in the first direction to each of the first distal end of each of the first screen and the second screen in a direction away from the respective second proximal end. A first guide channel is fixedly connected to an upper portion of the frame. A second guide channel is fixedly connected to a lower portion the frame. A first and second set of support carriers, each having at least one roller, are rotatably received in the first and second guide channels, respectively.

Abstract: A manually changeable digital display device capable of displaying the numerals zero through 9 comprises a background panel having an optic or brightly colored face and a one-piece foreground panel adjacent to and parallel with the background panel. The one-piece foreground panel has seven elongated windows or openings which expose seven corresponding segments of the background panel. Each of the windows is covered by a flap which is integrally formed with the foreground panel and is hinged thereto. The desired numerals are formed by opening and closing the appropriate flaps to expose the appropriate corresponding segments thereby displaying the desired numerals. Two or more such digital display units can be arranged side by side to display the numerals 10 through any desired number.

Abstract: A package group comprising at least two individual packages fastened together in stacked, registered superimposed relationship by a wrap around band. The wrap around band is adhesively attached to two adjacent sides of the package group symmetrically with the interface between the two packages of the group. Each package has a pricing bar code on one surface thereof, and the packages are oriented so that the surface of each package having the bar code face to the same side of the package group. The wrap around band is fabricated of a transparent material and includes an opaque panel asymmetrically located to one side of the longitudinal centerline of the band. The opaque panel is positioned, sized and configured to completely cover the pricing bar code on only one of the packages of the group.

Abstract: A changeable display device comprising a support member created out of a plurality of parallel rails forming display channels and said rails being attached together by cross members. Oppositely colored rows of back plates are mounted to said rails. Display elements are rotatably mounted in an array in said display channels having opposite display sides. The display elements are rotated into either a first display orientation or second display orientation so that cooperating with said back plates a display may be formed. Each of the display elements has a camming member with a camming surface and elbow portions adjacent one of the rails and a C-shaped spring is disposed in a spring housing attached to the rails adjacent said camming member. The C-shaped spring is deformed by the action of the camming member and thus exerts a force against the camming member.

Abstract: Indicia display means comprising an indicia-bearing member having one or more sets of visible indicia located thereon in predetermined locations, and a mask member arranged to overlay the indicia-bearing member, the mask member having perforations or openings at predetermined locations to expose selected ones of said visible indicia. The mask member may be provided with a mirror image set of said indicia on the reverse side of the mask member to assist in locating the site of said openings or perforations in the mask member. The location of the indicia, the color, and/or the color of the background and/or the color of the mask areas may be used to convey information, in addition to the values assigned to the indicia themselves.

Abstract: A sign for displaying prices and other information, in which at least one numeral character is changeable to display any numeral from zero through nine. A plurality of flap members are each pivotably attached to a flat foundation portion of the sign by resilient clips which hold a portion of each flap closely against a flat front side of the foundation member, thus holding the entire flap against the front side of the sign to prevent the flaps from being caught by wind. The flaps can be overturned by use of a tool including a spatula-like end, to display selectively a background colored face of the flap, covering a contrastingly colored portion of the foundation member, or to display the opposite face of the flap, which is of the contrasting color, and uncover the contrastingly colored portion of the foundation member. The spring clips are movable to permit the flap to be overturned, yet resiliently urge the flap against the front side of the foundation member at other times.

Abstract: A greeting and toy device comprises an animal simulating toy including a main body member consisting of a closed flexible soft envelope containing a soft resilient filler puffing the envelope and an animal part simulating section joined to the envelope and swingable between open and closed positions relative to a corresponding surface of the envelope, the confronting faces of the envelope and swingable section in the swingable section closed position and having adherent overlying message carrying panels which are exposed for reading in the swingable section open position.

Abstract: Novelty ornamentation such as for a cover in the form of a non-disposable sleeve for a disposable cigarette lighter of conventional design is disclosed. A novelty appearing and disappearing image presenting assembly is situated on one side of the sleeve and includes a filmstrip enclosed in a housing. The filmstrip has opaque portion having a desired color providing a permanent portion of the image and a translucent portion providing the appearing and disappearing portion of the image. A dark background is permanently situated behind the translucent portion of the filmstrip and a light colored shield is selectively positionable behind the translucent portion in front of the dark background. The shield is movable by gravity to and from a position behind the translucent portion of the image on the filmstrip, thereby to cause it to appear when the shield is moved behind and to disappear when the shield is moved away.

Abstract: A carton serving as a container for a food product, such as a hamburger. The carton in one embodiment is of the so-called clamshell type and includes an upper lid and a lower tray, both the lid and the tray being of generally truncated pyramidal shape. The novel feature of the clamshell carton permits the packager of the food product to indicate on the carton the type of food product therein. One panel of the carton carries a plurality of shutter panels, the shutter panels overlying and normally covering indicia on an indicia panel. With the packaging of a particular food product in the carton, any one of the plurality of the shutter panels is swung out so as to expose corresponding indicia on the indicia panel. By virtue of this construction, a single carton may be employed for the packaging of a variety of generally similarly sized food products.

Abstract: An improved indicia display apparatus particularly useful for displaying indicia indicating the number of down to be played in football competition and locating the position of the ball along the sideline, for example, the apparatus comprising an opaque outer cylinder with a domed top and bottom, with three evenly spaced openings, said outer cylinder fitting over a translucent inner cylinder with two rows of printed indicia. Illumination within the inner cylinder is attached to a center pole that attaches to the domed top of the outer cylinder by a male and female plastic threaded screw fittings. The inner cylinder having a sleeve that slides up and down and rotates on the center pole for selecting desired indicia representing chosen down. Top dome and bottom dome of the outer cylinder are attached to outer cylinder body with metal screws for securing assembly together and removing to replace illuminating device.

Abstract: A novelty writing instrument having cap and body members, each carrying part of an illusion producing device, is shown and described. By moving the cap and body members relative to one another, an illusion can be created.

Abstract: A gravity flow display device which is usable for selectively and alternatingly exhibiting two different but conceptually related displays. The device has two thin transparent walled half-hourglass compartments through which displays at their rears are visible. The device further contains non-transparent particulate matter which is capable of flowing from compartment to compartment in response to gravitational force and which is of a sufficient quantity to almost completely fill only whichever of said compartments contains it. When said non-transparent particulate matter is contained within one of the two transparent compartments, the display attached to said compartment is blocked from view.

Abstract: The cigarette lighter cover is a novelty sleeve for the cigarette lighter which has a tubular body portion with a hollow interior space sized to receive the body of the cigarette lighter of conventional design. One end of the body portion is closed off to form a bottom end of the sleeve. The other end of the body portion is open to receive the cigarette lighter. An image presenting assembly is situated on one side of the sleeve and includes a filmstrip. Opaque portions of this filmstrip have a desired color to provide a portion of an image and a translucent portion has the remaining portion of the image which is caused to appear and disappear. A dark background is situated behind the translucent portion of the filmstrip and a light colored shield is positioned behind the filmstrip and between the filmstrip and the dark background.

Abstract: A reversible, portable direction indicating sign for use in road construction and maintenance work includes an upper indicia bearing panel rigidly attached to and spaced from an upright member and a lower indicia bearing panel rotatably mounted on the upright member. The lower indicia bearing panel includes an arrow imprinted thereon which can be pointed to the right or to the left by rotating the second indicia bearing panel. The word "KEEP" is printed on the upper indicia bearing panel. The word "LEFT" is printed on the lower indicia bearing panel beneath the arrow when the arrow points to the left. The word "RIGHT" is printed on the lower indicia bearing panel beneath the arrow when the arrow points to the right. When the arrow points to the right the portion of the lower indicia bearing panel on which the inverted word "LEFT" is imprinted in located in the space between the upright member and the upper indicia bearing member, so that the word "LEFT" is covered thereby.

The display device has a plurality of such groups. The display device has a driving mechanism having a cam arrangement, driving device, connecting members and a guide device, and cam followers each having an arm at the upper portion. The display device further comprises a frame structure releasably engaged with the connecting members of the driving mechanism, and elongated rigid elements movable together with the strips. Each elongated rigid element has an engaging member for contacting the arm of the cam follower to thereby shift the rigid elements and strips of one group in cooperation with a vertical movement of the cam followers.

Abstract: A parking guide and signaling device for cars and trucks to assist the driver parking a vehicle safely in a designated parking area comprising a housing section with a window therein which is closed by a pane of transparent sheet material through which indicia can be seen only when the indicia is placed in contact with the rear surface of the pane and with the housing having pivotally mounted therein an actuating lever biased so that the upper end of the actuating arm is normally spaced rearwardly of the pane and having secured to the upper end of the arm a plate with warning indicia on the front surface thereof adapted to be moved into contact with said pane and the lower end of the actuating arm extending forwardly below the housing section and adapted to be moved pivotally rearwardly by a vehicle as it moves into a designated parking area and bringing the warning indicia place into contact with said pane.
